We have never been on this ride....Ok for a 5 yr old? Is there any spinning or G forces? We love simulation rides but I cannot do any ride that has intense G forces or shoots a person forward or backwards at a very fast speed (like rockin rollercoaster etc)

The Green side has no G-force or spinning. It's an enclosed space that's kind of dark, a restraint comes down over your head/shoulders, and you look at a video screen where the 'action' plays out. There is some movement back and forth, but it's not very intense at all. I haven't ridden Green in a long time (I like the G-forces on Orange) but I think I remember it being about the same kinds of movement than Star Tours, maybe a bit less.

"Mission: SPACE - Green Team Less Intense Training" has no spinning or g-forces. The capsule rocks around a little and swings to kinda "pin" you to your seat (using normal gravity). The experience is largely the same as Orange Team only without the g-forces. Note, it is still a tight capsule, so claustrophobia can be an issue.

As long as you aren't claustrophobic Green side is easy. It's much gentler than Star Tours. But if you can't stand enclosed spaces, or having an over the shoulder restraint, avoid it.

Ok! So I think we will try it. Since Soarin is down when we go I am trying to do things we have not tried before. I don't feel like enclosed spaces will affect us. Thanks for the replies!

Don't get scared off by the many warnings. The pre-show for that ride almost tries to talk you out of it, but it's mostly the same spiel from Orange Team. Don't let Gary Sinise scare you!

One thing to note is if you or anyone in your family gets carsick while reading in the car, it may affect you a little on the green side. Your face is pretty close to a screen showing a movie and you are moving. I liken the sensation to trying to watch a video on your iphone while in a car. Some people it doesn't bother them and unfortunately for two people in our family... one got queasy while in the ride and felt better after and the other it "ruined them" for a while after. This was green side.
I think if you have no issues with being car sick you should be ok.

I have been on green a couple of times with no problem and I am more of a Dumbo ride kind of girl! My 5 year old (at the time) son rode it last summer. While he wasn't afraid he didn't really care for it either.

there's a capsule outside of the attraction (as soon as you enter the queue) that you can sit in and see if the enclosed aspect of it doesn't bother you or your family. Keep in mind that as soon as you are "strapped in" you can't really look around that much so that could be something else to look for.

If you can do Star Tours you can do Mission Space green. I avoided it for years because I was scared it would make me sick (the tea cups can do me in). I finally let DD coerce me on it when she was 6 or 7 and I absolutely loved it! I think it is fine for a 5 year old who wants to try it. I agree with the others that if you are claustrophobic it may not be for you. I have never felt too closed in by it except for on our last trip where they had some type of issue (not sure if it was technical difficulties or a guest issue) and we were stuck in the capsule for 10 to 15 minutes before the ride started- as it started getting toward the end of our wait I started to feel closed in. I think that is pretty unusual. We rode it another time a different trip where there was a guest issue and they released the harnesses and opened the capsules while they spent a few minutes sorting it out and then they shut everything again. That time it was one kid who flipped out and didn't want to ride with a brother who did want to ride and did not want to leave and a Dad trying to negotiate between the two and not hold everyone up--- poor Dad!

We still didn't like it, it does still have some intensity to it and also it's way too cramped. I say Star Tours is much better if only for a lot more space (and probably less intense than Mission Space Green)

For me, Mission Space without the G-force is boring but I did ride Green the first time because the warnings are so "in your face". That said, Green should be fine unless there is an issue of claustrophobia.

I didn't think I was claustrophobic until I did that ride- and I wanted to be an astronaut growing up. It was not a good experience for me personally. Of course you know you and your child best but I felt sick the rest of the day after riding, will never do it again. It was almost a sense of panic because once you're secured in, there is no where else to look/move. I remember closing my eyes and just wishing it would be over. Hope it won't be the same for you!

This is my problem. DS loves small enclose spaces... myself? Not so much. I can barely do elevators, lol.

Not a fan. I felt sick and the warnings had me near panic by the time we got in. I just closed my eyes the entire time.

I don't do roller coasters, TT or any other thrill type ride. I like Mission space green side. I'm too busy making sure to push the right button when it's my turn and focused on the actual screen during the flight to even think about being in a small space for the duration of the short ride. Of course everyone is different, my mom won't do Soarin because it makes her dizzy, for example.

Not me, I push the WRONG button. :)

OP I find there to be nothing intense about the ride. I love the feeling of being tilted just a bit forward; it makes me sleepy and cozy. If the movie bothers your eyes, close your eyes.

That's what I thought. Big mistake in my case. I'm an enormous thrill ride fan. Very little fazes me. Star Tours is one of my favorite Disney attractions, I can ride it over and over again. I'm also (or so I thought) not claustrophobic. But the moment the capsule closed the first and only time I rode Mission Space (Orange), I freaked out, started to panic, and spent the entire ride trying not to hyperventilate and/or cry. And then for the next 90 minutes, I felt light headed and had the persistent, queasy feeling that I was still experiencing the centrifugal force of the ride. It was the worst physical feeling I've ever had after any thrill ride I've ridden, and it was scary in a really bad way to experience. I remember sitting in the waiting area of Ellen's Energy Adventure and telling my partner I was afraid I was going to pass out. I'll never, ever ride it again.

I get motion sick. I can do green with no problems. Can't do Star Tours.
