Hi! We are in the process of buying a resale contract with cash (fingers crossed!). However, I am already thinking about starting to add direct points on a little at a time to get direct member benefits. Will Disney finance 50 point contracts? We are not looking to spread the payment out over years, just maybe 6 months to a year.

I think they will want you to have the 150 points direct, before they will give the the blue card.
As an add on to a blue card membership I think the minimum was 50 when I wanted to add RR.
There are two really good secondary lender that will finance DVC.
Or you can call a DVC guide they would know the answer

You don't have to have a blue card to add on. Once the resale contract is finalized, the OP can finance a 50 point contract through Disney as long as the UY and the names on the deed match their resale contract.

Yes, I know I have to have 150 points direct to have the blue card. My question is, will they finance 50 points at a time until a person meets that 150 point requirement or do you have to buy 150 points all at one time?

Before your resale contract is closed and loaded into the system, I would recommend calling your DVC guide to let them know you are interested in adding on 50 points.
We bought a resale contract first, then added on direct.
Our guide watched for the contract in the system, then called us and let us complete the add on quickly after.

After your resale contract is finalized, yes DVC will sell you 50 points on finance.
Just a reminder that it will have to be the same use year though.

As long as it's a true add-on, you can add as few as 25 if paying "cash" (most resorts) or 50 if financed. CCV & RIV have a 50 point minimum for add-ons.

They will finance 50 points. YOu can finance for 5 years or 10 years. You get a better rate with a 20% down payment, but you can also use a 10% dawn payment. As to whether you can get to 150 over time, I suppose so. Ask your guide. But be aware they may raise the minimum.

Just to add, that you will not be locked into the 150 minimum, even if you start the process with 50 points. If, before you reach the 150, DVD raises the minimum for membership extras, then you will be required to meet that minimum.

Once you become eligible, they will grandfather you in if the minimum is raised.

If you can pay off your direct add on w/in 6 mo.s another option is to charge the purchase to a Chase Disney Visa credit card https://disneyrewards.com/vacation-perks/ which will give you 6 mo.s of no interest to pay it off + you’ll get Disney dollars/rewards to use when you visit.
