Fortunately, (or maybe unfortunately if I thought about it long enough) --this is life as we know it right now -- all the time! In other words, if you think this trip sounded hectic, you should hear about our daily life! There's always something! For example, just today, I dropped ds4 at preschool (his teacher took a 3 week vac. in Feb and now is making the kids go to school over the public school spring break -- yech!) -- and took dd5 & 6 (Cali and Meg) to the Y (since they had to get up and get dressed anyway to drop off ds) -- where they went to a 3 hour "Kids Olympics" spring break 'camp.' I took JayJay (dd2) in her stroller for a walk all over the neighborhood where the Y is. I stopped in to the Childwatch to talk to a few friends working there and do my work evaluation (since I work there) -- and by now, was already running 5 minutes late to pick up ds4 from preschool. I get out to my car to see it is running, the music is blaring from inside -- "oh, the starter button got hit I guess." Well, I reach inside my pockets for my keys... they are missing! I leave the stroller on the sidewalk by the car and take JayJay back to the babysitting room. We scour that room... no keys! I do a quick search of the YMCA grounds, my stroller, the b-ball courts, the playground but not the roads where we walked yet. I call ds's school but they're outside and don't answer. I leave a frantic msg. saying I'm obviously going to be late. Without a note, only me, dh or my mom can pick him up from school. So I call dh and frantically ask him to hightail it from work (about 15-20 mins from the preschool) to pick up ds as we are already 5 mins. late. He was fussing and fuming about having to stay at school today as it was and I PROMISED him I'd be back soon! (which I always am!)... So dh goes with the plan to pick him up then take another 15 mins to come give me the key to my car so the rest of us aren't stranded at the Y! Meanwhile, I head out of the babysitting room and figure I'll start retracing my steps on our walk... I just so 'happen' to ask the front desk if they found any keys. Imagine my surprise (and good luck) that they had... and they were mine! I quick call dh back but I missed him. So I start to call his cell phone but remember he left it at home for me as mine is dead and we haven't unpacked our chargers yet from vacation. So I grab JayJay, race to the school to pick up ds, wait for dh to tell him I found the keys (Duh, he figured that out as soon as he saw my car in the parking lot) and race back to the Y to pick up the girls from their 'camp.' When I get there, the girl doing sign out from camp said, "You must have had a nice relaxing morning with only two kids at home!"
