I recently used code WN328 from Mary Warings' site and received a great rate from Dollar on a minivan. Reviewing the site today I see that the code has been removed from her site. Does anybody know why? When I tried the code today at the Dollar site the rate had tripled! Should I be concerned with this?? Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim/Hawk

I can't explain why your code went bad but I'm using promo code KISS2 with Dollar for our Nov. trip and it took almost $100 off. We're able to get a full size for 9 nts. for $221 incl. all taxes.

Try the Magic Card Corporate code 004M001010 for Thrifty. It beat the Dollar code by $20.

For our trip in Nov, Thrifty's base price was more than Dollar's total after taxes and they're off-terminal.
Maybe it just depends on the time of year and how far in advance you're looking.
Also Thrifty tells you what % each tax/fee will be but never gives the total after taxes. I think it could be very misleading for a newbie.

Newbie here! ;) Does that mean I should be suspicious of my low Thrifty rate? Am I going to get there and have it cost much more?

Alright I need some help. I can not find where you put the promo code on the dollar website. Please help!

I also used the WN328 code for my rental in March and it gave me the best rate on a minivan I could find(I've been trying various codes for months now). This particular code is from Southwest and had a "must book by a certain date" requirement so I'm sure thats why its dissappeared from her web site as the booking date has expired. Hope this relieves your fears.

Thanks for the info folks.

hi all, I just made ressies for a mini van for a week, I tried both those codes and they worked, but the one that saves you the most is the code they provided for me which was 7COM. not sure if its for the time I am going but saved alot using it.

I would check it carefully to see exactly what's included. Most other car rental companies state in your ressie the base price and taxes. For our Nov. trip we're booked with Dollar and it states the base price is $168.97 but after all taxes the grand total is $221.99.
That's a pretty big difference so if a company is only showing its base price, it isn't telling you the total. FL has so many mandatory fees, (like airport fees, licensing fees, state taxes, etc.) it really jacks up the price.
Thrifty is the only website I've seen that does that. Most spell it out clearly. You could always call them and ask what the total will be after all taxes/fees.
