Just wondering if anyone in MN has heard the outcome of Handicapped-parking at meters? Since we are going to DW for 3 weeks in Jan, we let our monthly parking go for Jan. and I wasn't sure what the out come they decided. I tried to research it all I found was they were deciding. I am not sure that is even an option since I walk with a cane and it might be a few blocks.

parking at meters is free with your handicapped sticker, state law. the exception is if there is a time limit like for rush hour. but I wouldn't park on the street for 3 weeks either since most cities will tow you after 72 hours on non movement regardless of the handicapped sticker.

Sorry that was misleading, we pay for monthly parking downtown at work but because we are gone for 3 weeks we didn't want to pay for monthly parking, there is 1 week that I will drive to work each day and park at the meter during work hours, not leave my car there while I amout of town! That would so be my luck, my car would be towed!! that made me giggle!!

I've been out of town for the past few days, so I haven't seen the news lately. I don't think there was much beyond the first stories though. For those who are out of the Twin Cities metro area, there were recent news stories that people with handicapped parking permits who worked in downtown Minneapolis were parking all day downtown. This tied up meters all day, so they put more time limits on parking at meters. I can't find a link to any of the stories, so this is what I remember about it.
You might want to find a number for the Minneapolis parking commisssion or authority (or somebody in charge) and ask what the current situation is. Good luck.
