Hello All!!

My name is Chrissie and I will be starting our very own pre-trip report! Bare with me because I am very new to the boards. I have seen some wonderful trip reports so I wanted to start my own! This will be my daughter Mia's wish trip through Dream Come True foundation of western Connecticut. We leave on the 15th of August and come home the 21st!

We had originally started planning for this trip in April, about 1 week before Mia was diagnosed with Melanoma. Once we had found out she would be going through chemo we discussed moving our "special" trip because lets face it, a kid with Melanoma has no place being in Florida in AUGUST!

After the doctor insisted that we go, we got another phone call. It was a woman who works with my mother and who is on the board of DCT and they offered to take over the planning for us At first we were very hesitant on my peoples generosity and didn't quite understand to handle it with grace and dignity. Now we are 22 days away and getting very excited! Unfortunately/fortunately our dream weaver Laurie was unable to obtain ADR's for dinners that Mia had wanted so I vowed to myself I will call everyday until I get some meal princess

Anyhow, our DW Laurie was very taken aback at our request to remain at POP. This isn't the first trip she has planned and she hasn't even heard of pop. She said most families want to stay at CBR and AKL. Not so much for us though. We started planning value we shall stay value.

DCT will be renting us a van, I am not so much the van type of mamma. I am more like the 2 seater convertible mamma But I guess I can suffice for a week. Though I am not thuroughly clear on what resies she did make, I do know that we have a 7am character breakfast And that was something that I was taken aback about. We had planned to do lazy things during the day, take a nap, go to dinner and do parks on the nights that they are open late so Miss Beans can be comfortable and won't get too overheated. Now I will have to step up and get organized! Just an FYI: I have poor grammar and spelling so please install sensitivity chip as I write. So here goes:

Mia's Wish Trip Players:

Mommy--Me of course

Mia--5 (just as evil as Rachel)
Ashley--2 (as sinister as ever)
MeMa--my mom
PopPop--my dad ( a surprise guest)


George, the girls and I arrive late night on the 15th, so that night we shall unpack and decorate the room! I discovered ACmoore folks! Look out!

On Saturday, we have to be at GKTW to visit and do an orientation
On Sunday Mk is open late so we shall go after dinner
On Monday MGM is open late and MeMa and Pop Pop arrive ( The girls don't know he is comming)
On Tuesday we will be doing the grand adventures in cooking!!!!
On wednesday AK it is because of late hours
Thursday we fly out at 3!
( I am sure I will fill that in as I get more info)

Good gravy, its at Chef Mickeys, laurie our planner was unable to get dinner ressies for us but she did get us in to Ohana's at 8:10 AM so I can try to plan some rope drop days.

Of all the years I have gone, I have never done a rope drop! Since being here I have seen many dis'ers talk about the rope drop! How excited I am let me tell you! I tried to call the reservations hotline earlier but their computers were down. I shall keep on trying.

Has anyone else done spread sheets? I am going manic here with one

Alright, so I gathered all of the park info and the info that the DW laurie gave us and placed it all on an excel sheet. I have it somewhat organized with our days. My husband is very " Lets not plan and wing it, it's all about what the girls want to do" I was like um yeah NO...With everything going on with ADR's We have to plan silly. So here is a list (a rough itinerary)< I am sure it will change a million times but hey a girl can try right?

We are getting so excited 10 days to go before we leave! Mia received her GKTW package in the mail and was beside herself. She was also sad at the same time because I told her she would have to get her injections during our vacation. I am thinking I can give them to her in the morning before we go out and about that way we won't have to wrangle with it if we get back to the room late. Hopefully we can manage the treatment effects in the parks.

Since my Mom and Dad are coming, they have offered to take the girls one day and go to Sea World while me and George can have some time to ourselves. We are still considering it, but not too sure if we will be able to actual go through with it the day of. This is Mia's trip after all so we will see how it all comes together.

I did find out that we do get tickets to Universal as well but I don't think we will use them. Most of our days were planned at WDW so I am not sure how that is going to work since they only give you 3 day park hoppers. I will have to call our DW Laurie to find out how that will work.

My friend Claire will be coming over this week so we can start crafting so we can decorate our window when we arrive. I have so much that needs to be put together and I am wondering if I will have time for it all. I have been feeling super lazy and I just need to get organized so I know what I need to get done.

Boy did we have a change of plans! Our DW Laurie should be coming over tonight or tomorrow to get is all the final paper work. We had to work around some of the tickets/schedules so I think it works out that we only have to buy one day passes which isn't bad.

HURRAY! We finally got together with our dream weaver Laurie yesterday and got our final itinerary. She gave the girls backpacks filled with goodies and told us about all of the exciting things we will be doing! We are getting so excited! So I have actually finished up the decorations for our window and started packing!

I am sure this will change once we arrive but it's nice to have an idea of whats going on and how Mia handles everything. Possibly adding more parks into the mix as we venture along. We even got Mia a cute tinkerbell insulated lunch box for her medication and she LOVES IT! She asked that we label it so sisters won't use it, that made me laugh. Off to do laundry so I can fill the suitcase

Did you know about the first aid centers in each park? If her meds need to be refrigerated, they can be left there! The centers are staffed with nurses and can be a terrific resource.

Mia had went today to see her oncologist. I got the luxury of staying home to pack (kidless) Yes, my husband took all 3 girls with him so I can get this done. The girls are just about done I just need to get their jammies and shoes and we will be good to go! George and I, well thats another story I have bags of clothes that I need to go through and decide what I will be wearing and him too. He is easy though, basketball shorts and a muscle t-shirt does him good. I have recieved awesome packing tips that I am trying to utilize today....while I should be packing... i am here reading

How lucky that Dad would take the girls with him for Mia's appt. Sometimes that bit of alone time is more precious than gold. Hopefully, you will have a package by tomorrow afternoon for your girls. Better save just a wee bit of space for a surprise for them!

Yes we have plenty of room! I believe we can pack all that we need in the 2 medium size suitcases. Though George and I haven't started our packing yet. it was very nice to get the brunt of the packing while they were at the doctors office. Today I have to take Mia for her progress CT Scan, to make sure the cancer is not spreading during treatment. Then I have work tonight so I can't guarantee that I will get any packing done today I will give it my best shot.

Yes! Yes I did get a package! I wanted to write sooner but I had to be at work! The dresses are absolutely adorable! The girls are wearing them as I type (yes they are sleeping but George swears that they wouldn't take them off) All the bows and clippers, everything was just awesome. When the girls wake up in the morning I will post pictures here. Thank you so much! The girls are wondering who all of you are lol. We were so excited to do this for your family! My daughters helped me a lot by doing the shopping while I did the sewing. It was a joy and pleasure to do something for such a cute family. I am so glad that we can spread the pixie dust. Have a magical time on your trip. Show your girls a map of the United States and then show them Utah and Salt Lake City and tell them that their special pixie fairies live way far away but are close to them in their hearts.

Can't wait for pictures and to hear about the trip!

2 MORE DAYS ! YAY ! I'm sure everyone is sooo excited !The girls will have so much fun spending the day at GKTW.Don't forget to stop in the Icecream Palace for icecream, even if it is for breakfast LOL ! Have a wonderful time ! I'll be looking forward to pictures !

Minor roadblock here!

Mia removed a bandaid from one for her injection sites and it is severly infected. We have to go to the oncologist tomorrow and test her blood levels etc. If the infection compromised her ANC levels we may have to postpone our trip. On monday her levels were lower than normal but in the clear. We are a bit worried here. How do I explain to the girls we may have to put off the trip...will they hate Mia for that? Should I go against the doctors wishes and go and wish for the best?

Any advice here is very much so needed!!!
