I got distracted by the NBA game last night... In a nutshell what happened on last night's episode of "Colonial House"?

The Goveners family finds out that their daughter, Amy, is facing hospitalization. They dont' tell you what for though. They end up leaving, passing down the Govenership to that annoying little man.. the older one w/glasses (I can't remember names!). I think the power goes to his head.. he does NO LABOR at all. Anyway, they finish the new family's house. A company man comes in to assess their living arrangements, and how they are doing. He has more power than the govener, and wants to get them all working. He has them doing much more and they are starting to be much more productive. Mr. Voorhees? ends up stepping down from his council position since his wife won't attend the Sabbath, and this could affect the colony's assessment in the end. Did I miss anything?

Well, two of the big things that happened was that the Govenor's family has left. Their eldest daughter, who was home taking care of the son that was in the car accident, needs to be hospitalized, so they made the decision to leave the project. Very sad because I liked them and felt that they were really trying to stay true to the project. Also, one of the Freemen, Dan left. He is African-American and felt that the project was getting too "close" to the slavery issue and it was making him uncomfortable. So he chose to leave the project also.

The lay pastor (Don) was named to be the new Govenor (what were they thinking??), John Vorhees is a new councilman and the other Don (Freeman) was named assist. Govenor or something like that.

THere was some shifting around of people ..... Jonathon, the pastor's servant was moved over to the previous Govenor's house to live with the servants in that house. He felt quite put out and hurt.

BUT THEN.... arrives a new "Cape Merchant" sent by the powers that be in England. He is there to be sure that they are keeping up their end of the bargain and are going to be able to pay back their debt as well as survive for the winter. He really kicked things into gear!! They don't all like him as he has to kind of "step on toes" to do his job, but I think he is doing just fine.

The Lay Pastor/new Govenor's wife was quite a sight. She really took her husband's new status to heart ...... she had the servants help her rearrange her whole house so that it was "more in fitting to the status of a Govenor"! She basically kicked their servant to the curb, having him move next door to sleep with the other servants. (Maybe she was just looking for a little "quality time" with the Govenor!) She organized a large "dinner party" for the whole colony in honor of the new Cape Merchant. She was not pleased that most people did not dress up for the occassion. As Michelle Vorhees put it.... "What am I supposed to wear, my other dirty skirt??" :p (I found that quite funny). Anyhow, that was most of it. I did fall asleep before the end. I have it taped on my DVR so I will watch the rest later today (while I fold laundry!). I'll come back and report if anything else important happened...................P

Has the Lay Pastor ever lifted a finger to help anyone? I swear all that man does is sit around and drink.

You mean he actually sits down? LOL All I ever see him do is stand there with his arms folded, WATCHING.. oh yea, he strokes his beard too! LOL He drives me nuts!

The best part of the shows last night was when one of the other colonists (a freeman I believe) started doing his impression of the lay pastor. It was too funny.

Gosh! Was I the only person rooting for an Indian attack or plague to hit the colony last night? Ugh! After the Wyers family left the place just went downhill. :( I am sick of the Heinz's, he and his wife are so crooked it's pathetic. Her eavesdropping on all the conversations and telling everyone what to do. SHE is the Governor now. Second place for most annoying would have to go to Mrs. Voorhees. Her husband needs to grow so youknowwhats fast.

The only redeeming members of the colony left are the Verdecia family. The jury is still out on Jack Lecza (seeing him skinny dipping last night kind of wigged me out)

Dang. I had a school meeting to attend

I'm glad someone started this thread so I could get the updates. Thanks everyone:wave2:

Poor (orignal) governor:( It looked like the family was trying really hard to be "real" (unlike the MAJORITY of the players) and circumstances just kept getting in their way.

Can't stand the lay preacher. All talk - No action. I'm sure he is a thrill to be around in real life:rolleyes: His wife is a piece of work too...although anyone married to him might be a little "off".

"Sorry, I vented." (spoken in a Pumba type voice...)

I am waiting for the Native American's to open a casino :p

The preacher and his wife sure had a power trip going on last night. I thought the best thing about the show was the skit put on by the servants after the dinner party and when the pastor's servant did his interpretation of the book of genisis and really put the new governor and his wife in their places. Guess he made them feel bad enough to ask him to move back in with them.

I only caught part of it last night but I did love the impression of the pastor! Too funny!!!! And that pastors wife! She gives us all a bad rep. Loved her "servant" busting her on camera eavesdropping.

SSB is with you, MonkeyBoy... haha! :) Was a bad turn when she left....

SSB saw on site that you can buy those three handled mugs... may have to get one! ;)

It is nice to know that there are others who see the "new Governor" and his snooty wife as do nothings. I am very disapointed with the 20th/21st century mentality that is ever present. They are playing a roll and Vorhee's wife need to understand that! She is not being religiously persecuted! It is roll playing from another time when this was the way of life.

The first gov and his family I really dug....I was sad to see them go. I hope all is much better for them now.

This New merchant guy really knows how to stir the pot. It will be interesting to see how the other shows play out.

Doesn't the next episode come on tonight? I saw the previews, looks like they are going have to deal with some hostile Indians from another tribe that want them gone. I am rooting for the Indians! Whoo Hooo! :p

Just wanted to say I was glad to see the old governor go. He annoyed me. Now if they can just get rid of the new governor.....
