oh and dh pronounces it ASHphalt instead of asphalt never understood that one!

and we all know about my family member who says "PwoSon" and "Ta-LONE" for poison and Talon

I don't guess I will talk to any of you if I ever meet you. :D

So many of these are just regional pronunciations. The speaker (or the speaker's family) may be transplanted from a different area of the country.

Excuse me, can i AX you a question? AHHHHHHHHH

I hate when people call "Mrs" Smith - Miss Smith .. or Miss Smith - Mrs. Smith. I notice kids doing that ALL the time in school, lol it definitely bothers me.

One of my friends says supposably - it bothers me too.

The majority of medical professionals that I met like to pronounce it "sahn-tih-meter".
I've never heard it pronounced that way.

Yes, some of these things aren't really incorrect, just regional differences. (warsh, "earl" for oil is a favorite of mine in south Louisiana).

But if you call me a vetinarian, I WILL correct you.

Why is that? Both are correct.

Around here many people say, "ideal" for idea. Grrr... that one really gets me.

Re-la-tor for "realtor"

o-ri-en-ta-ted for "oriented"

new-cu-lar for "nuclear"

......like fingernails on a chalk board.....

I had a government prof. in college who pronounced "nuclear launcher" as "new-clay-ra lawn-chair." 'Course he was from France, and was very cute, so we all (I went to a women's college) thought it was just adorable... Last year I had a little boy in my three year-old preschool class who sang, "Frosty the Snowman, was a jolly happy 'HO!" We used to say he must be watching too much Jerry Springer.:D
