Missing the Adventurers Club

Anybody know if any of the other bars on Pleasure Island offers the drinks from the Adventurers Club?

Who doesn't miss it. I hope the rumors are true about it reopening soon. Even the thought of a dinner show there would be a nice concept and I think people would pack into that place.

Take the Atlantic Dance Hall at Boardwalk (not many people go there), gut it. Build it into the Adventurer's Club, then you have that sitting next to Jellyrolls. Charge ten bucks for one club or fifteen for both. You could do the outside as an old looking building and even have some old boats docked like its a distant port of call...adventure.

That's my idea.

AD is contracted to the Swan and Dolphin hotels until 2013 so it's not possible to do anything to it for at least four more years. Our best hope is Disney reopening AC in its current location. AC is available for private rentals but I'm only aware of one such event in September and it's completely sold out.

I know, it was just one of my "blue sky" ideas is all. I've also heard rumors that AC could re-open as a dinner show type deal, but nothing more than rumors so far. Disney is really shooting themselves in the foot with this one. If I were an executive, I would certainly take notice of all the private show sell-outs and popularity this has around it...and reopen the place.

Why stop there, why not lease the building and open it for good? Disney would then see how much money you're making and realize what a big mistake they made.

Disney just wants to outsource everything; not operate it. So if you had the money you could probably lease the place and hire whoever you want to staff it. But how to charge for the shows so that you don't lose all your money is the tricky part.

Topless Adventurers Club? I'm sure Larry Flint would do it in a heartbeat. Somehow I think Disney would object.

Therein lies the problem to me. As a small business owner leasing the place, there's no way I could provide the benefits that Disney can/does. Health and vacation, discounts, "Name recognition" for future work. Which is better on their resume..."acted at Floydian's Bar" or "Disney Cast Member/Actor/Actress/Performer" or whatever they'd say. From working with them for a very short time, I know a lot of aspiring young performers are there as much (or more) for the experience and name as they are for the Disney magic. It just wouldn't be the same without the Disney quality theming and performers.

To answer the OP's original question, probably out of luck finding a Kungaloosh, but a few of the old AC bartenders work the remaining outside bars at PI, and they may remember the old recipes.

As an alternative, just about every recipe is online somewhere. Look it up, get an idea of the ingredients, and any decent bartender should be able to make up a close approximation.

It's September 25-27th (the anniversary of the closing.) A group called the Congaloosh Society is putting it on. The reception in the AC itself sold out pretty fast, but there's also a banquet dinner with a panel of former AC cast members at one of the Hotel Plaza Blvd. hotels too, looks like there are 18 spaces left for that. They have a web site, http://www.congaloosh.org, with the full info.

Anyone else out there going?

I miss it that is for sure!! I am going to be there in September! Both of the big events have been sold out for awhile though...
