Hey Disser's
Who would you recomend for a Mini van rental. We will be traviling with small children and I am thinking that a car rental will be a smart idea. We are on site and will take advantage of the monorail but last year the busses were a nightmare!!!! Do the have car seats you can get in them too? We are looking for a quick pick up and drop off. Our kids are not the most patient.
Thanks guys!!:thumbsup2

Well, we haven't used them yet, but we got a minivan through Dollar, which is right in the airport. They had the best deal I could find (vans are SUPER expensive compared to cars!) so that's why I went with them.

I would not suggest renting from an offsite company because you have to take a shuttle from the airport and with little ones, yuck....

Sorry, can't help with the carseat question, my babies are 18 & 15!

We just rented a mini-van from Dollar (January) for $308 for 4 days. Pricey, but we're staying offsite and going to Universal as well. Even if we were onsite I'd still rent a van for the reasons you state. It makes it easier to park hop, get to a grocery store if necessary, to Downtown Disney and Universal.

I would assume you have to rent the car seats.

To make the pickup fast, if you go with Dollar, you can sign up for their Dollar Express which allows you to get into a special line at the counter and you will be the next one called, ahead of the folks in the regular line. To register they will ask you for credit card and driver's license info and all you have to do is show the license at pick up. Many other car rental companies do the same thing. Drop off is usually complete in 5 minutes or so.

Here's my vote for dollar too. I was shocked at how much lower the cost was for a minivan with them compared to other rental car companies. You can also try hotwire.com or priceline.com. They sometimes have great rates. I would say keep checking the rental car sites. sometimes they have specials. Sometimes they offer discount codes, especially for a weeks rental. Sign up for alamo.com email deals and national. If you sign up for the Emerald club with national, they will email you discount codes - sometime weekly and you automatically get a discount as an emerald club member.

They upgraded me to executive elite, so I get a free rental day (for any car type) after every 5 rentals.

Yup. My price from Dollar was at least HALF what the other companies quoted me. I'm still scared my DH will go to pick it up and they say "Oh, sorry, that's not the real price". I told him not to waver and make sure they give him the quoted price, but I will be on ME with the rest of our party so it's on him, really. And Dollars honesty.
