Mispelled name on flight reservation

I was just reviewing my flight information printout from Orbitz and noticed my 7 y/o DD name is mispelled. Do I need to have documents changed? Will I need to verify her name at the airport with 2nd ID (Birth certificate)? Any thoughts? Thanks

Although common sense tells me that a 7 year old with a misspelled name on a ticket should not cause a major problem I think in this post 911 world it is worth the time to get the matter corrected. I would think that correcting this issue on a E-ticket would be an easy matter now and keep you from worrying about it the day of your flight when you don't care to be fumbling with extra paperwork. Good Luck

Was it your error? They may charge you to correct it. I would leave it alone, especially if it is her first name. If it's your last name they may pick up that it doesn't match the other tickets.

I'm a travel agent. This happens all the time. Unless the name on the ticket is TOTALY DIFFERANT than her actual name, I wouldn't bother doing anything about it. Most likely, no one will notice, especially if it's just by one or two letters. Plus they don't ask i.d. for kids anyway on domestic flights.

with everything going on in the world today i would change it to be on the safe side there should be no charge since they mispelled it

Since Orbitz is an online reservation service, it's probable the original poster misspelled it when entering it. If it was an orbitz mistake, then they could ask for a no charge correction.

There is no need to change the name for a 7 year old's ticket. I've flown numberous times with my son since 9/11 and not once have I been asked for id for him. I also deal with the airlines on a daily basis and even for adults most of the time unless the name is TOTALLY different they will just say don't worry about it.

If you pay good money for a ticket why shouldn't they at least make an effort to get the child's name correct? They should acknowledge their mistake and correct it. Is this too much to ask?
Also God forbid something ever goes wrong with a flight you don't want another careless person making an incorrect ID regarding the identification of a loved one. Once again I say just get it right the first time.

Thanks for the input. According to Orbitz I do not need to do anything unless it is the "lead travelers name" that is incorrect.
