Missing School...

Okay, so last year I missed 3 days of school for our trip to FL in October. I didn't have trouble making up the work, and none of my teachers gave me a hard time about it.

However, this December, I will be missing seven days of school...
I'm not worried about the work that much, but I'm worried about telling my teachers about it. I mean, what will their reactions be, to a senior in high school missing that much school for a vacation? Also, our school has a new attendance policy. I think I might be put under social suspension for missing that much school in a semester (which means no extracurricular activities like drama club... for a couple weeks) unexcused. On top of that, as a new incentive to get kids to come to school, if I were to miss only 6 days or less, I'd get a FREE senior prom ticket.

If I could, I'd rather go during a school vacation... but we can't. My mom can only get this time off of work, and everything is already paid for, so I have to go (not that I'd want to miss WDW!)

What kinds of experiences have you all had with missing school to go to WDW?

Yeah, my school has a pretty strict attendance policy too. Last year i went on the 7-Day Disney Cruise, so i missed over a week of school. Sure, it was hard to make up the work... i almost didn't GO because of school, but i would trade ANYTHING to go back!!

I was a Junior last year, and sure my teachers gave me a bit of crap about leaving for a week, but it's not like my life was over or anything. Just make sure you let the school know ahead of time that you're leaving (We have a "Pre-Arranged Absence" form to fill out), and hopefully you won't get put under the whole "social suspension" ordeal... If you go out and do it, that's fine - they mostly make those rules to scare people (Students & Their parents) into not taking family vacations or ditching school.

Plus, you're a senior in high school! You're almost out!! You've practically earned it already! (Plus by then all the college apps are pretty much all due, so it's all senioritis from then on out!!)

So my advice is, don't worry about it! Just sit back and relax, and it's the school's problem if they seriously care that you leave!! Your parents will understand, anyways, because they're the ones taking you out of school!!

Have Fun, by the way! A week in Disney is a dream come true!!

i just went on the disney magic last week, and wound up missing 6 days. i had to get all my teachers to sign a Vacation Policy form. Since it was just the first few days of classes, I really didn't miss too much work, but I still didn't like doing it! Even though the trip was worth it.....

Yeah I had to make my own spring break one year because our school didn't have one.But it was totally worth it!!!Don't worry about it because you will be in the "happiest place on Earth".

you guys are lucky....
my schools policy is if you miss 6 days....you fail the term...and get an AF (attendence failure) for all your classes....no matter how well you did....its crazy!
The only excuse you can have is medical or family emergency....but there very strict on that too!

have fun on your cruise though!
