Missing food at Disney

They didn't have them in August, and the girl at the counter had no idea what I was talking about. She convinced me to try the cream cheese pretzel. Three bites (one for each of us) and it ended up in the garbage. YUCK! It seemed everything dd really wanted was gone this time.

I forgot about those and YES we looked for them in MK in July and they were no longer there. BOOOHOOO. We all loved them.

No! That's like my ultimate favorite snack! I was so excited for my fiance to try one on our honeymoon :( Thank you for letting me know :sad2:

The little bakery window is still there, but now it's just outside. The cinnamon rolls and turnovers were almost as good as we remembered. They aren't hot like they used to be, but I think they weren't 2 years ago either.

Thanks for the info. I didn't even look. I look forward to one even if it isn't warm:)

Can you miss an entire restaurant? :goodvibes

Papeete Bay Verandah at the Poly
Town Square Cafe before it became Tony's; when it served breakfast
Getting a real, freshly made peanut butter (no jelly) sandwich at Aunt Polly's
Concourse Steakhouse
Chef Mickey's when it was at DTD, then called the WDW Shopping Village

Candee

I miss the sandwich at Aunt Polly's too and the soft serve in the Castle plastic cup. I still have one of those cups! Something about that soft serve...I think it's the same stuff that's served at Crystal Palace.

I miss breakfast at Town Sq. too. I remember the little sparrows would fly in. It may seem gross but at the time it was very cute and Snow White-ish!:lovestruc

OMG I remember eating at Chef Mickeys at DTD years and years ago. We went for lunch...I think.

We got the spicy cheese pretzels for the first time from middle to end of May and are our new favorites. But we only found them at MGM, I don't remember the name of the place but walk toward the hat but before you get to it, turn to the left and there's a stand that sells frozen lemonade and the spicy cheese pretzels. We bought a bunch so we could take them to other parks with us. I know I should be ashamed to tell ya'll that!

As far as food that we miss, my youngest daughter (who is famous for eating nothing but continuing to live) was LIVID  when she found out The Columbia Harbor House has done away with the kid's chilled grilled chicken chunks, chedder cheese chunks, green grapes, and mickey mouse head cheezit thingys.

We were equally horrified since The Girl Who Eats Nothing will only eat 4 things at Disney World 1) occasional funnel cake 2) kids's meal mentioned above 3) popcorn during Spectromagic......maybe 4) frozen strawberry bar.

Now you see why we have to make/take our own wraps! I've never seen such a picky eater in my life! No fried foods, not much for sweets, pretty much likes grilled meat, cheese, and steamed or raw vegatables.......how in the world did my deep fried, smothered in gravy, with a cat head biscuit self get a kid like that?:rotfl:

When did they stop making the spicy cheese pretzels? We were there in May and they still had them... they're my favorite! Please tell me it's not true! :scared1:

Unfortunately it is true. :sad2:

It must have been super recent. The first time I noticed it was about two weeks ago. I was walking through the park, passed up a turkey leg, passed up a churo, passed up ice cream, because I was determined to get a spicy cheese pretzel. I got to the window and I looked at the menu, and it wasn't there. I asked the guy if they still had them and he said no. Needless to say I about exploded. I don't get angry very often in Disney but I was fuming internally. I walked away from the window with this extremely pitiful look on my face and I went into CoP and cried. No I'm just kidding about the last part! haha!

Anyway, I know the cream cheese ones are nasty because they accidently gave me one of those by accident instead of the spicy one, one time, and I thought I was going to hurl! :scared1:

Maybe we should all write Disney a letter of sadness so they'll bring back the spicy cheese pretzel!

Thanks I'll have to look at MGM, but they had them at Magic Kingdom when I went in May also, but they may have completely quit selling them everywhere after that. It does make me want to cry! Not really, but it's very disappointing :( I haven't broken the news to my mom yet- she'll be crushed!

Back in the '70's they had a fried shrimp basket at Columbia Harbor House... I remember that because we used to go there each time we went to WDW when visiting gram and gramps... :grouphug:

Food I miss wow there is a lot!!!

Back in the day Pecos Bill's used to serve terriyaki burgers and waffle fries and they were the best things in the world!

Also a long time ago over where Raglan Road now is there was a counter service place called Merriweather's and it was awesome. It had all different stations so everyone in our family would eat at different places they had incredible rotisserie chicken, a tuna sandwich that was to die for and this crazy dessert thing that was like a giant apple fritter and was to die for!

Also there used to be Minnie Mia's pizzaria in the DTD marketplace and that was pretty darn tasty.

More recently (maybe 2 years ago) I got the Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi at Kona Cafe and it came with mushroom risotto. Then it disappeared off the menu - when it returned it now comes with sticky rice and it's just not the same.

The pre-Princess Akershus cold buffet and entire menu. I didn't like anything there during our last 2 visits, with the exception of the desserts.

Clam chowder in a bread bowl at Columbia Harbour House.

Turkey panini sandwiches and the "original" Figaro Fries at Pinocchio Village Haus. Our trip in August the Figaro Fries had only cheese and bacon bits. They use to have lettuce, tomato, and ranch dressing.

Simba Paws at Animal Kingdom and AKL.

The steak sandwich on ciabatta bread, served open-faced, with romaine lettuce and a creamy bleu cheese dressing at the Sci-Fi. Also at Sci-Fi, the Caprese salad.

The chicken pasties at the Rose & Crown.

queso fundido at mexico.

The waiter told us it was the most popular item on the menu, but it took too much of the waiter's time (assembled at the table).

Please tell me the elephant ears (palmier) at the French bakery are not gone.
Are you sure? This is almost enough to make me cancel my trip to WDW.

I miss the molded Mickey butter too. Don't forget the Derby hats at Brown Derby.

The cinnamon rolls were fresh baked at Tuker House and at the Food Court in The Land. No more. You could smell the cinnamon wafting through the air.

I miss Crokett's Tavern steaks and fajaitas.

The veal chop with black truffels and fettucine Alfredo at Alfredo's...

The Lobster Pasta at Palio.

I could go on and on.

I am sure there are more things I cannot recall but here are two: the monkfish at Jiko; yes I know they use Halibut now, not quite the same; and the mac n cheese with the pork chop at AP, which I've requested as a side.

The grilled pound cake dessert at Liberty Tree Tavern....yum!

:scared: :scared:

I dug up this old thread just to complain about the lack of Elephant Ears in France!!!!!

It was truly on of our favorite things to do at night. Get Elephant Ears in France and watch Illuminations! Last year we thought maybe they just ran out because of the storm Faye and the night we went they actually cancelled Illuminations.

This year, again, no Elephant Ears! They are still listed up on the board behind the CM though.

Isn't it kind of stupid how something so minor can make you so mad? But we all have our traditions!

Carry on....
Anyone else missing something?

So the spicy pretzels are back?! :woohoo: Probably shouldn't get too excited, since I don't have a trip planned, and they may well be gone before I get there.

I remember that, our family loved it. Way back when, you used to serve it to yourself. We could get four to six servings out of each skillet. We would sometimes order one of those for each family member and that would be our meal. :rotfl2:

Then they started requiring the server to serve it. When we asked why we were told this was because too many people were sharing each order, you were only supposed to get two servings out of each skillet. They would not let us serve ourselves any more. It ticked my Dad off enough that he has refused to go back. Being served like that made him feel like a child.

I did not know they got rid of it, he will not be surprised.

Progress

Beaver tails at Trapper Bob's at Canada in Epcot
Jumbo Shrimp & Pineapple w/carmel sauce at 'Ohana
Tangeriene Cafe used to have a lamb dish, I think it was lamb meshoui? Much better than the shawarma platters.

*Monte Cristos from CCH.
* In Japan where the Kaki Gori stand is they used to sell little cake fish filled with sweet red bean paste. man I loved them.
*The buffet in Norway before the princesses was the best on property
*All of Alfredo's.
Oh one more
* Beaver Tail's from Canada with sugar and Lemon.
Now I am sad.
