Minnie's Halloween Dine or Chef Mickeys?

We've eaten at Chef Mickeys on every trip and have ADR's for our upcoming trip this September. We don't do it because we necessarily love the food, we just enjoy seeing the characters with no lines and it's become a bit of a tradition. TP reservation finder just found me an ADR for a Hollywood and Vine dinner. We've never eaten there but it basically seems like the same kinds of food as Chef Mickeys and I like the idea of the characters all decked out for Halloween.I booked the ADR but now thinking I should choose one over the other since it's the same characters and food. Any suggestions of 1 or the other? Thanks in advance!

I would choose H&V because I think it is nice to see the characters in their Halloween Glad Rags. If getting autographs is important this one will not work though.

If characters are your #1 reason for going, then choose H&V. I will say that I find the food to be much better at Chef Mickey's and was seriously disappointed in the quality of the food at H&V in January. It was bad. We tried most of what was on the menu and were found some tolerable, but most was not good at all. There was nothing that we thought was really good or great. We all really enjoy the food at Chef Mickey's and always have a pleasant meal there. As soon as I write this someone will say the opposite and that they really like H&V, but will never go to CM again. The one thing that you can count on is the attire that the characters will be in and for that alone H&V may be worth it.

I agree with Woodmnky. The food at H&V was awful. We won't be going back. I much prefer Chef Mickey's. Food isn't great but it's tolerable.

This is like asking would you rather have a root canal or a colonoscope (ok, not quit that bad) ; neither is a pleasant experience. :rotfl2: Since you said you don't do it necessarily for the food, I would certainly have to choose H&V since the characters will be dressed up in some fun Halloween costumes. That and anything is better than the stuff they call food at Chef Mickey. But then again, H&V is not exactly fine... or for that matter average quality dining either. :goodvibes

I would definitely do H&V. Our family actually enjoys Chef Mickey's (we have lots of little ones) but any time you are able to have a more unique experience that isn't offered at just any time of the year, I say go for that.

I love Chef Mickys , but I am one who also likes to try a different experience. You never know what you might be missing

We do the same thing with Chef Mickey - dinner and a meet and greet without wasting park time in line. We are also going to be doing H&V in November when we visit, but still doing Chef Mickey, also. We are on the dining plan and my kids are in the prime "character meal" ages, so we just fill up our schedule with character meals. I don't expect fine dining with a 12, 8 and 6 year old, so these types of buffets work for us.

Have fun!

We narrowed it down to those 2 restaurants also. We ultimately went with Minnie... we did Chef Mickey last time, plus priority seating for Fantasmic is a nice perk. We'll be there next week, first day of the summer themed dining. Wonder what they will do to make it seasonal?

How was Minnie's Seasonal Dining at Hollywood & Vine? We have it booked and are trying to decide whether to keep it.

We're doing both, but if I had to pick one I'd go to H&V since it's newer and seasonal. Also, you get Daisy instead of Pluto.
