Just wanted to let everyone know that we had two mini wedding cakes and the chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room at the GF on the 4th of July and they were wonderful. Cakes were adorable and strawberries were so good! Here's the best part. They were supposed to be delivered at 8:00 so we could watch the fireworks from our room and enjoy our dessert. It was ds's 5th birthday. I called during the day to confirm and they said yes it will be delivered at 8:00. Around quarter to 8 I told DH and the kids that a surprise was coming. 8:30 and still no surprise so I called back and they said they had a "small problem" with our order, but that it would be up soon and there would be no charge! It finally arrived around 8:50 - but it was worth the wait (especially since it was now free!). Kids and DH loved it.

Free food always tastes better. ;) I'm glad it all turned out well. Thanks for sharing. Maggie

Because we're still in the stone age taking pictures with disposable cameras. We keep saying we'll get a new camera but never get around to it!

I would like to know how you go about ordering these desserts, and if you can order the mini cakes and strawberries at resorts other than the GF. We will be at POR and the POLY and would love to have a suprise like that waiting in the room. Oh yeah, can you remember the prices?

Here's a picture of the mini cake we had at the GF:

It was $25 and you call at least 48 hours beforehand; you call the GF main number and ask for the bakery. Tell them where you'd like to have it; one of their restaurants or room service.

Some other deluxes may be able to get one but you must call your resort directly and ask them if they offer it through in room dining.

I ordered a chocolate Mickey statue and tuxedo strawberries at the Boardwalk and I did it through in-room dining. It was about $50 total for both but I could have gotten one or the other.

Here's Mickey:

Some of these special items are listed in the menu section of www.wdwig.com under in-room dining. Call your resort and see what special things they have to offer.

I'd like to know too. Our Anniversary is Sept 3--the day we are leaving but that would be nice for our last night

If you are not staying at a deluxe resort that has these items you can have dinner at one of the GF restaurants and they will deliver them there - even the afternoon tea or GFC lunch or dinner.

Does anyone know if they do anything like this @ AKL???? I would love to surprise my BF w/ this!

Just call them and ask what they have. In room dining at AKL can help you...

I know they can do zebra stripped chocolate covered strawberries, and an african mask that says animal kingdom lodge,I know they can also make sugar spun giraffes. Call and ask for room service and see what they say.

Only free on the dining plan and only at the Castle....

I'm sorry, do you mean that you can get that cake free on the dining plan if you eat inside the Castle? :flower:

I dont think that poster finished reading the whole first post if I am reading it correctly. The original poster said she got them Free BECAUSE room service messed up and was late. It is not free they are $25 and they are not available at the castle although there is a Cinderella slipper made of white chocolate available on the dessert menue and it is included in the dining plan.

Yes, I knew the OP got it free. I was just letting people know you can actually get the dessert free if you are on the dining plan and eat at the Castle for dinner. Most don't get it free at the GF for room service, unless there's a problem.

That's all.
