<PANIC! PANIC! PANIC!> :dance3:

Man.... I can't believe it's really HAPPENING!!!! I am SO not ready... thought I was... but I'm not! :rotfl2:

I won't be on alot today, cuz I have so much to do. DH is staying out of work today b/c his foot is pretty swollen. Guess I shoulda seen THAT coming!! But, he was determined he was gonna work the day after his surgery... :sad2:

But even a cut boy has to be able to get his shoe on!! :lmao:

He has one of those velcro shoe thingies to put on, but he just can't put much weight on it yet. Such a small incision, but it may as well be a foot long when it's on the bottom of your heel!

But his boss called this morning anyway, and said they were going to spend all day lugging heaters all over the house to get the sheet rock mud dry (it's been rainy & cold here), and DH should just stay home.

So he kinda got a free recovery day, without having to "call in".

So now he's sleeping (THANK GOD)

As for the procedure.. after he got all loopy and out of it, they made me leave. But he doesn't remember a thing, he says, which is good. :thumbsup2
The dr. said they got all of the wood, and a little piece of glass that was right under the skin (remember the Snapple bottle??)

The way the dr. described that splinter... when your foot gets an invader that your body can't push out (alot of times deep splinters will work their way out of other places, like your hand) it actually kind of "seals it off" with scar tissue to prevent it from traveling up into your leg.
He said DH could have had that splinter in there for the rest of his life, and not known it, other than the occasional foot pain that he's always had. Apparently the glass shard pierced the scar tissue, and that's why I couldn't get it with my handy dandy tweezers.

But, regardless.. it is over, now he is free to be a big ol baby until Friday night, when I will go into

Disney Ninja Commando Mode

and will begin stamping out any whining, crying and general pity-fulness out of all Turner troop members. :scared:

Now I gotta go fix a crack in my tub... just found it last night, and I need to take a shower! :goodvibes

Geez, that sounds so painful. That is a tough part of your foot to have an injury

I think it's good that he is getting more rest on his foot today...more time to heal!

So you have a crack in your bathtub? That sounds like something that would happen to me just days before a trip. It's not like you have anything else to do than fix the tub, right :rolleyes1

I forget what time you leave on Saturday? Will you have any time that day to get anything done? We fly out early Sunday so I have no time other than to get up and get everyone dressed and out the door. Of course when you're getting up to go to Disney, you have some incredible sort of energy that just takes over and continues until you have to leave to come home!

Many moons ago, before DH had found his reason for living (before we met, in other words:rotfl: ) he got a massive sliver of pressure treated wood in his foot. Went to doctor, doctor take out. No biggie. Fast forward 2 months,, he was having trouble walking from some random foot pain.

Back to another doctor, they did and X Ray, and lo and behold! there is more of the same wood in his little tootsie. So, they did a little in-house surgery to get it out.

The doctor that left the wood in his foot was in connecticut (DH is from Branford).

DH has had foot pain off and on for years, but we thought it was just due to his job. On the X Ray it looks like a smallish splinter. maybe 1/2 inch long. From the way he and his mother tell it, the original injury was pretty bad, beginning with an ER visit and ending in the botched surgery.

He has one of those velcro shoe thingies to put on, but he just can't put much weight on it yet. Such a small incision, but it may as well be a foot long when it's on the bottom of your heel!
So the splinter moved from the tootsie to the heel?

I'm glad your DH "survived" surgery. While his foot hurts you might mention it would be a good idea to get an ECV at the parks. :flower3:
Hope the crack in the tub isn't serious. :)

I am glad that's over with. Do you think he will be able to walk all over disney world ? Maybe you could push him in a disney stroller.:rotfl2: I hope he gets better soon. Are the boys excited? My ds is so excited. My dd 15 is to cool to get excited. I almost decided to leave her home with her grandmother, but I can't do that. She will magically turn back into my little princess when we get to disney world (it could happen). pixiedust:

Um... I use tootsie as a silly word for foot. Were it a toe, I probably would have called it a "piggie". I don't have any silly word for the ball of your foot... I'm sure I could come up with something if it would make you feel better :confused3

Our flight is leaving e a r l y, we will be at MCO at 9:30.. I WANTED that extra day!! :rotfl2:

The crack in the tub wasn't very big, but it was right around the drain, tho. I just caulked it and hopefully that'll do the trick! I should be able to shower in the morning... :rolleyes1

Hmm... a Disney stroller.... wonder if he'd go for that... he sure can ACT like a baby!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well, before I go to bed, we'll be down to 3 days! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am considering packing tonight... or just being lazy on the computer... :surfweb:

Hi Mickie.

4 more days!!!

I say tootsie, too...Must be a mommy thing:cutie:

Only 2 days! I'm getting excited for you. :dance3:
In case you don't have time tomorrow to be on the DIS, Have a great time!
