Hi Fellow Disers,

Just a quick review from a first time Blizzard Beach goer. We were there Friday, March 30. Rope drop, right to some lockers and chairs by Ski Patrol area, very smooth. Loved all the attractions, family favorite was Teamboat Springs. Park was NOT crowded and waits were under 15 minutes all day until 1:00 pm. We loved the theme, very clean, cast members were fantastic, really really kind and friendly, helpful, loved them all! Food was good including the bucket of ice cream and mini-donuts (not a low-cal day!) I felt safe letting my young teen and tween boys do a few rounds in the lazy river by themselves. In general, a great first water park visit.

Snake sightings: I am very afraid of snakes, phobic really, but I have decided that it comes with the territory of my favorite place - WDW!!! So, deal with it right~ So on the path from Ski Patrol back toward the front of the park, right next to the chair lift area, we are walking and about 20 ft. in front of us - big mama (about 3-4 ft long and about 2-3 inches in diameter) brown and yellowish snake comes crawling across. Here is the cast member story that really deserves attention. A custodial services cast member, in all white carrying the garbage picking up tool, calmly walks over to the snake, picks it up, puts it in the bushes, and stands there and watches it and encourages us to all pass by. In the meantime, a manager that was behind me notices the situation and is on walkie talkie mode with snake patrol immediately. I felt safe, they handled it so well, my guess from research is a large corn snake.

When telling this story moments later in line for donuts (so yummy), another family said that they were in the lazy river just an hour earlier and a huge black snake swam up next to them - I must admit this would have sent me into cardiac arrest, but again, they said the cast members handled it quickly.

It's Florida, snakes are there, and so is WDW. I know of terrible things that have happened there to families with snake issues, so this in no way takes away from the seriousness of these creatures, however, I was impressed with how it was handled and proud of myself for not freaking out in front of my kids and strangers!!! We will be going back to visit Blizzard Beach and the snake friends that live there again!:)

Note to self: Do not read any posts with the word "snake". I am petrified of snakes too. Glad you handled it well, not sure I would have been so "calm".

We are going to Universal in June and had considered spending one day at Typhoon Lagoon. Never mind now. :scared1:

If a snake decided to share the lazy river with me, the CMs would have to fish out one cardiac arrested Emom. :lmao: Either that, or a modern day miracle would occur and I would walk (run) on water to get the hell outta there! :scared:

A couple of years ago I was waiting for the ski lift with my family (wife, siblings and their spouses and two of my nieces). All of the sudden I felt something on my leg. I looked down to see a 3.5 ft black snake working its way up and around my leg.

I don't like snakes but I am not afraid of them or of handling them so the first thing I did of course was to calmly tap my wife on the shoulder and said "look at my new friend. OOPS, wrong thing to do! My wife started screaming which caused EVERYONE in the line to start screaming, including the CM's helping people on the ride.

I reach down and unwrapped the snake from my leg and ask the CM (who didn't even know what he was screaming about) where he would like me to take the snake. He asked me to follow him... he stayed about 5 ft away from me the whole time. I can't remember where we went, somewhere back by Sharks Reef; but the whole time we were walking, people were screaming when they saw what I was carrying.

Fun memories!!!

I need to un-subscribe from this thread.

:thumbsup2Note to self, don't add the WPF&M to our tickets! :scared1::scared1:

We were at a resort hotel in Ohio and had a snake join us in the pool. It can happen anywhere.

I never even thought of seeing a snake while in Disney, but now I will \

I love BB, but I hate snakes. If I ever saw a snake in the Lazy River with me I would die! I can't even imagine a snake climbing up my leg.

So is the SNAKE the "More" part of Water Park Fun & MORE!! :lmao:

Not funny really. I am like you. First just seeing the snake on the walkway, CM containment or not I would have been hyperventilating and doing all kinds of "snake dance" and seeing one swim up beside me in the lazy river... I would have defied gravity and not only walked on water but been somewhere above it as I flew out of the water.... snake wrapped around my leg.... DH gets to cash in the life insurance policy .

I love all of your responses! I was freaking out inside, but trying to not act like a complete nut job in front of my son and strangers won out over having a meltdown. I did do kind of a funny full body jump back movement with some odd jerks and twists - I'm sure that looked weird! I think it helped that the cast member was right there 'handling' the situation! As all of you also noted, it would have been a different story if I was the one in the lazy river with the snake next to me - full on panic would have occurred!

I have read a few other snake threads on the boards, and wish I hadn't. But I just had to share this story with my disers!

I've gotten fairly used to snakes. Growing up, I lived on a 40 acre farm with plenty of woods that we would play in and we'd see snakes quite often.

Then moving to Georgia, I see them on our property. We had one living under our air conditioning unit for awhile and I saw one under the bushes in the front yard last week. I encouraged that one to move on because I was trying to trim the bushes at the time.

But having one swimming next to me? That would definitely freak me out a bit.

I enjoyed your review. I've never gone to one of Disney's waterparks but my son has and said he liked Blizzard Beach much better than Typhoon Lagoon.

Thanks Connie. I see you are going back in 3 weeks, have fun! I noticed you have done some solo trips, I have hopes of doing that someday. I know it sounds selfish, but I would love to do whatever I wanted for a few days in WDW, take my time and take in all the details that my busy family isn't interested in. I have a friend who is willing to enjoy this pace with me, so she and I might try a mom's only trip when the budget allows. Have a great day!

heheheh...this gave my a good chuckle! Praying we don't encounter any slithering friends on our next trip!

Also terrified of snakes. We did encounter one trying to get into one of the stores on Discovery Island at AK. The CM just tried to keep it from entering the store. DD is still on the "lookout" since she is still afraid of running into one every time we are at AK. :scared1:
