Suddenly DH is talking about using our APs for a long weekend in December like we did last year. I told him he had to pay me for last year's trip first (still on Mastercard) but in the meantime, what kind of AP rates are out there? I can't find much on mousesavers for some reason. Last year we did the Poly, but we did it again this summer and I don't think we need to go there. I am thinking either POR or GF, standard view--there are 3 kids so I'd need the trundle at POR. This would be Dec. 5-8.
Are there good rates out there? I know there are only 3 weeks between the holidays this year, so is there availability?
And another option is Swan/Dolphin with teacher rate if it is available.

UPDATE--Just talked to reservations--the only rooms available are garden suite at BWI or rooms at ASSports or ASMusic--we'd need two of those--and NO DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE!!! After we got our AP rate for Poly concierge last Dec., this would just not work. However, I can get teacher rate at the Swan for $129 with a rollaway bed.
Our backup dates, Dec. 12-15, don't work because the kids would miss their Christmas concert. Only other option is Dec. 19-22, which would mean 1 day unpaid leave for me (I can't take a personal day the day before Christmas break) and cutting it a little close to Christmas. So it looks like if we do it, it will be the Swan!

I always enjoy the Swan and the teacher rate is great. You might try Dreams here on this site. You can type in your dates for the Swan yourself or E-mail them and they will check rates for the other resorts. The Christmas season is so pretty. Enjoy!

When I go to Disney.com for those dates I get availability only at the ASsp or ASmu for 97.44 incl. tax per night.

When you try to select GF or POR they show you availability at these 2 resorts - just hit continue and they will take you forward to request and then to pricing.

This seems weird because I've always thought that the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas was very slow???

Now I am freaking out! I am there Dec 4-11. I picked this time to take the in-laws for their very first time ever because it's supposed to be slower.

Are all the rooms really booked up? Or do you think that some are blocked for some reason or another?

I am going to be a little upset if it's going to be crazy like Xmas week in the first part of December. Yuck.

Basically what is happening is that there aren't many rooms left with a discount. Doesn't mean that the resorts are sold out. There is probably availability without discounts.

I think (crossing fingers) that alot of the rooms that are left now are blocks for the airlines. I looked on American Airlines vacations page and stuck in seven nights the first week of Dec and there was availibilty at POR (standard room), BC (standard), and GF (garden suite). Those were the only three resorts I tried, so I'm sure there are rooms at the others as well. This leads me to believe that there are still rooms, they are just blocked from regular inventory for the airlines vacation packages. Here's to hoping!

You gotta remember CBR closing took 2100+ rooms out of the pot. Plus there were VERY VERY good discounts offered earlier in the year for this time period.

I would stay away from All Stars since I believe Pop Warner will be there during that time. Maybe that is why they have openings, no one wants to be there with them:p !
We went last year during this time period and it was wonderful! Stayed at WL with a discount.
Always remember, if at first you don't succeed, try try again. My motto with CRO:D !

Hey, we'll be in Disney Dec 5-8 too! This is our third year going for the Christmas decorations and it is a GREAT time to be there! We've always been able to walk on to most of the rides - and we love MVMCP! We're doing MVMCP on Dec 5, and the Candlelight Processional on Dec 6. Can't wait!!!

The last two years we stayed at the All Star Movies and they were great! We never had a problem with noise or crowds of guests. In fact, in the building near ours, there were a group of kids, but we never heard them or really even saw them out and about. One morning, as we were leaving for the park, we saw an adult knocking on the doors and passing out orange juice for the kids (kids were about 13-15 yrs old)! We really enjoyed our stay there!

Hope to see you there!!!

(Sorry yall - I must have clicked on the wrong thing! This was supposed to be a response to someone's post!)

Just to clarify---I called back later to check again on ANY rooms, not just discounts, and she couldn't find anything but value resorts even at full price for that time period 12/5-8. I asked what was going on and she said it was maybe because it was a weekend. Guess we got spoiled last year!

My friend just booked BWI Dec. 10-17 for $169 standard about three weeks ago. I think she got in on those holiday specials, it was something she found on mousesavers.com. Anyway she had no trouble getting a room for that week.
