Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Have to share since I am soooo excited....yesterday my sister, niece and I did a local 5k as a fun taper event. Not only did we all set new PRs, but I absolutely smashed my old 5k PR by slicing more than a full minute off my time!!! :cool1:

That is awesome great for you!!!!!!!

FYI for the 5K:

The 15 minute per mile pace must be maintained the entire length of the event. Participants not keeping the 15 minute per mile pace can be picked up at any point during the race.

OK, no WISH shirt yet, I have no idea what I did with it...UGH, so anyway, I went out and got lime green dye, and tye-dyed a shirt for me to wear, but hopefully I will find my shirt between now and wednesday night. :confused3

I also got in a 5 mile walk today, but my back it killing me!!!! I hope I will be OK next week. I am thinking if I take my meds before the minnie I should be ok...hopefully I won't fall asleep...:lmao:

I cannot wait, I cannot believe we leave in four days...well almost three!! See everyone in a week!!!!:thumbsup2

Michelle -- I have an extra WISH shirt I can bring and give to you before the race if you are going to EoS meet. Just PM me and we can figure out if that will work for you.

Michelle - SO sorry about your dh's scare!

SAlt Packs - I figure they won't hurt. Might as well take one.

Water - I'll carry enough for about half to 2/3 what I need and depend on teh water stations for the rest.

OK, I am the world's biggest heat whimp. ANyone arounf last year's trainign thread knows this. Anne yelled "I can't believe you made it this far" to me at mile 12-13 because it was sooo hot. (Actually, it made me feel pretty good.) Anyway, I made it to mile 12 w/o problems. Then, the sun came out adn I had to add walking intervals. So, if we really hydrate this week, we should be fine for 9 miles. Don't take it lightly, but don't let it paralyze you like some pepole did. :rolleyes1

Those of you who have run in hats, please remeber them. They are supposed to make a world of difference. I have not trie dmine in extreme heat yet, hely I live in MI, but I think it will help. Also, so ething to wipe your face helps a lot.

I can't believe we're almost there! ::MinnieMo

Why is today going to slow....I have to work today and tomorrow and then that is me until May 8th......uuggghhh wanna go now!!!!!

Angie- How did you final go? Don't forget to let us know. Graduation will be here before you know it. :scared1:

Those sponges that they handed out around Mile 17 or 18 of the marathon worked wonders. Everyone might want to consider putting a small sponge in their fanny pack for the race.

Hey everyone- we'll be showing off our medals at work next Monday (or maybe in the parks if you're lucky!)

I'm starting to feel a little jinxed with the Minnie Run.

First, I live in South Georgia, which you may have seen on the news is on FIRE. The firefighters are fabulous, but they can't stop the nasty smoke from being in the air. The main road I'd take to Orlando is actually closed now. That freaks me out. Then I managed to stab myself in the leg with a piece of a mirror my daughter accidentally broke yesterday. Stab may be a little strong, but still it bled a little. Last but not least, both of the kids have been congested and just yuck from the smoke, but this morning DD (7) woke up with a fever. I haven't called her doctor yet, but I don't think fever is listed as a smoke side effect. I'm thinking she'll get well in time for our trip on Friday, but I'll be developing it around Thursday- can you say Kleenex in the belt?! Any pharmacists types out there who can tell me what to start taking in oh, the next 20 minutes, to stay well!?!

I'm thinking positive thoughts... thinking positive thoughts...

Jen in GA

hoosJen - AIrborne! I sdwear by it. Forgot to take it today, of course, but it keeps me from getting sick on airplanes and when visiting the ILs. ;)

Jen I hope that things get better for you. pixiedust: :grouphug: coming your way.

Heather Thanks for asking about the finals, finished my hardest one today, 2 more to go!!

You are so right about grad coming quick. I was thinking about it during my LR yesterday and starting getting very choked up. So I decided you guys will all know who I am at the finish line, cause I will be the girl in the AT Children's Project running singlet, BAWLING LIKE A BABY!! I have just been so emotional lately :sad2:

No running today, going to gym for Body Pump and then studying all night. Hope everyone's packing/training is going well.

Would you believe alot of that smoke has made its way down here? Amazing. Hopefully the road will be opened by the time you go. Don't feel jinxed! Pixie dust will make everything better....

Geez this thread has over 1k posts!

Latest weather.com update:

Sat
May 5 Scattered T-Storms
87°/68° 30%
30 %

Sun
May 6 Scattered Showers
86°/67° 30%
30 %

Looks like the rain percentages dropped from 50/60 to 30/30! And it's good to note that the humidity will be in the 50-58% range rather than what was it in Jan something like 80-100%?!? I personally wouldn't mind a drizzle to cool me off...

And for those who like to spaz out about route study like me:

5k route and elevation map:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=910605

15k route and elevation map:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=910644

For the 5k my route ended up slightly short, but that's probably just based on the way they'll have the cones set up to make us run slightly further. Elevation only changes from 91-95 feet, which means the largest possible hill we will find is 4 feet tall! Guessing that will be just the slight bumps in the various bridges we have to cross. Looks fun and spectator friendly! You can see the start, then walk over and stand near the finish and yell across to the 1.5 mile point or so as well!

For the 15k route it was pretty much to straight on, although I'll admit I totally did something random for the start in order to put the 1 mile mark about where it is on their course map. I figure they'll need to use the wide road for that many people, but not sure how they'll have us zigzag around the parking lot, or whether it will start near the park gates. Ignore the random skip down to 0 on the elevation chart that's just a bug with gmaps. Other than that looks like the elevation ranges between 75 and 105 feet, so largest hill will be 30 feet. You can see the climbs over the overpasses, and just the slight undulations the rest of the way. Can't wait to actually run the last 9 miles of the marathon course, since I was mostly walking and stretching every 5 feet in January... Also fun for those who have only done the Half, you finally get to suffer through this portion with the rest of us, including the dreaded out and back! Hope to see some other green shirts during that portion! ;)

Matt--what pace are you planning on running?? It might be nice to try to find you Sunday so DH doesn't feel like the only man in a sea of women!;) Thanks for all the weather and elevation info!

WOOOHOOO two more days and I will be getting ready to board the plan bound for MCO...OMG I can't wait!!!!!!!! I walked about a mile last night just to keep moving...I ran out of pain meds so last night was a nightmare with my back, but I see the DR this morning so I will make sure I get enough for the weekend...I am gonna need it with all the walking. Oh and BTW the epidural I am supposed to get was finally approved, although they won't let me pick the DR that does it and so I am really nervous about someone sticking a needle in my back...I was hoping to have the shot beofre leaving but that is ok.

See you guys in a couple days!!!!!!:cool1:  :woohoo:

To be honest I'm not quite sure on the pace... I'll be trying to PR as usual since I haven't run a 5k since RftC and have only done 1 previous 15k and it was the day before a half marathon back to back weekend so I didn't go all out...

However I'm still in full swing triathlon training and that's my last peak week, so on the day of the 5k I'll also be getting in a 3 hour (!) bike ride and a 40 min swim on the day of the 15k. Not sure how that will affect my legs. I also haven't been getting nearly as much running in since the end of February and haven't run hard since a 10k PR at the end of March.

But theoretically to PR 8mpm for the 5k and 8:40mpm for the 15k. I'll be in my WISH shirt and so will DW! She's going for 11-12mpm for the 5k and 12-13mpm for the 15k.

Matt--we'll be on the lookout for you! we're gonna try to shoot for an 8:30 or better pace. My previous 15K best is 1:23, which is just shy of a 9 min/mile--so want to at least run that

3 days and we leave for FL!!!!:cool1: :cool1: I was still on the fence about running the 5K as well--but after getting the email that it's at capacity now, guess the decision has been made for me!
