Sorry it took so long for responses. The kids came in this weekend and Alisha and I went shopping all afternoon on Saturday and then we took the kids Downtown Chicago for dinner at Lawry's for prime rib. And then, of course, yesterday was Easter and we had Mark's family over.


One of these trips to Elgin, you'll have to let me know and maybe we can meet for coffee somewhere.

I would LOVE that!!! Everyone at work thinks I am crazy for going to Disney so much...so no one ever wants to talk to me about it!! I would DIE for a coffee date with someone that shares my affinity for Disney!!

Next weekends planned are...April 12-14th...April 26-38...May 17-19! I will be dutifully following your PTR and I will get in touch with you when it gets closer.

BTW - 66 days?!?!? OMG!!

Catching up to your day 2 plans Ms. Kat!

Looks like you ladies have a great plan for DHS. I used to be a huge fan of Rockin' Roller Coaster but lately I've been experiencing mild vertigo and my guess is that going upside down and twisting side to side wouldn't be good!

Beaches and Cream looks so fun and ice cream is always a nice way to end a Disney meal.

Love your purchases Kathy, very cute and the bathing suit looks nice!

Aw, Alisha sounds so sweet, such a thoughtful gift! What a wonderful daughter-in-law she'll be. It must be nice to have a girl around, other than Cookie of course.

And a Happy, Happy Birthday to Avery too! I hear ya Mary on the being in denial of your baby turning double digits too. My youngest is turning 10 next week!!! Why can't they just stay little forever??

I had planned on doing all of my responses and update today at work. Then the Vet called.

As you know, Cookie got a pretty good report from her annual check up last week, despite being almost 15-1/2 and having very little sight, arthritis, etc.

Mark dropped her off this morning to have her teeth cleaned and hair plucked out of her ears. Once they put her under, Dr. John found that her mass had come back (the first was removed in 2011). She has squamous cell carcinoma, a malignant mass. It is encompassing about 1/4 of the left side of her lower jaw. Some of her teeth are being affected by the mass. We were given several options of what we could do. We chose to do nothing. At 15-1/2, we don't want to put her through surgery, radiation, etc. The mass will continue to grow and at some point affect her quality of life. So now we will love and spoil her some more, and when we see her quality of life going downhill, we will make our goodbyes and she will join Grandpa, one of the loves of her life, up in heaven.

Now, once I compose myself and stop the tears, I will try to do all of the responses. The update will come tomorrow if I can at work. If not, it will have to wait until I get back from Florida in a week.

Life is cruel that way - a good report and then the news...

You have some time with her, cherish that time and when it is time you will know. It will be hard but you will know you have done the right thing and given Cookie the best longest quality of life.

Oh, Kathy...

I am so sorry the tumor has returned...having been down a similar journey we are too familiar with the heartbreak. My prayer is that it will be very slow growing and she will be comfortable for a long time. Please give Cookie kisses from me and hugs to you and Mark.
