At this time two years ago our family was having a great time at Disneyland. At the time our youngest DD was 7...she kept describing the rides as "pleasant" or "unpleasant." Soarin' Over California was pleasant. It's Tough to be a Bug was unpleasant.

So tell me: Is Mission Space pleasant or unpleasant?

Me: unpleasant.
My wife: very, very unpleasant. She is subject to claustophobia, which made the experience much more unpleasant.

Never again.

I agree. I love thrill rides with a passion, but Mission: Space was just incredibly unpleasant. It just felt as if air was grabbing at my stomach and pushing it as hard as it could.

Pleasant for DH and DD. Unpleasant for me. It wasn't terrible; it's just that I felt really weird for a while afterward. It's hard to explain.

I'm 17 and when I rode M:S last I was 16... I would describe it as unpleasant. It's an excellent ride, but it's very tight (space- and leg-room wise) and the initial "lift-off" makes me feel a bit sick. I still ride it, and I think it's one of Disney's best, but it's definitely not pleasant.

Thanks for your replies...I'm getting a kick out of them. Sort of gets into the psychology of thrill rides...we can describe a ride as unpleasant, but then still ride it more than once!

The Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland Paris is a pretty cheap roller coaster...a few years back they thought they would jazz it up by running it backwards. It's so unpleasant that there's almost never a line for it, even though it's supposed to be one of the big rides. (I think they may be running it forward again.) DD (then 8) was not tall enough to ride it, so I was perfectly glad to stay behind with her!

DH loved it. I however find the ride to be very unpleasant. I felt nauseous as soon as the ride started. If you have a weak stomach, I would suggest not doing it.

This is exactly how I feel about it. I'm glad that I went and had the experience, but I don't know if I would go again.

I third that!! Not sick sick, just weird.

Super duper pleasant for my husband & 7 year old daughter. I guess I'm the party pooper.

Unpleasant – never met a ride I didn’t like until I rode Mission Space. It is hard to describe. I too had a weird feeling. It wasn’t my stomach it was more like the centrifugal force bothered my vision. I felt crossed eyed or something. I think all the warnings about looking straight ahead and not shutting your eyes got to me. When I got off there were a least 3 people sitting on the ground with their heads between there legs. :crazy2:

I rode M:S on Saturday for the first time. I am a 35 year old physically fit female with average tolerance for spinning. I loved the ride, found it very exhilarating.

On the way in, you get a lot of visuals that explain how the ride vehicle moves -- it spins. I tried to forget all that, just stared at the screen and pretended that I was actually going UP instead of AROUND. I think that helped prevent any dizziness or disorientation.

I wanted to do it again right away but no chance! Will have to wait for next year, I guess...

I rode this on my solo January trip. I was scared, yet really wanted to try. Almost chickened out with all the warnings--over and over and over. i don't care for motion simulators--never gotten sick on one, just felt uneasy.

I loved it!! I watched the screen, pushed the buttons, and really felt like I was flying. I had no ill affects. Of course, later in the trip after my family arrived, DH wanted to ride it, and I was too anxious.

:earsboy: I have never felt worse coming off of a ride EVER. :earsboy:

Nausea....etc..I wouldnt ride it if that kind of thing bothers you.

and probably won't do it again. It is different, I'll say that. The "launch" was the weirdest thing I've ever felt; the rest of it was similar to Star Tours, only better. I can't say it made me sick or nauseous but I would say the "launch" was unpleasant, but very interesting.
I can only say, "Try it once. You might really enjoy it."

We all LOVE Mission Space! It was my ds' (7) favorite ride until he rode Test Track...now he says he has two favorite rides. Yea, it feels kinda weird, not real sure how to put it into words, but it was SOOOO COOL! If someone doesn't ride it, then I would say they are definately missing out.

My DS LOVED this ride, and wanted to ride it over and over.

I'd take a hot poker to the eye before I ride that beast again. :crazy2:

I'd say unpleasant. Having a diagnosable "puke phobia," I was so afraid that I or one of my co-riders might toss their cookies mid-flight that I had a hard time enjoying it!!!

Pleasant for me. A little unpleasant for DH. He liked the ride ok, but he felt a little "off" for a bit afterwards.

My dad came off the ride with chest pains last May, so I said "No more M:S for you!" The cardiologist said he was fine and he rode it again in January. Now that particular M:S ride was unpleasant for me b/c I thought that he would have a heart attack. :earseek: He was fine. (He's a former Navy pilot and did all that spinning stuff all the time, but still..... :earseek: )

I'm 13 and at the time when I rode Mission:SPACE, I was 11. I thought the ride was very unpleasant. It made me queasey for at least 2 hours after I rode it. I definitely do NOT recommend it for people who are claustrophobic.

My whole family finds this ride very pleasant. That is all of us who rode it, some people in are group decided not to even try it. However, seeing the way that they have reacted to rides similar to Misson:Space I think it was a good idea. :cool1:
