In all our trips we have never done the free mini golf that's included in our package. This trip we are trying to make sure we plan it. Can you use the free pass at anytime during our stay?
If you are using it as part of a hopper plus, then I don't believe there is a time on it.
We did the one by blizzard beach and it was shaded pretty well.
We might try the other one this yr but I have to find out the best way to get there and back to POR for magical express
I believe it is before 4 pm. I would suggest WinterSummerland over Fantasia Gardens. The theme of WinterSummerland is a little more fun and there is more shade there too if it is a really hot day. Fantasia Gardens is nice too, and you can always take a walk over to Ample Hills at the Boardwalk to celebrate your round afterward though. (Hmm, I think I just talked myself into Fantasia Gardens... )

A way to get to Fantasia Gardens would be to take the bus to the Swan and take the short walk over. Then you could walk or take the boat to Hollywood Studios to get back to POR.
We have taken a taxi to and from Fantasia Gardens. The staff called the taxi for us when we were done. Or you could walk back to the Swan for a taxi. Or schedule an Uber.
Its really easy to get to Fantasia Gardens from the Swan as suggested above. Its a quick very pleasant walk to DHS, or you can take the boat directly from the Swolphin. I think the FG course is truly something unique. WinterSummerland was a one and done for me.
We were at the Fantasia Gardens in the afternoon after visiting a park, before dinner at Flying Fish. Probably morning is a better time if you have a non-park day planned!
Us too! We rarely have an "off" day but this year we will and I thought this would be the perfect thing to do. We are going to do the new character breakfast on the Boardwalk and then go mini golfing!
Fantasia Gardens - typical mini golf course with Fantasia characters.
Fantasia Fairways - mini golf that just shrinks a typical golf course with bunkers, rolling greens, "sand" traps and "water" hazards.
The gardens are more family friendly so it tends to have a longer wait. But the fairways are fun too, but maybe a little too challenging for younger kids.
We always schedule a day or two "off days" during our trip and use those to go the water park or disney springs and putt putt. We always get the water park and more option. The last time we went was to Fantasia Gardens and went late in the evening and it was quiet.
