Misheard lyrics

DD always used to sing along to Pete Townshend's "Let my love open the door" when we played it in the house or car. The problem was, she always sang the chorus as "Let Mama open the door".

I always thought it was "Let Milo open the door"

Also used to think the Beatles' "Paperback Writer" said "Pay for that Chrysler"

I thought of another one this weekend - until recently I thought the first line of the Gilmore Girls theme song was "get your a&% on the road" instead of "get yourself on the road". Another oops!

OMG! Me too.... I thought it was either that or "Ain't no Harlem Bad Girl"

The other day DH was singing it as "Aint no harm in that girl"! :rotfl2:

When I was in high school, Salt and Pepa had their first hit, "Push It". Well part of the song is "pick up on this". My friend's 9 yr old brother is in the backseat singing "pick up your d****" :earseek:

My daughter's friend belted out "I will go down with this sh*t!" instead of "I will go down with this ship".

Oh this thread is hilarious. I have tears streaming diown my face from laughing so hard (my coworkers must think I am nuts). I am trying to think of lyrics I have messed up, but it's difficult since I can't stop laughing. :rotfl:

Shania sings a song calle Rock This Country.. There's a line "gonna really go psycho, give it a whirl"..... My DD who is a HUGE Shania fan sang for years "gonna really go sidle" - which wasn't really all that funny until we told her it wasn't a word, and she said "yes, it is, like recital!" Guess Shania was rocking the country at my DD's dance recital in her mind!

For the longest time, I swore the lyrics to the Macy Gray song "I Try" were not "my world crumbles when you are not here". I insisted it was "I blow bubbles when you are not here".

There is also the Hindi song "It's The Time to Disko", and I thought the lyrics "Keh Do Milo Jis Jisko" were "Kaun Mile Dekho Disko"...though unlike other songs, I still insist those are the lyrics, because I can't make out the difference. (side note: in Hindi with Roman script, Disco is spelled with a K).

Blinded by the Light is actually:

"revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night"

Deuce being a reference to a car.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. It's always been one of lifes mysteries. I'm so glad to know the truth. I thought it was:

Wrapped up like a douche, another runner in the night.

DS' version of "Tipsy" is "Everybody in the club getting Pepsi" :rotfl:

We all know this song..."Bad boys, bad boys. Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"

Here's how it sounds in my house (when I want to make the kids giggle).."Bad boy,bad boy. Pick up your dirty shoe. Pick up your dirty shoe 'cause it smells like poo." :rotfl2: :rotfl: :teeth:

George Harrison's Bangladesh - i used to think he was saying
"farmers dead"!

since George Harrison came up, one of the books had George Harrison's "I've Got My Mind Set On You" interpreted as "Wake up, I might sit on you" and it DOES really sound like that.

My mom is the QUEEN of this!! Two of my faves are:

Return to sender by Elvis - she went years thinking it was "return to Zemba" believing that Zemba was a place in Africa

I got my mind set on you - she thought was "I got my say on you" figuring that having your "say" on someone was like having them as your girl/boy friend

A friend thought the Dixie Chicks lyric "can't take back every little chill you give me" was "can't take back every little cherry hit me"

DD loves AC/DC. A couple of years ago Highway to Hell on was the radio and she asks DH if they are saying Highway to Help. Of course he said yes. :teeth:

When I was in junior high I was listening to Urgent by Foreignor. My Mom wanted to know why I was listening to such music. :confused3 She thought they were saying 'Virgin' instead of 'Urgent'.

I thought the Blinded by the Light lyrics were repped up like a duece another soldier of the night. :rotfl:

My personal favorite is from the Eagles. . . Looking for a lover who won't blow my *insert male relative ______ <-Here :teeth:

:rotfl: my version of this song has "wrapped up like a douche on a Saturday night"

In reference to "Blinded By the Light"....I always thought it said...

"blind date by the light, wrapped up like a douche another roamer in the night"

John Mellencamp's "Cherry Bomb"

Always thought it was "when a smoke was a smoke"

One day my husband, his friend and I were singing this song, the friend and I sang exactly the same. My husband, a huge Mellencamp fan was floored that we did not know the lyric is "when a sport was a sport". We actually refused to belive him until we looked it up.
