Mission Space news

Thank you, so much, for the link :)

Woo-hoo!!!! I will be living down there by then!!! Can't wait to ride!:)

The passporter newsletter has a pretty good review of the inside of the building and the post ride attractions and also has info on the new coaster planned for Animal Kingdom. Glad I decided to go to the F&W Fest with my DSIL in Oct. since MS will not be open for our June trip, but the kids won't be too happy that I will get to ride it without them!

I hope that date sticks that will be our last day at the park.....:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Soft openings are the last phase in the development of a ride. The way I understand it, it's to train cast members, to make sure that crowds are flowing through the attraction the way it was designed, to fine-tune things, to make sure that it can operate all day long at capacity without breaking down constantly and, if necessary, make small last-minute adjustments. Safari Steve may know more about this.

Usually these are not publically announced, so it is quite astononishing that Disney did this with Mission: SPACE. What you can expect are long lines, lots of breakdowns, limited operating hours, and most likely no FastPass, with things getting better and more reliable the closer it gets to its official opening in October.

WDWguide, thanks for the reply.

I guess it'll have to be an EEday and plenty of patience !

:o

Thanks for the info! We will be there in Dec and will defiantly try this ride!

It most likely will soft open with FastPass as the FastPass machines are already installed.

Long lines will be a given with the publicity this attraction is getting though

It all depends on how breakdown-proof the ride is by the time soft openings begin. If it only breaks down a couple of times a day, they'll probably have them running. If not, they probably won't at first.

Mission:Space is the first attraction at WDW to have FastPass integrated into the ride system. Currently, when a FP attraction has a down time or changes capacity by adding or taking away units, a person has to input that information into the FP system so that the number of FPs distributed can be adjusted to avoid back-ups. At Mission:Space, the FP system will know as soon as the ride system knows. They will probably want to test that process, so I would think that FP will be available during part of the soft opening. I know a couple of people who get to be on the opening crew, so I'll ask them, but if I don't get around to them/they don't know, I'll find out at the Cast Preview (membership has its privledges)...

We are going the last week of June...I hope they are letting some ride that early...Maybe it will be a soft-soft opening...lol
