Minne Marathon Team List

There are only two real on/off ramps in the race. The first one is after mile 4 and the second is after mile 5 heading towards MGM. The first one is the worst of the two, though.

The water stops are spaced about every 1 1/2 miles with the exception being the one after mile 4 1/2 which is 2 miles.

Sorry for bringing up the topic again, but anyone know how i could possibly replicate the on/off ramps- e.g. about what treadmill incline would give me a similar work out? I'll be asking for a hill by hill account of the route nearer the time :lmao:

I'm planning on doing the 15k, plus walking the 5k with my mom! Not sure where we'll be staying yet, but probably a non-dis hotel...

Guess who's coming to Minnie?!?!

:cool1: :cool1:

Got confirmation from work today... looks like I will be able to come up after all!!

Kevin :earsboy:

Oh

My

GOD!!!

I am so excited! Yay! :yay: Kevin's coming Kevin's coming!

You guys are so excited about Kevin coming...I'm new here-would one say Kevin is handsome or fun to be around. Oh I'm sorry, I'm married and bring my DH to the race. :rotfl2:

On another subject..I've driven the on/off ramps and I'm thinking they can't be too bad or am I wrong?

Glad to hear they will be calling out times at each mile...most of my training is on the treadmill and I will have a hard time knowing how fast (or slow) I'm going.

Three weeks of training down and what ever is left until race day.

Shhhhhhh....DOn't tel him this or he'll get a big yead. One would probably say both. ;) If asked, though, I'll never admit to saying that!:rotfl:

Joan, I agree with Carrie. He's both but don't let him know we think that. :ssst:

Umm, about those ramps......"can't be too bad" is a relative term. What incline are you doing on the TM? You might want to up it once in a while. I don't mean to scare you, but the ramps aren't really nothing. I mean they aren't that bad either, but just be prepared.

joan4mickey Carrie is absolutely correct in her assessment of Kevin. His nickname last year was "Zebra Butt/ZB!"!!!
smileyk8/Kate, and Joan is correct about the on/off ramps. They are not bad, it's just when you are from a flat area the first one seems so. I'm a back of the pack walker and see quite a few people moaning and groaning over that first on/off ramp. Chimera/Mel and wtpclc/Carrie are speedies and can give you a better perspective. When I did the inaugural Minnie as my first pace requirement event, I noted any incline. Here's my report if you want some reading..:rotfl: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=12641365#post12641365 The other thing that some people complained about was coming out of the AK parking area heading into mile 2. We go around a curve that is inclined on the right, If you are prepared for it, you know to move to the left..otherwise you get stuck running/walking on a slant! ;)

The upcoming Minnie will be my first race and I hadn't even thought about ramps! Your link was great to read, I feel as if I know the route just by reading your great post.
I'm really looking forward to meeting WISHers at the Minnie. Such a great, fun, supportive group!

Another question...Some one said that pictures are taken along the path...are they the photopass pixs like in the park? Can you look at them online later?

I love looking at the pictures that runner/walker have taken over the year ( I look at the disneyrunning site). I don't think I will carry a camera with me, I tried running with a fanny pack this past weekend and hated it. It would be nice to have some pictures to show the family.

Judy-Thanks, I looked at some of the pixs from last year.

It's a rainy day here and so here I am wasting away on the dis boards.

My DH said we just got an email that there is a P&P party May 2. pirate:

More questions...

I saw a really cool string bag, I guess given away in past years, do they do something like that every year? Because I would love that cool black string bag with the logo on it.

Also, do we have to wait to see what the shirt looks like when we pick it up? I'm assuming that the black shirt with the logo on it was part of the goodie pack.

Tell me what you can about the goodie bag...Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

A question for you Minnie veterans ... Just wondering if someone can give me an idea of what the heat and hummidity will be like. I only started running in January and I live in Canada - I haven't ever run in hot weather before (and if it doesn't stop snowing, I don't know if I'll ever be able to run outside :rotfl: ). I saw in the reports thread that a lot of people were wearing tank tops so I'm assuming that it was fairly warm.

I was also wondering if there were bathrooms in HS and Epcot that we could use instead of the porta potties. I remember reading some of the 1/2 marathon reports and people were saying that they used the bathrooms in MK.

TIA :)

bunnyfoo I feel your pain on the humidity/heat thing. I, too, only started running in January and I live in Michigan (where fortunately this latest snowstorm may pass us by.
I don't know what it will be like, but having been to WDW in August I can only imagine that it can't get any worse than that.
So looks like I should try running on a steep TM incline in my full cold weather gear with pack--maybe that will help simulate the feel of Florida in May!

Joan, As Judy pointed out, ASI is there to take pictures along the route. They usually are stationed at three places along the route. Depending on who's in charge, when there are characters, the CM's will take a picture with your camera. At the marathon weekend 5K, ASI was out mingling with the start crowd and taking group shots.

We got the black string/backpack as our goodie bag both years. We also got the black tech shirt; first year was short sleeved, last year's was sleeveless. Maybe it'll be tank this year! Either chimera/Mel or Tiger Lily 03/Lily can model the shirts. I described the contents of the first year's goodie bag in my report that I linked earlier. Last year's bag was pathetic. I think it just had coupons. The expo had grown much bigger, tho. We also had a Minnie Inaugural pin the first year and no pin the second.

bunnyfoo If you know where the bathrooms are in HS and WS, you can use them. There are also port a potties along the route for those desperate moments. The race starts at 6:15 a.m. and at a 15 minute pace, is over with by 9. The heat will not be too bad. The humidity is another thing all together. Maybe you could move the TM into the bathroom and run the shower while you get your sessions done???

Hi, Can someone please tell me exactly where the starting point is (that i will need to take a cab to) for the 5k?? I am confused as to where i need to be.. it's my first - so i am a lil lost!! TIA!

LOL! I barely have enough room in the bathroom as it is. Maybe I'll let the shower run one day and just run on the spot for a few minutes  I figure in the worst case scenario, I'll just walk if the humidity is too much.

Out of curiosity, are the tech shirts fitted or loose fitting? I selected a small size - I was assuming a loose fit. Can we exchange them at the expo if we picked the wrong size?
