I 've had it for 7 months. I am very happy so far. I spot very lightly on occasion.I have noticed a 7 lb weight gain (nothing has changed concerning eating and exercise habits) and acne which I have never had. I still get PMS which is weird without a period. I am very glad I had it done.I paid apx 450.00for the iud and 150.00 for the office visit for insertion.
My SIL has the copper IUD and bleeds all the time. I have told her to discuss with her doctor about changing.I would get the mirena versus the copper.

I have had 1 c-section and 3 vbacs. This is actually my 2nd paraguard. I had the first one inserted after DD7 was born. About 2 years later, we decided we wanted one more child. Two months after I had it removed, I got pregnant. Got this one inserted one month after DD4 was born. Our pediatrician was actually the one who recommended an IUD since I was breastfeeding DD7 at the time and she didn't really want me on the BC pill plus the pill was causing problems with my migraines. My OB/GYN said he actually prefers the IUD to tubal ligation but he won't insert one unless you have had at least one child and are in a monogamous relationship. I love not having to worry about remembering to take a pill every day. I did have more cramping the first two or three months but now, nothing major. Oh, and the removal is way easier than the insertion! I didn't even know when the dr. had removed my first one. It was even less uncomfortable than having a pap smear. The insertion isn't much worse than a pap smear.
