So I've heard varying reports on the mint julep. I'm thinking of trying one on my next trip. Some people swear by them, Some hate 'em. Whats your opinion?

The Mint Julep is my favorite treat to get in the Park! But it's one of those things that you'll either love or hate after trying for the first time. It's nothing like a real (ie, Kentucky-Derby-Official-Drink) mint julep at all. If you like maraschino cherries, ask them for some extras when you order your mint julep! Last one I got, they gave me like 10 cherries:drinking1

Thank you :) I may try it next time, and I love maraschino cherries!
Your ears are very cute by the way! gotta love the white polka dots, with a red background, matter of fact, I love polka dots, and I especially love the color red! :)

Thanks! They sell them in the Park like that! But I got mine at the thrift store (brand new) for $1 :earsboy:

yeah while the drink looks very refreshing it tastes like super sugary mouthwash. i kept taking little sips hoping i would grow to like it but i just couldn't do it had to toss it out

If you've had a virgin mojito it tastes basically like that drink. It might be a tad sweeter but I don't recall it being 'sugar-y' - and I dont' tend to like supersweet things. They use fresh mint and I think it's mixed with seltzer and sprite (might have some cane syrup thrown in there too). We all loved it!

I'm gonna have to agree. I tried it because I had never tasted it before and it TOTALLY ruined my meal. EEEK.

Don't hate me anyone, its just not for me. It definitely tastes like mouthwash for me. But hey, if you love it, AWESOME!

Another vote for mouthwash! Mine went to waste, as well. :scared: Nasty stuff but I can say I have tried it.

Yummy!!! I love the mint juleps at BB!! :lovestruc My dh, however, is not a fan. :confused3 I guess it depends on your taste buds! My dds and I love them. :lovestruc

I guess it depends on your taste buds!

You know, I read somewhere about tastebuds, and it could truly be the reason some people love juleps and some hate them. Some people just have more tastebuds than other people, and those people are often thought to be "picky eaters," but the truth is really that they get so much more of some tastes, i.e. they are more sensitive to salty/bitter/or sweet, that what seems just fine to some people is overwhelming to them. People with an especially high number of tastebuds are "supertasters" ... no kidding. Weird, huh? :confused3

Put me down for "love 'em!"!!!

Had never tried one before dining at BB during my first visit to DLR last year, now I can't wait to have one again!

I have never had one but want to try one on my next visit. Guess I will put it on my To Do list;)

Thanks for the input everyone! I think DH and I might share one. That way if one of us doesn't like it-no big deal. It's great to hear what everyone else thinks.

Mmm, I love a Disneyland mint julep. :drinking1 It's one of my favorite treats at the park. If I had to describe it, I would say it tastes like mint flavored lemonade.

Just got back from my trip. I tried the mint julep, shared with DH. I t was okay. Not sure if I would order it again, but it was fun to try. I also tried a No-jito (virgin mojito) at Steakhouse 55. It was minty also. By the way the food there is great. Thanks for the input everyone.

Is the Mint Julep cheaper at the Mint Julep bar? (Compared to Blue Bayou)
Or are they the same price?
