Hi, hope fellow DVC'ers can help me out here...

Have a few questions about Vero Beach.

1st Q: I believe someone on the DIS mentioned Cabanas at Vero Beach...Can anyone confirm if the cabanas are by the pool, or on the beach? And also, is there a charge to use them? Are chairs included? How do you go about reserving them? :sunny:

2nd Q: We're staying in the Inn Rooms...Where are the laundry facilities? Best time to use them (i.e. least crowded)? Are they coin op, or free like the DVC resorts at WDW?

3rd Q: As mentioned above, we'll be in the Inn Rooms...Is there a DVD player in the room?

4th Q: I've never been to a Publix before...Does the one nearby offer any pre-made meals that we could keep in our room fridge (like sandwiches, salads, etc.)?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

There are chairs, tables and umbrellas near the pool. They are free go to whoever is there 1st. We normally go during the week the 1st week in May and never have any problem at all getting a chair and or table any time of day. Summer might be a bit more crowded, but the crowds are limited to the size of the resort.

The seats and cabanas at the beach you pay for by the day. We have never forked out the $ for them. I just can't see doing that since we normally spend a few hours at the beach and the rest at the pool. We tough it out on the sand. DVC members do get a discount, but it adds up to around $20 to $30 a day, money I can spend better later.

The Inn rooms are great, get a ocean view if you can. They are worth it. Lundry is on the 4th floor (top.) Once again, never found it busy, but it might depend on the time of year you go.

There is a publix pretty near by. Not sure what premade meals they have, but they do have stuff like that.

Have a good trip. I love Vero. If you click on the link in my siggy you can read my trip report to there May 2006.

Thanks for all the helpful info!

We're really looking forward to the trip...We have an ocean view room reserved, so with any luck, we'll get that chance to relax on the balcony and stare at the ocean.

One more quick question for you...Is there a DVD player in the room?

P.S. I read your trip report last week and loved it!

So glad you liked it.

There is a VCR in the room. Vero has not updated to DVD yet. All Inn rooms have VCR at Vero (unlike most DVC that the studios don't have ones in them.) That is part of the charm of Vero, you have time to wacth a movie and relax. :thumbsup2

Most of the ocean view rooms facing east you can go out on your blacony and it feels just like you are sitting right on the beach. :sunny:

Wow, everything sounds divine. I wish I was there now! :goodvibes

We were at VB last week, in an Inn room. It's correct that they have VCR's and not DVD players.

There were plenty of tables with unbrellas around the pool area, and also many lounge chairs. You need to use your room key to get into the pool area.

They were also putting in key entry gates for those coming up from the beach. They'll probably finish those soon, if not already done. So you'll need to take your key to the beach with you so you can get back into the resort when returning from the beach. You'd have your key so you can get back into the room anyway, so it shouldn't be any big deal.

The beach had rental unbrellas and chairs. There were no cabanas. Maybe that's something they do more for summer. Don't know.

At the top of the boardwalk is the rental window for all equipment for the beach: unbrellas, chairs, etc.

I was at Vero April 26th and 27th. I have picture's of the cabana's on the beach. They had them set up lengh wise behind the chairs and umbrellas(i saw 4 total). The cabana's are left folded down until rented. Along with the cabana's were 2 lounge chair's. I also checked out the movie rental book and their appeares to be a decent selection that was free for dvc member's to use. We also went to the Publix in Vero and the super Warmart in Sebastion, both appeared to have everything but didn't notice premade sandwich's but I believe they both had a deli. Susan

As for premade food.... I know the little market (name escapes me right now :confused3 ) offer premade subs and sanwhichs. It is right next to Orchid Pizza. For those of you who haven't visited VB before this is right next to the resort. A 2 min walk!!! :sunny:

VB is our families new home away from home..... enjoy!

There are indeed cabanas. We were there about 3 weeks ago and we rented them twice. There is a DVC discount and I believe it was around $30 for the cabana and two chairs.
