Somebody posted about "Drift Away" being one of the classic misheard lyrics with the chorus being misheard as "Give me the Beach Boys..."

I once gave a friend a book titled "Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy" which had LISTS of misheard lyrics.

I actually think the best ones I read, either there or on some website where tons of these things were listed, were Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" heard as "Hold me closer, Tony Danza...count the head lice on the highway" and a line from "Yellow Brick Road" that was heard as "What do you think you're doing? I heard you shot Don MacLean..."

Have to say that with some of these songs I had no idea what the actual lyrics were before reading them.

I heard Dido's White Flag as:

"And I will poke my eyes out and surrender" instead of "and I will put my hands up and surrender"... I still sing it like I hear it :cool1:

I always heard CCR's "Bad Moon On the Rise" as "Bathroom on the right".

There's a website with TONS of these mondegreens, but I can't find it at the moment. I'll see if I can.

There is this one song DS listens to call Liberate my madness and I swear it sound like they say you ate Bananas instead.

My college roommate would always sing "I'll never leave your pizza burning" instead of "I'll never be your beast of burden."

My best friend used to think 'Every Rose has it's thorn' was 'Every Road has its Store'.

It has been many years, and she will never live it down. :rotfl:

I had 2 that come immediately to mind. My grandfather was a contractor and when I was small, I thought Jimmy Buffet was looking for his "lost circular saw" instead of his "lost shaker of salt". :rotfl:
It has only been in the last few years I discovered that what I thought was "four lettered woman" was actually "more than a woman"...never claimed to be the brightest crayon in the box :rotfl2:

For the longest time (a LONG time ago) I couldn't figure out why Eric Clapton was saying "Won't you be my four-legged woman, I'll try to be your four-legged man". :confused3 I finally realized it was "Forever", not "four-legged"!

Funny, I heard this song today and I was telling DW how I used to think he was saying "searching for my lost sugar and salt. Guess I thought the sponge cake he was nibbling on at the start of the song was homemade :)

When I was younger and Janet Jackson's song "Miss You Much" was released, I thought it was "Mishy Mush". :earboy2:

And when my best friend and I were in middle school, the New Kids on the Block were highly popular and of course, we both had the tapes (tapes, lol). One of their songs is "I'll be loving you forever" and there's a line that says "All this love's for you and me" and her mom couldn't believe they were aiming at girls our age by singing "All this slut's for you and me". :rotfl:

How about when you're pretty sure you've got the words right and still have no clue what the song is about?? That's me and Blinded by the Light. I know the words but they make not a bit of sense to me.

There are so many misheard lyrics that I heard over time, I could probabaly write my OWN book. :)

:rolleyes1

"Baillamos....Yo quiero une burrito...." is one of my misheard lyrics, and another is a song by Tatu ( I do not even know the name of the song) where I swear they are singing "Oscar De LaJoya... De LaJoya"! :rotfl:

My co-worker's little boy would sing the line "Put another dime in the jukebox baby" from Pat Benatar's I Love Rock n Roll as "Put another dime in the juice box baby"

:teeth:

When I was like four I think... I used to sing that song "When a Man loves a Woman" only I would say, "When a man loves his walnuts" My mom thought that was the funniest thing. I still don't know where I got that... LOL walnuts doesn't even sound anything like woman. heheh :rotfl: :teeth:

I just remembered another one I screwed up for a long time, from Sting's "Desert Rose" (I think is the name of it).

My version:
I dream of God, who's in the desert Sam

The actual words:
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
