Can you actually fail a mission on Mission:Space if you don't press any buttons?

Yes, you can fail the "mission". We landed in It's A Small World and had to wade through the water to an exit. Gary Senise lectured us on the importance of paying attention and we had do the mission again. BTW we were succesful the second time!!

I have ridden plenty of times when one of the "crew" was too "overwhelmed" to perform his or her task.

When that happens you hear a computer voice that says "Computer over-ride" and the mission continues on to its rather precarious end.

My DS (5) was very woried when he found he couldn't quite reach all his controls. I told him the auto-pilot would cover for him!!! :surfweb:

I really want to ride this, but I'll be riding solo, and I am worried that I'll mess up and upset the bunch of strangers I'm riding with. I know, that's pathetic. I just don't want to get yelled at or anything...

Though I have to say that, if failure does involve Gary Sinise arriving to personally scold me--I am definitely throwing my game! Hubba-hubba!

I wouldn't worry. Basically, you have two buttons, each of which is pressed at a specific time. Gary Sinise will tell you when to press it (and it'll light up.) If you don't press it, the computer just says, "Computer Override" and presses it for you. No big deal. You can't "lose." :) Nobody else will really care whether you press the buttons or not.

Thank you for the reassurance! I will definitely ride it now :teeth:

My family of four had a blast on this ride. We were there the first week of March. We all four (ages 40, 40, 14, and 9) rode it 5 times. I think all the warning signs scared many people away from it. On the last 2 rides, we pushed every button and flipped every switch we could. We raised our head up and looked right, left, up, and down to see what it felt like. It was so much fun. but I can see how some people with motion sickness would absolutley freak in there. We'd switch positions standing in line to make sure we all had a turn at the different "jobs". LOVE the barf bags in the cockpit. That cracked me up. But even with all the messing with the buttons, the flight was the same every time. Only ONCE did I have a joystick that vibrated and had some motion to it. That was COOL! It's a shame the others didn't work properly. :Pinkbounc
