Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

Bella must be from Boston! :rotfl: I am pretty sure I must say "watah." I really never notice how I speak till someone points it out to me. When I was on the phone with Katie once, she said that she loved how I say "garden." I actually watched something on the Ellen show a few weeks ago -- there was a huge fire in an apartment building and a Boston firefighter caught a little boy from a third floor window. When he was talking, I kept on catching how he spoke and thinking, "gosh, I sound like that." He said "ahms," "fiah," etc., which is totally what I say! It's funny because people from the Boston area, like me, and people from the western part of the state sound distinctly different.
:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: It's soooo true! Marc's accent isn't terribly bad but since April he has a new job in Bedford so he works with a lot of people that have those really thick accents and he's picking up certain words. Especially the word "dollahs", drives me crazy. I'm from Maine so I have an accent for sure but my relatives that live close to Canada, my goodness gracious....

I was looking at your baby ticker and I think the last one is a watermelon! :scared1::scared1:
Oh yes, that would be a watermelon! This week with the cantaloupe is the first fruit that really scares me, last week was a mango. I can give birth to a mango...a cantaloupe...scary.

That little playground area is very cute. I usually don't get close enough to Splash to see it but I did when I rode in Sept. '10 with Marc.

I seriously can't wait to for Fantasyland to open up. I want to see pictures and get my touring strategy figured out! :rotfl2:

I didn't realize there was a playground near Splash. I guess when you have a 22 year old & an 18 year old that would by why.

Happy Friday!
I am enjoying catching up this morning on a much needed and much appreciated day off.

I love the Jungle Cruise but we haven't ridden in a couple of trips. I loved the last time we rode Ben got most of the jokes. We need to ride again because I bet Ellie would get them this time.

I'm glad your observations all done with for the time and the others can be combined. That article was crazy, and sad. I know they are "testing" a similar system in a few districts in VA. Supposedly 40% of your summative evaluation is based on student performance. They were not clear about exactly what performance though, especially for those of us in non State testing grades. Perhaps they will learn from TN. I got observed yesterday by my new principal during math. It was ok and she wrote nice things. Then I got an email from my AP saying she was coming during reading sometime soon. I hope after that, it's done until after Christmas.

I've been meaning to ask if the girls liked those "horribly, scary" things we aren't supposed to talk about I sent them? I hope they didn't upset you too much! A friend gave me a bunch of them so I passed them on to people I thought would enjoy them.

Have a great weekend!:goodvibes

I always wuhn-dud why naw-thunahs don't give tribute to the r's in some words. They say aaah instead of r. In the south, some people make up for it by adding r's where they don't belong, as in 'warsh' the dishes. Not us. We do not warsh, but we know people who do. Drives me nuts to hear them say that. I want to ask them to spell wash and point out the r in it.

Don't stress about your little watermelon. Although you will recall every detail of the day you deliver and will be able to recite it in conversation for the rest of your life, the painful part is so worth what you get in going through it. You tend to forget the hard part enough that you might actually want to have more watermelons! :thumbsup2

Touring strategies will certainly change when the new stuff opens up. New planning for Disney crazies - it's what we live for. ;)

Yep, right by the bathrooms back there. You can often find characters back there, too.

I am glad it is Saturday. I can pretty much do whatever I want today. None of it will be exciting, but it will be whatever I want it to be.:woohoo: I will start by mailing out some care packages for our college kids at church. After that, there will possibly be a grocery store run. There could be some pretty exciting vacuuming going on shortly after that, and I may spend some quality time with some dust rags this evening.

Jealous yet? ;)

Yes, the girls did like the snowglobes, and they really liked the blanket. You were so kind to think of them. Jill mentioned sending you a thank you e-mail, but I guess she got busy and forgot. I am sorry to report that one of the figures, and I want to say it was Flora, suffered a bit of an injury during shipping. Her doctors seem to think a little super glue will heal her right up, though. :)

I liked evaluations better when they just came in and took notes and 'graded' us from there. Basically it was just a feedback session. With this rubric, I feel like I am scampering all over the place trying to hit all the points rather than just getting in the flow of the lesson. It turned out okay, though.

Morning...wow you got up really early. :goodvibes

Enjoy your day...sounds like fun...maybe not the cleaning part. :rotfl:

I'm working a half day today and then we are heading to Syracuse for the night.
One last shopping trip. :santa:
Apparently this is the first big shopping weekend for cross border shopping...I had no idea.
That's probably why it was hard to get a hotel reservation.

I'm excited about visiting the Disney Store and hopefully having dinner at Red Robin.
Want some pics of the Disney Store?
I am on a mission to get some cute Christmas plates that I saw online. ;)

Anyone hear anything more about NYE at POLY?

We should get a list of who will be there going....I'm curious what the total is. :woohoo:

So you guys say water like (w)order?
People say it differently depending on their accent, for sure.
In Bella's part of the country, they must say 'watah'. ;)

:rotfl2::rotfl: Ok it's not quite w(order). But it's the "aw" sound from the o in order...let me see if I have to write water phonetically as I say it...

woduh...or wawduh

Order does kinda rhyme with how I say water...

Have you seen the Geico commercial with the gecko walking on the Brooklyn bridge? That's how we talk :lmao:

You won't be able to get away with going to the Disney Store and not giving us pictures, so don't even think about it!!!

I have not read that Poly thread any more, so I don't know.

I haven't done a count for that night. I think we have a decent-sized group. Should be much fun! :dance3:

Let's start a count for NYE.

MeMom/Jill - 7, possibly 8

Everyone else, add your name and number, if you will, and we'll see what kind of crowd we're going to have.

Good morning! Your day sounds similar to mine. I plan on resting, then running on the treadmill and cleaning all day. I am looking forward to a day not filled with traveling or going out of my house.
Sign me up for the Jungle cruise meet if it is after we get to WDW. 48 days for us! You have even less time.:cool1:

I knew I would smile when I came over here -- it's been a crazy week and I am battling another cold -- but a ride on the Jungle Cruise certainly made me feel better! :goodvibes

Marc and I will be there for the NYE meet! So that will be 2 of us...

We were going to go to head south to OKC to the outlet mall today (Disney Outlet) but I happen to have 2 black eyes after having my eyeliner redone at the tattoo lady...:scared1:
I don't think I'll be going out in public today or tomorrow.
Monday is my evaluation. I hope my eyes look better!

All caught up...for now.

Enjoyed the ride on the Jungle Cruise and the Tea cups...the Tea cups are one of Hannah's favorites. She loves to spin us silly!

I have not seen the commercial, but I have heard that NY accent before in movies. You would think I was such a hillbilly if you heard me talk. :goodvibes

Let's start a count for NYE.

MeMom/Jill - 7, possibly 8

Momof2TNboys - 4

Wigd & Shocker - 2

I have 3 out of 4 of my evaluations done for the year. :dance3: I am SO happy! :woohoo:

You could put on a ski cap, pull it down over the brows, and go shopping. ;)

We will be there 6 weeks from tomorrow!
I hope we can work out that Jungle Cruise trip when everyone gets there. :thumbsup2

Always happy to know that we can hand out smiles here.

What kind of good stuff are you baking today?

Hannah and Brooklynn would have a great time on the Teacups together! Maybe that's where we will have our meet if our trip paths ever cross. :)

Cara and family-4 for NYE
Marc and I will be there for the NYE

It will be me and DS- Chris( maybe he will hang out maybe not:confused3)

We are on our way to OKC right now. No ski mask. :cool1:Sunglasses will have to hide the swelling and bruises. Baylor has his big 13th birthday on Monday so we will shop for him too!

And you have to go through this bruising ordeal how often?

Big day for Baylor Monday! :dance3:
Don't spoil him too much. He's about to become a 'bratty' teenager, you know. ;) I'm guessing he wants new basketball stuff - shorts, shirts, breakaways, shoes....

I have not seen the commercial, but I have heard that NY accent before in movies. You would think I was such a hillbilly if you heard me talk. :goodvibes

I should have realized that you don't live under a rock so you can figure out what I sound like lol I love Southern accents so I wouldn't think you were a hillbilly, I'd love it! :thumbsup2

Ok, one day I make it my goal to be included in this NYE count :sad2: for me but :yay: for you all!

Oooh, the playground near splash! What a fun area! When we went in May, my mom decided to skip splash, so she watched Everett at that playground. The only thing was she was afraid that he'd get knocked over by the bigger kids dashing around so she followed him all around.

When I got off the ride, I found her squishing herself through that very same tunnel to keep up with Everett. It was really funny! I appreciated her devotion, but really she didn't need to go THAT far! :cutie:

I know, famous last words but I'm done with this "permanent" eye business. It hurt like the dickens and still does...

Baylor already has been bit by the brat bug. Your list was correct, just add a video game and you would have been spot on!

Are you are a pahk the cah in the yahd girl? My friends mother despite being in the south for 40 years still had a New England accent until the day she passed.
While she was in the hospital after a stroke an Indian doctor came to evaluate her speech and declared her in need of therapy . Luckily her daughter ( my friend ) intervened saying she talked like that all her life, no use trying to chagne it now. :lmao: Between the accent of the Doctor and the Southern/New England there was something lost in translation. :lmao:

That is so funny about the doctor! :rotfl: Oh, yes, I speak like that...my best friend went to college in Virginia, and when I went to visit her for a few days her freshman year, everyone was amazed by my accent (my BFF tried and still tries very hard NOT to have a super strong accent; then after studying abroad in a few places she did pick up other speech habits, too, so she doesn't sound as "Bostonian" as I do.) Instead of "drawer" it comes out "draw" and when I say "sure" it generally comes out "sho-ah"...I still remember when I was in VA that people started cracking up when I said that!

MeMom, I so wish we could be there for the NYE DIS meet...I know my dad would be terribly shy and hate drawing attention to himself but I am sure I would be able to convince him to break out the glasses. ;) Actually, when I went to Salem last weekend with my parents and Kailyn, my dad decided to bring the glasses. When we were walking back to the car, Kailyn and I were walking ahead, my mom had stopped to take a picture, and my dad had stopped to take a picture next to a sign, wearing the glasses...so all of a sudden Kailyn and I heard, "Kailyn? Meg! Where'd you go?! Come back and take a picture of me!" :lmao:

I also got some exciting news from my mom...she texted Kailyn to tell me this while we were out. The Osborne Lights will be at DHS till January 7...WE GET TO SEE THE LIGHTS! That is one thing I have always wanted to see at Disney and I am SO excited that we get to see them! I was absolutely ecstatic and had to show Kailyn a video of them on my phone as soon as we got back to the car. I will be in heaven if we get to see the castle lights, too!
