Until Fundraiser month on PBS :p

Hrrrrmmmmm..... maybe that is when SSB can score one of the 3-handled mugs! haha!

Did anyone catch her video diary when she talked about her hubby not being appointed gov from the start. Something along the lines of "since it wasn't Don we thought that it would be a high powered CEO". They think they are the most brilliant people in the project. I think there attitude will hurt them in the end. They already think they know everything and will probably come away with the least from this experiment.

thanks for the great updates! I didn't get home from work until after 9:30 last night.

So, what did you think of the final two installments? Do you think they deserved to remain in the New World?

Missed the last 2 hour episode...since this thread is already here, anyone want to update me?

More of the same thing. Whining. Complaining about other people not working hard enough. And the most surprising outcome of all. Even though the colony only returned 10% of the original amount that they were supposed to send back to England, the colony was given the thumbs up for another year based solely on the fact that they stuck up for each other.

My favorite part of the last episode was when Julia (the original governor's servant) showed how hairy her armpits had become after not shaving for several months.

Gee, kinda makes me sad I missed the last episode!

Towncrier, I completely agree with EVERYTHING you said!! I was surprised that they were given the review they received!! AND I loved the armpits!!

BUT, they would be appointed a new governor and Don Heinz would just be the preacher. :teeth: Did you notice to that later he said he was ashamed of his behavior and should have been a better person. ;)

It really made me mad that they focused a lot of the AFTER the show interviews on some of the whiniest people and didn't show any updates on the hard workers like Julia, Claire, the Verdecia family, etc.

I thought the hairy armpit scene was incredible too! Ugh! I couldn't have gone that long without shaving! And did you see how filthy those people where once they got to the hotel and started bathing?

I wondered if these people had any idea of how bad editing might make them look. I mean, Michelle, really came across badly with her refusing to accept Sabbath. Even to the point where she would allow her husband's position in the colony to be threatened. They all knew they would only be there for a few months. What harm would it be to socialize and be peaceful that one day a week? It was amazing to me how spoiled they all came across to be. Do you think that the peoples in the original colonies would have been nearly so disrespectful of authority? Don't you think they would have had a great deal of respect for the authority figures and 'laws' as they would need both to survive? I wondered if they only covered those people they covered after the project because they were the only ones who wanted to participate in follow up. Or, do you think they were hoping those were the individuals we would care about?

Wowsa... SSB somehow missed the armpit scene, TC!! :o

SSB did enjoy a good bit... but did seem that this one more than the others had big focus on "then and now", rather than the real focus of the program (I think) of seeing how it really would have been to live like that, back then.

There were some good characters along the way... :)

actually, i wasn't so upset with michelle as i was with the project. quakers and other religious minorities used to break religious laws like that all the time, and they got punished by puritans. some were even killed. i have no problem with a person following their religious beliefs, but they should have to face the consequences. the governor should have enforced the LAW. after all, that's his job.

Please excuse the following vent...

They wouldn't have survived!!! Pleaszzze:rolleyes: I'm shocked that the "experts" gave them the thumbs up for another year! Overall, I have to say I was disappointed in Colonial House. The people were such whiners, slackers, etc. Why sign up in the first place? Why go through all that training/research just to blow it off?! I have to admit I found it amusing that when the final letter was read aloud, it basically said the lay preacher failed as governor and should be more concern with his people attending the Sabbath. They called the lay preacher a "Man of God"...this was just a way of describing his position...he took it as a complement that he was a GOOD PREACHER!!! I can't believe this "intelligent" man didn't realize this! And (on a positive note) I was surprised that the lay preacher's wife commented afterwards that they had brought their 21st century attitudes with them. Wow! She realized & admitted it. Perhaps I didn't give her enough credit.

I thought they all brought the 21st century with them. I don't see the point of signing up, either, if they had no intention of 'living out the time period'. I can't believe that the original colonists were happy with their lives, either, but they had to live them to survive - religion and all. And this project was during a summertime weather period. Don't even get me started on if it had been cold weather or snowy, these guys would not have made it!
