Missing The Old Food And Fun Cards...

 Several years ago, Disney offered the old "Food and Fun" card that allowed a family to eat whatever and whereever they desired and also included recreation such as the mini sprite boats. We were able to go to dinner shows and charracter dining without little limits. Why is it that Disney has to mess with a good thing? Now we're planning again for another late June '07 visit and the dining plans offered these days either break the bank with the premium dining plans, or, leave you hungry and limit the amount of dinner shows, charracter dining and taking away credits by charging your basic dining plans two credits. We want to go to Cinderella's castle for a character birthday breakfast, but geezzzz, it will use up a third of our credits. For a stay at a premium resort like the Polynesian and it's cost of $5000 to $8000 dollars (of which could be a down payment for Florida property), you'de think that more dining options would be offered. But, hey, people pay it... BUT once again, we'd be going to Disney World a lot more often if they were not wacking our pockets they way they do. Bring back the Food and Fun. Well, we're still excited anyway for our upcoming visit for the Fourth of July week, no one offers better fireworks displays anywhere in the US than Disney.:dance3: PS...Sorry about the poor spelling, it's early and I haven't had my Kona coffee yet.:confused3

There is no question that the more valuable something is, the higher the price is going to be. It sure would be nice if we could get the Premium Plan, for example, for the price of the Dining Plan, but alas that's not to be. Disney would be silly to offer something like Food 'n' Fun at the same price they offer the Dining Plan, don't you think?

I do agree with you, but I still miss it, they've made the dining plans either unobtainable to some with the premium packages. It is great that they offer the dining plans in the first place, but as a visitor, it gets really confusing as to how to which plan to pick. I.e. If I pick the basic plan, our credits will be used up in no time by going to a couple character breakfasts such as Cinderella's round table and a couple dinner shows. Then, once used up in three or so days, I have no clue of what my bill will be after a 7 to 10 night stay with kids. I ask myself, which out-wheighs which? Are we better off spending the extra $1500 on the premium package? Or, do we simply just keep a running tab? I have three daughters and a new grandson, and each will be celebrating something during our visit, so, we'll plan on dinner and fantasmic, Cinderella's round table, the Hoop De Doo, the Polynesian dinner show, and then some, this will in no doubt wipe out our basis dining plan, I wondering what the cost's will be after our 10 night stay. It's so hard to figure, I wish I had a crystal ball to see how well the kids will eat, even myself and others, some days we're just satisfied with a cup of coffee, other days we can eat a cow, lol. Again, it's all business and no business wants to loose money, but, I'd like to see an offer in between the basic plan and the premium w/o having to tack on $1500 that we may or may not utilize. Wouldn't it be nice if you can make up your own dining schedule each day? Thanks for you're imput!

I just wanted to add to my last post, does anyone think that with the premium dining plan, if they left out the other perks that have nothing to do with dining such as the recreation part of it, that Disney could offer us that pan at a cheaper rate? Or, does it confuse things?

I don't think the "Fun" part of the Premium Plan really amounts to much money. Figure people can't eat and play at the same time, so one takes time away from being able to do the other, and both take time away from being in the parks, so it all balances out.

Yes, I miss the old Food N Fun card......the one that predated the not so good plan that gave you a $55 a day credit for your $50 per person.

I disagree that the "Fun" portion of Premium Plan amounts to much money. Some of the things that are included in the recreation portion are worth a lot, and it would be rather easy to take advantage of some of them. Whether you make use of enough of them to justify the high cost of the plan? That's another question.

Under the old old Food N Fun card we took advantage of a ton of recreation options, among them the Breathless Illuminations Cruise. That relly was a great plan...........
