Minnie Marathon 2007 Info

I did this last year & had an absolute blast!

I really want to sign up again, but DH is being laid off next week. So, depending on the job search & finances... we will have to wait & see.

So sorry to hear about your DH's layoff, there just seems to be so many layoffs lately here in Canada as well.

Hope you will be able to make it.

Alright, this is my first post to this board...I am really working on getting back in shape and would love to do the Minnie Marathon next year. What have been your thoughts and experiences in past events? I would love to hear what everyone has to say!

Visit http://www.DisneyRunning.com for reports and photos from the Minnie Marathon and all other Disney races.

My DH and I will be there in 07 as well as the Goofy next week and Race for the Taste:)

For anyone who did the 5K last year, do the finishers of the 5K get a medal too, or do you have to do the 15K for a medal? Thanks!

Yes, the 5K finishers got a medal too last year. I haven't read yet to see if that's the case this year.

DD14 and I are thinking about trying for a 'MinnieGoofy'...the 5K on Sat, then the 15K on Sun. I bought my mom some New Balance for Christmas...hoping we can get her to do the mile!

We're are currently booked for BWV! I actually just plotted out my training schedule for this race :thumbsup2

Can anyone give me a description of the race course? I see the aerial map on the wwofs website, but I can't figure out where exactly it is! :confused3 If someone could clear up for me where the start/finish is, and where the race goes through, I would be very grateful!

Thanks!:goodvibes

It starts in the AK parking lot winds around and goes out on Osceola Parkway, turns a little before WWoS, backtracks a little then works into MGM, goes through MGM and out the front, goes towards the Boardwalk Inn, around in front of the Yacht and Beach Club, into the back entrance of Epcot around the UK, heads around the World Showcase and past Spaceship Earth where you will finish in the Epcot parking lot.

It is pretty much the last 9 miles of the marathon course.

I will be doing this one again this year! I really loved it last year and this year I want to train better and actually do more than "just finish" (which is what I am doing for Saturday's Half and Last Years Minnie and the Half 2 Years ago:lmao: ). It is time for me to step up this "running" thing (since in my case it is more like a "walking thing.

Can not wait to see all of you there!

You can visit my website http://www.DisneyRunning.com and I have maps of the course for the 2 races. There are also some photos and reports. My DW and I will be running both days and hope to add more stuff to the website. If you have some reports/photos after the race in May, please send them along.

Robert

At WDW tomorrow for the Goofy Part II

I really love your site! Thanks for sharing it with us!!!

I'm in for the 5k! I'm waiting to see if a friend wants to be a teammate, but if not---I'm doing it on my own!

Congrats on signing up. DD and I are going to wait a few months to officially sign up. Apparently last year it didn't fill up so I will wait a bit but definatley doing it.

Robert good luck to you and DW, look forward to checking your website over the weekend.

Good luck to all Dis'ers this weekend.:grouphug:

Thanks everyone for the answers about the race course, but I should have specified that I wanted the 5K race course. Sorry! I am definitely not ready to do a 15K yet, but maybe next year.

Anyhow, if anyone can give me an idea of where the 5K course starts and ends, it would really help me out- the only race maps I am finding are the aerial pictures, and I can't figure out "where in World" (pun intended) they are! :goodvibes

Thanks Disers!

Hey there,

Is anyone doing this race with their teen daughters, mine has finally agree to go for sure and she is now thinking she might be the only 14 year old there.

Anyone else bringing there DD's

I just signed up for the 15K :cheer2: and was thinking about renting DVC points (which is how I origianlly got introduced to DIS boards) anyway - to stay at BWV

My ?? is - Do you know if my sweet husband and children be able to walk to finish in Epcot parking lot from there - will the back entrance be open to Epcot, or is there another way??:confused3

Thanks,

Angie

PS - Decided to do Gasparilla 1/2 instead of Sarasota !!:yay:

My 14 yo will be doing the race along with me. She did it last year as well. We're going for an annual thing, like the "perfect 14" people that have done each marathon.

Angie...we're staying at BWV also! I don't know about the EPCOT question. For the half, they do open international gateway early, but I don't know for the Minnie. The Boardwalk area is a great place for them to see you during the race.

Great Mel,

Is there a WISH team like with the marathon or a meet of some sort. DD and I are arriving a few days early to enjoy to the parks so would love to meet up with some DIS'ers
