Minne Marathon Team List

Morning everyone!

So glad to see I'm not the only one nervous and having nightmares. Had one that I missed the start and another where my legs decided they weighed too much to move. :scared1:

Stacie - yeah, I'm really concerned about these last few weeks, too. Longest distance I've done so far is 6 miles. Really worried about getting in the distance over the next few weeks.

Hey guys and gals!!! So...I'm getting really excited for our trip! We'll be there a week after, so this will be awesome! I'm making shirts (iron-ons) for our trip and started working on those last night! So, it's really starting to get real!

I am getting way nervous though. I missed my 4 miler yesterday. My next two long walk/runs are scheduled for this coming Sunday (7 miles) and then the following Sunday (8 miles) :scared1: I've NEVER done these distances before and they seem sooo far!

So although I'm excited about our trip, I'm really nervous and scared for these last few training weeks and long runs!

Anyone else feeling this????

Stacie

I think quite a few of us Newbies are having attacks of nervousness and worry. I think you will feel better once you have your 7 and 8 mile walks behind you. I think with all the excitement the morning of the race AND the support of the WISHers, you will do great. I know I keep reminding myself that I'm doing this to have fun, not to set any speed records. :cheer2:

Haven't had any nightmares about the race, but have about other major events I have been involved in.

Ran 9 miles this morning-well I walked a minute here and there. So unless something happens, I feel I can finish the race and do just fine. This is really just a way to get to Disney and keep in shape.

Hi Minnie marathoners!!! I haven't had any nightmares (yet) about this race. I was nervous though alot about the TOT 13k the weeks before the race since that was my longest distance ever. I think I am less nervous about the 15k because I know I was able to do the 13k. But I understand the nervous/nightmares about the "unknown" of these races because I have been there just 7 months ago.

Can't believe the Minnie is almost here!!!

Ok, call me crazy (it's ok, others do....;) ) I signed up for the 5K as well.
Just couldn't help myself. Figured I'd walk on Sat anyway and would likely put in around 3 miles so might as well join in the fun while doing it!

Anne - please add me and DH to list of folks doing both!

Yup, count me in for the jitters. I'm not having nightmares per say, but my sleep is definitely suffering, wierd dreams to say the least.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to make the meet on Saturday, I have dinner ressies in Italy. But like the others will be seeking out the WISHers Sunday morning!!

Ok, I just booked my room for May 1-7, 2009 so hopefully the Minnie will still be an event next year. I reserved the Caribbean Beach resort but may switch to Coronado Springs...I don't know yet. I heard the Coronado's rooms are being refurbished this year, so it will be nice to stay in a refurbed room. We'll see. Hope to see you guys there next year!:cool1:

he he, ive been looking at past minnie photos and get all goosebumpy imagining myself there. It's just difficult not having any idea about the set up really. Ideally i would like a personal mickey who would collect me (oh and bunnyfoo!) take us to the start area to find you guys, then show us to toilet with no queue and finally stand us in the correct pacing section. What do you think the chances are? :rotfl:

Liz, :thumbsup2 AND get a medal to show for it!!

Michelle, The official policy is NO headphones of any kind. It's a safety issue, for you and those around you. However, you'll still see people with them. There is a new policy being talked about amongst the running community's higher ups about pulling people off of the course of an event if you are wearing headphones/earbuds. Haven't heard the outcome of that, yet; but that is in the future. :music: Besides, there will be all of those WISHers around!!

tink06, I'm making ADR's in Italy for Saturday!! :)

?, (pulling a Carrie this morning :lmao: ) Someone posted on another thread about should they be receiving a card in the mail for Minnie like you do for the WDW weekend. Nope. Minnie is MUCH smaller than WDW weekend. No nice booklet, either. Just all of us WISHers!!! Show up at WWoS, (go to the Milk House..had NO clue the first Minnie as to where to go. There were NO signs anywhere directing to the Minnie registration, either!!), go to the line with the initial of your last name, and they'll pull a packet for you that has your chip in it, bib, as well as a copy of the final instructions that are now on the website, and a map. Go downstairs (in the Milk House) to the expo and pick up your shirt and goodie bag. Last year the safety pins were IN the goodie bag, but you might want to pick some up if you see them at the packet pick up or goodie bag place. IMPORTANT!!!!! If you ordered a special Minnie pin, unless they change things, you have to go somewhere else in the Milk House to pick it up. Hopefully, there will be signs. At ToT, so many people did not get their pins, because they thought they were in their packet. :guilty:

See you in less than 3 weeks!!! :goodvibes Anne

Kate - I think your chances of some of those coming true are very high! I can't help with teh ride, but the race is small adn it will be IMPOSSIBLE to miss teh WISHers. We may not find and empty queue, but we'll entertain you while we wait together. The pace line up is very informal. Chances are, we will mostly just be one big group at teh start.

Anne - Careful how you pull a me, some might thing you were thrown of a TM. :rotfl:

Hi everyone...I just wanted to say some words of encouragement to the folks doing their first race and/or their first Disney event...

Have fun!!

Sure it's natural to have nightmares, jitters, nervousness and the likes...but allow me to tell you from experience that everything will be just fine come race day :) What you are going through is just part of the entire experience you're about to have that will provide for a lifetime of memories.

Endurance running/walking is just as much of a mental game as it is anything else. If you are worried about the last couple of miles, just remember that those miles are through Disney Studios and Epcot during the 15k...believe me that you'll be caught up in the magic of Disney and that will help pull you through.

Disney puts on a great event...just don't lose sight on the experience as a whole, take it all in...from the pre-race jitters, to the expo to race morning and to crossing that finish line and receiving your medal...most of all, remember to HAVE FUN through the entire thing.

You guys are all going to do GREAT!!

Have a wonderful last few weeks of training :goodvibes:

Thanks Anne for posting that about the PINS! I was wondering about that. I'll have to make sure to ask at packet pickup. Don't want to miss out on my special pin!

Scott... Thanks for that! I am so looking forward to the experience! Especially with the family being there. I know it will be fun. If I can just get through these next few weeks of training!

Happy training everyone!
Stacie

I did my 6 mile run yesterday and despite having a terrible cough and cold and missing a week I finished it in 1:06. It was actually 6.2 and VERY hilly so I feel good about the next few weeks! That is the longest I have ever run, infact, every distance over a 5K has been a new distance for me so I am pretty psyched. I am not going to set the world on fire with speed but I am good with that! Thought about doing the 5K as well, but I don't want to take away from any more time in the parks with DH and the kiddos.

Thanks to the veterans who are offering support, encouragement and practical tips! Any great advice on the best way to get to WWoS with Disney transportation? I have read to take the bus from HS???:confused3 I could always take a cab...

Ok, adding to the silly question list.... is the Milk house the same place as they had the registration for the marathon? if not, where's the milk house??:confused3

The milk house is where the marathon expo and packet pickup were located :goodvibes:

I'm excited to be doing the 5K, but I'm wishing I could do the 15K, too! I'm already feeling bad about taking time away from the family (we're on a family reunion) with the 5K so I can't do them both. But I'll be walking the 5K with my aunt so I'd be so excited to actually run the 15K!

I grabbed a few lime green mickey heads at HD the other day, maybe I'll try to pin them on the back of my shirt for the 5K.

Oh, and about the headphones. I never saw any problems with them at Disney, but they're starting to get more strict at other events. I remember reading in Runner's World that one marathon went through every finish line picture and if you were wearing earphones you didn't get an official time.

Yes, it is the same place. Up the stairs, through the turn stiles and to the left. Big sign on it, "Milk House":

Hi Anne. Can you add Susan's (Larry's Girl's) DH to the 5K list with her and our parents. He has a disboard name, but I don't know what it is. He just decided to do it.

I just registered all of us for the 5K and it as 95% capacity! I just made it in! Whew!

Stacie

Sara - DOn't overdo it. At this point, you are as trained as you need to be, You're better off resting than working out too hard and facing a relapse. :wizard: Yes, You can take a bus from DHS to WWoS.
