Minimum stay for the half?

Out of curiosity, what would be the minimum stay you'd do for the half marathon?

Would this be feasible? Arrive Friday afternoon, go to expo and then have an early dinner somewhere... Saturday is half, Sunday a park day and then drive home Monday morning? Would you do a park Saturday after the half? (We'd be w/o our kids.) Or would we really need to be there by Thursday?

We have DVC and I'm trying to decide how many points I need to set aside for this. I was thinking we were gonna do the next ToT, but now I'm thinking I don't want to use up that many points on two trips w/o our girls. Unfortunately, both races are during school and they are very strict about pulling them out! :rolleyes1

I think your plan sounds great!

We are arriving Thursday night and flying back on Monday. Chad is doing the Goofy though. The year of the first Goofy, we hit the Expo Friday and Chad was not able to get any Goofy merchandise - it was already sold out by Friday. So, now we get to the Expo Thursday, just to be safe. If that is not a big concern, I would just arrive Friday as well.

We are not going to any parks this trip. :scared1: Our APs will expire just before marathon weekend. We are going to force ourselves not to be in the parks all day - but enjoy all the other things at WDW that we always skip in favor of going to the parks.

Last year we got there Friday around noon and went to the expo and then a park. Early dinner and back to the room.

On Saturday we took about an hour break in the room to lay down after the half and then ate lunch and hit the parks again. As long as you're well trained, you will be just fine!

Your plan sounds fine. The more you keep going on Saturday, teh better your body will be and eh less stiffness fro SUnday.

Your plan looks great except if you want merchandise selection. I had the same issue with the 06 Goofy when I went to the expo on Fri and Goofy merch was gone. We went to the expo on Thurs and had our pick of items and sizes of Goofy items. We are arriving on Wed in 08.

You can do parks on Sat. You may be a little slow but will be good to work the legs. That's why we walk through EPCOT back to our room at BWV after both the half and full.

Thanks!

Was it just the Goofy merchandise that was sold out by Friday? They still had the Donald stuff?

Yes, there was still Donald stuff at noon last year on Friday.

Glad you asked the question cause I was curious too... we're flying in Thursday night and leaving Sunday afternoon for the same reason that DD can't miss school, especially since exams start that Friday. I was really lucky that her principal has approved the trip as an excused absence on the grounds that it's "educational," so she can take her Friday exam early. Gotta love having a good relationship with the administration! I imagine we'll do the Expo after DD and DH do the 5K, then a park on Friday, another park Saturday after the half, then they'll do one Sunday while I'm scream teaming for the full.

Can't wait to see the look I get from DD when I tell her she needs to study on the plane...
