Mirena

I 've had it for 7 months. I am very happy so far. I spot very lightly on occasion.I have noticed a 7 lb weight gain (nothing has changed concerning eating and exercise habits) and acne which I have never had. I still get PMS which is weird without a period. I am very glad I had it done.I paid apx 450.00for the iud and 150.00 for the office visit for insertion.

My SIL has the copper IUD and bleeds all the time. I have told her to discuss with her doctor about changing.I would get the mirena versus the copper.

I was just going to ask the same thing about c-sections. If it's easier to insert because you've had a child, does that not include c-sections. I never had a baby come out the usual way--sorry if that's TMI!!

My OB discussed it with me and she performed my two sections so I guess she wasn't concerned about that. I didn't do it because I'm scared of the cramping. Maybe I'd be one of the lucky ones who didn't have any trouble. I LOVE the idea of not having periods. And obviously, not having to remember to take my pill every day!

Oh wait, it was the paragard I was thinking of....the non-hormonal one. Synthetic hormones do bad things to my system. :scared:

Has anyone had one or know someone that did after 2 c-sections? My current OB said I can't have one because of scare tissue. He is not the one that delivered my kids. I am just wondering if I need to get a second opinion.

I put them in c-section patients all the time.

Your scar is not in your cervix.

I have the paraguard and no regrets at all. I tell my friends that it is the greatest thing since sliced bread! :rotfl2: I have had 1 c-section and 3 vbacs. This is actually my 2nd paraguard. I had the first one inserted after DD7 was born. About 2 years later, we decided we wanted one more child. Two months after I had it removed, I got pregnant. Got this one inserted one month after DD4 was born. Our pediatrician was actually the one who recommended an IUD since I was breastfeeding DD7 at the time and she didn't really want me on the BC pill plus the pill was causing problems with my migraines. My OB/GYN said he actually prefers the IUD to tubal ligation but he won't insert one unless you have had at least one child and are in a monogamous relationship. I love not having to worry about remembering to take a pill every day. I did have more cramping the first two or three months but now, nothing major. Oh, and the removal is way easier than the insertion! I didn't even know when the dr. had removed my first one. It was even less uncomfortable than having a pap smear. The insertion isn't much worse than a pap smear.

I've never heard that, my doctor recommended it for me and I've had 3 c-sections. I ended up needing a hysterectomy so it was a moot point.
