Minivan or Shuttle-cost comparison

OK, so we have seven people-4 adults,1 4 y/o, 2 2y/o's.

According to my calculations, Mears shuttle roundtrip would be $137.00 plus tip(s)!!

I have a reservation for a minivan for $235.00.

Doesn't it seem worth the money (extra $90) for the convenience of a minivan to use for an entire week or is it just me?

Am I missing something, or am I on the right track,due to the # of people in my party? OR AM I CRAZY?

We have always thought the same way. Especially when you are talking about roughly thirteen dollars a day to have it. Sure it is an "extra" expense but what does it save to have that car to eat off-site, shop at the outlets, and move around at your own pace.I vote to rent the mini-van (which by the way seems like a great rate if it includes your taxes and fees)

Even more cost effective might be one of the "towncar" services, that meet you at the airport, load in your stuff and take you straight to your destination. Even after tip, I'd guess that it would run you less than Mears' $137 (or the same if you are generous). Check out the link at the top for this board's sponsor, FL Tours, or else Happy Limo with whom I have had good experience. I believe both services have vans, and if you have your own carseats for the young'uns you'll be all set, and not have to board one fo those Mears buses for the interminable time it wil take to drop off everyone else before your stop.

So, door-to-door for the same or less than Mears? I'd say, go for it.
As for the minvan option, it might be nice for getting to DTD or Hoop-di-doo, but as a rule I try not to drive when on vacation at WDW. AKL is the only stop for AKL buses, and the buses there are very efficient. Plus the rental is more expensive, so who needs it.
