I noticed that the start time for the Minnie 15K race is at 6:30am, but I don't think I've seen what time we're required to be there. Does anyone know? Also, if I take a taxi there, I would have it drop me off at the Animal Kingdom parking lot, right? And what do you recommend as the easiest way to get a taxi so early in the morning? I know that there are usually taxis at the Disney resorts, but I doubt that there are any there at that time. And finally, is anything going to be mailed to us prior to the race, or do we just show up at the Wide World of Sports expo that weekend to pick up whatever is needed for the race? Sorry for all of the questions! I just want to make sure that I know what I'm doing and where to go that weekend. :) Thanks!!

I think you can be there any where between 4:30am and 6:30am...Well, I am sorry but I cannot answer any more of your questions...but I have a couple of my own so instead of starting a new thread I just figured I would post them here as well...I hope you don't mind. :)

My questions are...

Are there mile markers to tell you how much further till the next mile..like maybe 10th of a mile markers or something...how do you guys keep hydrated...I know they provide water at water stops, but are they close enough together to keep you hydrated??? What about bathrooms??? How far apart are the port-a-potty's??? This will be my first marathon, and I am really scared that I am going to be totally lost. What do you normally eat on a morning before a marathon???

Thanks for any help that anyone can give either of us!!!

Check the 15 K course map on the disney website. There are 5 beverage stations and are marked "W" on the map. Yes, there are many portable bathrooms at the start of the race, along the way, and at the end of the race. Have fun. :goodvibes

I found the answer to one of my questions; We have to be at the start of the race by 6am.

As for the water, according to the map, there appears to be stations between mile 1 and 2, between mile 3 and 4, between mile 5 and 6, and 2 different locations between mile 7 and 8. There should be markers at every mile. Hopefully lots of port-a-pottys too, and you can also probably use the restrooms in the parks as well (I know they were available for the half/full marathons). And with eating before the race, I usually have an energy bar and sometimes something like part of a bagel before I run.

I just thought of another question too. Will there be bus transportation running at the finish at Epcot back to the resorts?

Thanks!

I believe there are busses running from Epcot & resorts at the end of the race. Maybe someone can verify that for sure???

Teh water is ample to keep hydrated. They use standard course spacing. If you wish to have more water available, you can try a camel or a fanny pack that carries a water bottle.

Expo is where you pick up your race number and "goodies".

I'm not sure if it is like marathon weekend--but marathon they are quite explicit about not being able to pick your number up on race day--it had to be all picked up at expo. So make sure you hit the expo, just in case the same rule applies to Minnie.

For marathon weekend they have mile markers all along teh course. It would be fairly easy for them to "recycle" them for the race--but that is an unknown to me. But markers do exist. They are fun to take pictures in front of.

For Nutrition--REFERENCE THE FAQ--i have a whole section on Nutrition in there that was given to me during my TNT training from our Nutrition workshop. Please be advised to try out what you plan on doing during training. If you aren't eating before a run--start doing so now. If you aren't hydrating properly, start doing so now. Race day is too late to decide waht to eat--and it will vary by person.

My stable is a bagle (Thomas') with Earth Balance Spread (a butter like substance) and sometimes a banana.

I eat gu along the course--but for 9 miles, that probably isn't really necessary. And I eat any fruit provided--but not any other stuff really.

Port O Potty's--since it isn't a marathon--hard to say, they will most likely be along the course. Prior to the race--before queing up....Get in line, go potty and repeat 4X as it takes that much to void the bladder. You will be amazed that you will go when the opportunity strikes. ALWAYS ASSUME that you will need to AVOID the first set of port-o-potties on the course--they are time stealers b/c all of a sudden everyone who didn't do the "line-potty-repeat" thing--will now be waiting in line to go. They are sort of spaced like the water stops.

I would not count too much on restrooms at EPCOT--you are finishing up--get to the finish line and go there. (I think that is about the last mile). If you REALLY have to go--try Norway behind the bakery (by the viking ship).

As far as AK--you may or may not find a potty--keep a lookout for it. You can probably decipher from the course map where one is.
