I know I've heard/read the reason why before, but couldn't re-find it...

Why are January, May, July and November "missing" from the available/valid Use Years? What was the original purpose of leaving those four months out? I think I remember hearing some administrative reason, maybe?

May because it's a fabulous use year that would cover the low points seasons (may, September) and all holidays is my theory 🤣🤣

Except that when DVC started and the UY were established, the summer was the high-point season because that was the high demand hotel season. then Thanksgiving and Christmas, but most of the fall was relatively lower cost.

But now you've got me thinking - I remember that the points charts had seasons that matched the hotel seasons pretty much exactly, but I can't remember whether the four months that don't start UY were the months the seasons started!

Would be curious to know because I can't figure out why leave out the other ones 🤔

DVC started with 51 units in 1991, with more to open in early 1992. I believe the current Use Years go back to then (1991/1992). DVD originally thought that two-bedroom units would be the most popular. (Correct answer: studios). And from 1991 to 1999, owners also received free admission to the parks when staying on points. Original minimum purchase 230 points. $51 per point. Then went down to 190 points as minimum in either 1992 or 1993 (likely as they figured out most families didn't want a two-bedroom unit and the point minimum was too high). Then 150. Then 160 (hence all of those odd 160 point resale contracts). So please, send me back to 1991 for a few months. I'd like to buy a few things there.

Shoot send me back to 2018 before resale restrictions were a thing and member perks applied to all. I regret missing that boat 🚢

Wouldn't mind going back to 1991 either and pocket a couple millions bitcoins, I would even be able to stomach the direct prices if I had those 🤣
