No flames please - We have an extended family trip to the Fort coming up over Thanksgiving weekend and for several days afterward. My kids were at the Fort for 5 nights just this past May and so they know their way around pretty well, while the other family hasn't ever stayed at the campground. We are considering having the grownups go to dinner at CR one night and let the kids stay behind at the Fort, go to dinner at TE and otherwise hang out at the cabins. The kids will be 14, 12, 12, 10 and 9 at the time of the trip. My DD12 has been babysitting in our neighborhood for families with 1-3 kids, so she is used to being in charge of kids without parents around. Also, all of the kids are pretty used to traveling, using hotel keys, etc.

So, all that is to say, if we go to dinner without them, will the kids be allowed on the busses without us to go to dinner at TE? Thanks so much!

Hmmmm....good question. I dont know that they have a rule against it...after all...they're guests!!! And the whole concept of Disney is geard with children in mind. I cant imagine them having a problem....unless they hijack the bus and take it for a joyride!!!

Yea, that wouldn't be a problem, they are definitely old enough.

My kids went by themselves around age 11-13 but they always had to stay together. No kid was allowed to go by themselves.

Thanks, everyone! That's what I was hoping to hear. They will definitely all be staying together so we should be in good shape. :)

Thats a good point that I forgot to mention. Our oldest son has taken Tae Kwon Do since he was around 11 or 12 so he got some training on being aware of surroundings and paying attention. Only a parent knows for sure what their child is mature enough to handle, each child is different and I dont like to assign arbitrary age limts to issues.

Sounds like they will have a great time! My 15, 12 and 10 year old go all over the fort alone including the buses and have not had any problems.
Have fun!

If they were my kids (mine are 15, 14 and 6) I would tell them what time to go to dinner by and what time you expect them to be back in the cabin by, and have them check in by cell phone when they're back. After a certain time of day, I wouldn't want my kids out there without us, even in Fort Wilderness.

Have a great dinner! They'll be fine. :goodvibes

Depends on who's in charge. My wife wouldn't let me ride the bus by myself til I was 42.:rotfl2:

Since your oldest one is 14 years old and you have two 12 years, they should be able to take the other two children any where on the buses.
Have a nice Dinner.
