Missing food at Disney

I keep hoping with every trip that they bring them back. I am not a mickey bar fan but I love those choc. chip cookie icecream thingies.

FUDGE>>>They switched to a trans fat free fudge and it is GROSS so dry and nasty.

Rubyprincess:

You know I got fudge in July and thought it was horrible..but I got it back in Liberty Square and thought that was it. I am sure the Main Street fudge is bad too then.

Anyways, the food item I miss is the alligator they used to serve at Flagler's. I had it only one time, in 1989, and have not had alligator since. It was delicious!!! I understand Flagler's closed about ten years ago (a shame, it was a great restaurant) but is there any other spot in WDW that has a similar dish?

They also had alligator at Narcossee's in the late 80's early 90's. Kind of looked (and tasted) like a boneless bbq chicken appetizer.

I really miss the steak sushi appetizer at California Grill. I don't eat fish so having the sushi meat made from steak was delicious.

i miss the restaurant at Wide World of Sports - great menu
loved the veggie wraps at Sunshine Seasons
like the last post - miss the fettuccine alfredo - nothing beats the real thing

Shrimp and Artichoke dip served w/tomato basil chips use to be a fav at Olivia's OKW.

This is more of a menu choice but I miss the cup of soup and half sandwich at Columbia Harbor House. The tuna sandwich and veggy chili was my favorite lunch at MK. Now I'd have to order the full sandwich and a bowl of soup - too much food. :( I've heard that it was too hard for people to figure out and was slowing down the ordering process:confused3

I will 3rd the Hercules Bars. If you could see me, I'm pouting right now because they don't have those!

Also, the spicy cheese pretzels in Tomorrowland, all they have are the cream cheese pretzels now and those are gross!

When did they stop making the spicy cheese pretzels? We were there in May and they still had them... they're my favorite! Please tell me it's not true! :scared1:

Definitely the potatoes at 'Ohana.

A close 2nd is the old vegetable entree at Rose & Crown. It was several root type vegetables wrapped in phyllo dough and covered with a mustard cream curry sauce.

Really? Lately I feel like the fudge has tasted way better/fresher than in the past.

I miss the strawberry swirls from Enchanted Grove.

Fettucini Alfredo from Alfredo's....Oh man that was some of the best food I've ever had in my life! So rich and creamy and cheesy and awesome.....I just try to keep dreaming about the next place that could make it as good...perhaps in Italy....

And Beaver Tails....I'm another one who always called them elephant ears, but I'd eat them no matter what they're called! This is one thing that at least I can get elsewhere...I look forward to the local fair every fall just for these!

I'm another who doesn't enjoy the new hot dogs or the new fudge...I tried both on the last trip and I just wanted them out of my mouth! I also miss regular bad-for-me white buns, the whole wheat ones taste like paper!

The Beef and Barley soup from Le Cellier was great! Although, now I just make it at home and it's delish!

We were so sad to discover last week that the gjetost (the cooked goat cheese slices) was gone from the cold buffet at Akershus. The server told me the servers were unhappy about it too. They seem determined to stamp out every semblance of Norwegian-ness out of Akershus.

Maple glazed filet at Le Cellier
Soup in a bread bowl at Columbia Harbor House
Pineapple and caramel at Ohana
Strawberry Swirl in MK

Strawberry Swirls from Enchanted Grove

They also eliminated my favorite sandwich from Columbia Harbour House (the name escapes me, but it was the one with the broccoli slaw--NOT the tuna sandwich). Now it's chicken nuggets and more chicken nuggets. :(

I really miss two entree's from the lunch menu at LTT.

The first was a pork chop meal (I can't remember a lot about it, but I used to order it for years at least twice per trip) - It had some kind of sweet butter on it and it was so good.

The second was the salmon on a pumkin bread griddle cake with a butternut squash sauce over the top.

Ahh miss both as well as the sweet tea and bread with honey butter (not served at lunch anymore)
