Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

24 hours and I'm on a plane!!! I can't wait. I have to drop the dogs at the kennel this evening, and I still have to pack tonight. At least last night I figured out my running clothes for the duration of the trip, so I have that aspect of my wardrobe sorted out! If you see a gal at the 5K in a pink camo running skirt, a black top, and a green headband that will be me!

OK, so here's a question for everyone. Thursday is supposed to be a 3 mile run. Since I'm running the 5K on Saturday, then doing the Minnie 15K on Sunday should I drop the Thursday run? Or just do a short run to aclimatize myself to FL? What do you guys think?

::MinnieMo Good luck everyone! ::MinnieMo

I've been reading through your thread over the past month and I love all the encouragement and support you offer each other. Although I'm not doing the Minnie this year, I'm determined to participate next year in the half.

I'm anxious to read about your experiences once you return.

Hi everyone, I joined this discussion way late but wanted to say a quick good luck to all of you who are leaving soon for Disney!

I will be at work here in South FL until Friday and am counting down the days until the weekend. This week is going slloooowww already...!

I also wanted to say how impressed I am with all of your training! I have hardly had time to do much running to prepare... I did the Disney 1/2 marathon this January, but since then have only recently started to pick it up again. "Training" might even be too strong a word for me at this time... haha.

Good Luck to everyone! Happy Tuesday... :sunny:

Gosh, I'll have to take pictures of Matt, Stephanie, Angie and the other speedy runners at the start line because I'll never spot you again! (I can't take the pictures at the finish because you'll look so rested and I'll look so... not!)

Thanks for the elevation stuff which I might have read correctly and the weather info. I'm just excited to get out of the smoke here!

For those of you with kids, a question-- we are driving down. My DD is in 1st grade. Because of missed days with the fire, they are doing state standardized tests on Wed & Thurs. Friday I think will just be a regular day. My options are: take her out at 11:20 so she is "present" but not get to Disney until about 5 or so; or just keep her out all day so that we can leave at around 6 a.m. If I can get there early, I can stop stressing about making it to the expo Friday so we have the full day Saturday at the parks. I've never taken her out of school. Thoughts? (of course if they end up out of school and the tests are on Friday, we'll wait).

Reminder:Please try to stick arourd to the very end so that we can get a group pic with Minnie post race.

Hello !!!! Why do I still have to take 2 tests before I can go to Disney??:confused3

Anyway:

Stephanie Wow I don't know if I can keep up with you but at least it will give me something to shoot for, if not I will be right behind you.:rolleyes1

Leana Personally I would probably still do run on Thursday, but I find that I do better if I run right up till race (easy runs) it keeps me loose. But I know rest is important too!!:confused3

Dream Believer Thanks for the encouragement and we will have to start a RFTT thread soon. :yay:

Jen I am probably the last one that should give you advice on this subject because this weekend is the 3rd time this year my kids will miss a day of school to go to Disney. :scared: We have very hard schedules (me with school and my husband is a fire fighter - gone a lot) so we go when we can. It has in NO WAY ever effected their grades or preformance.

Probably try to do an easy 3 miles tonight, I'm still tired from that "sprint" at the end of my LR on Sunday!!:rotfl:

We leave in 46 1/2 hrs(not counting) if lucky:)

I will be driving through snow to get to Reno tomorrow. It is supposed to snow in Reno Thurs morning when we leave. Hope for no delays:( We get rid of 3 days of snow for sun!

See you all in a few days:banana:

Nevermind about the run tonight. I woke up with my throat hurting this morning and as the day progresses, I feel worse:scared: I feel like CRAP!!

I got sick just before Disney 1/2 this year and I AM NOT taking that chance again. Think I will rest tonight (and study of course)

Happy packing/training!!

Wanna go now. 2 Hours and 30 mins left of work......uugghhhh

Angie sorry to hear you are sick, rest and good luck with your remaining tests.

Ultra....pixie dust for no delays. Have a safe trip.

I have to pack tonight and get laundry and housework done. DH and DS are having a golf weekend so I want to make sure everything is clean for them so they can just enjoy and DH won't feel he needs to do anything around the house.

Cam: Where are ya.....how are you feeling???

Well, just in case I don't get back online before I go. Pixie Dust to you all in your travels. Hope everyone has a safe journey and all the pains and illnesses are gone. See you all at the latest Sat afternoon....hope to run into you all around the world.

Kim

Robert--PD that you have a smooth trip--no delays. Can't believe you could have delays b/c of snow! It was almost 90 here yesterday!

Angie--Rest and get better. I second Airborne or Emergen-C.

Kim--Have a safe trip!

Where did April go? WOW!

I am so not ready to run this weekend. I am only doing the 5K, my first race, and I have just had a really hard time since the warm weather came. I started training outside in late Feb. I started with barely able to jog/walk a mile, and at 25 min at that, to 3 miles at 14 min pace. Once the temp went to above 65, I just melted. I have gotten back up to a 15-16 min mile, and back to walking atleast half of the 5K. So I just know after all this work, that the sweepers will be haunting me. :-(

Oh, well, I will have fun being at the World with hubby, and it's the trying that counts, right? Need a small pep talk here. Atleast I am giving myself and my family a healthier wife and mother. :)

Our plane leaves in 3 days!!!

Kimberly - The most important part is the healthy lifestyle! You need to remeber the adrenaline that the race will give you and being out there with other WISHers, though. You can do it! Picture yourself crossing that finish line and don't give up!

Kim -- Thanks for asking. Having a rough time in general just due to time of year. 4/14 was the 2 yr anniversary of when my Dad died and today is the 2 yr anniversary of when my Mom died and Thursday would have been her 65th birthday. Just feeling kind of down until I think of Minnie and my WISH friends. As far as my lungs, capacity is still not great, though I am not coughing anymore and my lungs don't make noise when I breathe. I can't believe I am winded walking the 3 blocks to my office, though. That stinks!!

Angie -- take care of yourself, sweetie! You are probably wiped out from school and all so you have to be very careful that you don't get sick(er)!

Anyway, to all our Minnie's who are leaving soon, travel carefully and safely. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday! :grouphug:

Angie & Cam hope your both feeling much improved by the weekend. Rest up take those vitamins!

Carrie corral all those ladies and gents for that Minnie photo! LOL

Can't wait to see the photos of our WISH Team adorned in medals from this weekend. Remember you have an entire team there and here cheering you all on.

GO WISH TEAM GO!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Everyone have a safe travels and a wonderful time!!! Smile for those cameras!!!!

CAM I hope you are feeling better!!

HELP - VENTING ABOUT TO BEGIN!!

I feel horrible, I need lots of prayers, I CAN'T get sick right now. Took airborne yesterday, more just now, plus Vitamin C and oh yeah OJ. Can't go to bed early cause I have a cummulative final on Thursday worth 30% of my grade that I HAVE NOT STARTED STUYDING FOR!!!! AAAAAHHH!!

To top it all off I have probably one of the worst fever blisters I have ever gotten and i get them really bad. It hurts and I LOOK LIKE A FREAK!!!

So just a little warning when you guys see me. I do not have a booger hanging from my nose. Gross yes, but you have no idea how many times that has been said to me (I get them on my entire upper lip!!) OK, just trying to lighten my horrible mood.

angie

Angie - get lots of rest! Well, as much as you can anyway. You still have a decent amount of time before the Minnie. No freaking out yet, ok? ;)

Cam -

Speaking of freaking out....I have nothing packed.
It just dawned on me that I have to be 100% ready by the time I go to bed tomorrow night!
Thursday I am working until 11:30am.
Then drive 45 mins. home.
Leave for airport at 1:00-1:15pm.
ACK! :scared1: :rotfl:

Must remember to print the SW boarding passes tomorrow afternoon too!
I have to go to the dentist with Zack & Chad at 1pm tomorrow.
Oh, and there is the Goo Goo Dolls presale at 4pm tomorrow. :dance3:
And hair appt. at 5:30.
And Weight Watchers at 6:30pm!

DIane - I'll do my best! :teeth:

Angie - Sending prayers now! Hang in there! You're almost done!!!!! :wizard: :wizard:

Angie - I am sure the stress is bringing the blister on. Mine and dh's are always worse when we are stressing. Dh gets them on his lip like you, and I actually get what my dermatologist calls facial cold sores. They look like spider bites. It is reallllly nasty. Anyway, Abreva works wonders with us, especially when we catch it early.

Hi guys!

Just wanted to say how envious I am of all of you heading down for Minnie this weekend!

Good luck to everyone :grouphug: and takes lots of pics!!:flower3:
