Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

Welcome back!! I am so glad you had a great time! The pictures you sent made my day. So sorry about the drama though. I grew up in a family that loved drama. Luckily, my husband and his family do not and I appreciate that so much!! I am strict with my kids too. Not that they are angels, but they will be respectful. It must be working, Cooper is getting the citizenship award at school today because he has been so well behaved!!
Can't wait to hear about your trip!!

Welcome home, MeMom & Brooklynn!!! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to hear all about your trip! I am so happy you had such a wonderful time!

You are right about the colder weather coming in -- my parents called the other day & said it has been chilly the past few evenings once the sun sets.

They stayed at Pop in the 70's -- I can't wait to see if you are in any of their pics or if they're in yours!!!

I am so glad you guys had good trip..... and you were SOOOOO lucky. I was in Ft. Lauderdale since 10/16 (for work thank god) and I was stuck in the worst weather... a few tornados hit the area and my taxi did a 180 heading toward my condo... I was lucky he got out of it. I can honestly say that I am very happy to be home.

Looking forward to hearing details about the trip.

I had a shock this morning quite early! I was driving to school, drinking my coffee, and listening to a Disney podcast, when all of a sudden I heard, "It's Memom, Caren, sitting on the beach at the Poly...I thought you'd like to hear a little Electrical...we are sitting on the swing to right of the pool."

I grinned from ear to ear and thought...ah my friend was enjoying herself and just like usual wanted to bring happiness to others by sharing the magic...:goodvibes

Welcome home; thanks for the smile this morning and the other smiles on other days.

(And it was you, right?) :lmao:

So glad that you and Brooklyn had a memorable trip. It's one of those memories that you and she can share forever. You might have to remind her, but that's OK. My mom watched our kids for a week when they were 2 and 4 and she made a book with a story and pictures of their adventures when they were there. I'm sorry about your drama.. it sounds like the drama I had but my daughters friend is 12. It's just too bad for Kay that she was the one it had to happen to. It's an expensive learning experience.

Welcome Home!! So glad you and Brooklynn had a fun time! I am sorry Kay and Breanna had a rough time. Glad you got to spend some time with Bella when u came back.

I'm going to start here on replies, so that we can move on. Please don't be offended if I skipped a personal reply this time. You know how it takes a few days to catch up on unpacking, housework, and sleep when you return from a Disney trip. I did read every post written while I was gone when I got back. I thank you all for your well wishes and your prayers for safe travel. The had a little turbulence on the way home due to storms, but nothing bad, and Brooklynn slept the entire flight, so she never knew anything.

Welcome home MeMom! I'm so glad you got to have those special moments with Brooklynn & that you enjoyed them so much!

I did enjoy it. It was hard to see her go off to school this morning knowing I wouldn't be waking up with her tomorrow morning. :sad1:

I know what you mean....it's chilly here too!

WDW at any temp would be lovely though. Hugs for having to come back!

Glad to hear you and Brooklynn enjoyed the time.
Too bad Kay had her hands full with her grandaughter.

I know some adults who wouldn't behave any better...that's why we travel just ourselves.

I see you are enjoying some time with Bella..

I wanted you to see my new ticker!!!

We booked a cruise on the end of our stay next August.

It was a beautiful fall day here.
Brooklynn informed me at some point during the trip: "MeMom, you know what? There is another way you can say fall, and it's called autumn." ;)

I am glad for the longtime friendship I have had with Kay, but she was certainly not on her best behavior at times. It seems that Breanna brings out the worst in her sometimes, but as the adult, she is the one who has to keep her actions and her speech under control.

Very cool for a cruise! :dance3:

Glad you're back, MeMom, and had a great time with Brooklynn. Thank you for the picture texts, they brought much needed Disney joy into my days! You and Brooklynn are truly blessed to have gotten to spend that time together.

I feel sorry that Kay wasn't able to have the same experience with her granddaughter. Hopefully Breanna's behavioral issues will get better over time and maybe they can try it again in a few years.

Sorry I didn't send more. I mostly sent them to Jill to put on Facebook. It was just easier that way, but I did send a very few here and there to individuals.

I am truly blessed. I did a lot of thanking God on the way home from Alabama this morning.

I hope they can have a do over sometime, too. I'm pretty sure it won't be with me, though. Breanna is so much like Kay's daughter was when she was little, and she hasn't changed much through the years. While we were on the trip, Kay went to use her debit card at MCO on the way home and found that it was declined. Her daughter had used it to pay a bill and buy shoes without telling her. She was livid. The drama held on all the way until the end of the trip. :sad2:

Welcome back. I am glad you were able to make magical memories with Brooklynn. Then today you were able to spend precious time with Bella.

I love those girls so much! They make me smile and laugh all the time. God has blessed me beyond anything I could think of deserving in putting them in my life.

Sounds like you had a lovely trip with Brooklynn, I bet she will remember this time with you! It's very special. :goodvibes

It was special. one of my favorite moments was watching her choose fallen flower petals in Epcot. She found a whole rose on the ground in one of the flower beds, and she thought it was a wonderful treasure. :lovestruc I wish we could all be like a five year old again, sometimes, and appreciate the little things.

Welcome home Memom! I can't wait to hear all about your adventures with Brooklyn! I'm sorry to hear about Kay and her granddaughter though. I'm just like you, and can't stand the constant drama and arguing. That would have made me crazy. My mom thinks I am too strict with my DD sometimes, but that is exactly why. I don't want to raise a child that people don't want to be around. And what's sad is that at four years old, it really isn't her fault. She's just doing what she has learned is acceptable. I hope it didn't put too much of a damper on your trip. I think my Mom should have gone on that trip with you and then maybe she would appreciate my parenting style.

Your mom definitely would have appreciated your strict parenting if she had been on this trip. There are times to give kids choices, and there are times to tell them what to do. Tell them, do it, and move on. How hard is that? I could easily tell by Breanna's speech that this is regular behavior for her.

She told Brooklynn this at one point when she was mad at her about something: "Brooklynn, you embarrassed me last night and now you are embarrassing me again today. I'm not putting up with this." Tell me that didn't come straight out of her mom's mouth on a regular basis. :sad2:

Glad you are almost back home- one short trip to make in the AM.

I am sure all the time you spend with the girls on a regular basis and the previous trips had you and Brooklynn in "synch". Glad it all worked out.
Travelling with young ones if you are not used to it can be torture.

Can't wait to hear all about it.

Yes, Brooklynn knows the Disney routines, and she did a good job telling Breanna about what we would do next or about a ride or show. My travel with Brooklynn was definitely a joy - not torture at all!

I made that last leg of the trip this morning. I took care of one suitcase, so I am down to one. I took a long nap this afternoon, so I have some more life in me now to face the second one.

Aww, that's great you had a nice, relaxing trip with Brooklynn! Hope your transition back into the real world is an easy one! I fell behind with this TR a while ago when school started, but I'm definitely going to follow along when you start updating again.

Glad to see you back. I am not able to make it to too many reports these days, as school is taking up an incredible amount of time. There might not be much updating in the next two weeks. I have to prepare for the second of four evaluations this year. That will happen on November 3rd. After that, I can relax and enjoy my November and December holidays. :woohoo:

Welcome home, Memom!! Sounds like you had a good trip! I liked seeing the pics on FB. That's too bad that Kay's trip was so stressful. Hopefully, they will get to try again another time. It's hard traveling with little ones especially if you aren't around them all the time at home. (I don't know how much Kay sees her GD or is around her)
I know what you mean about the weather....yesterday it was in the 80's here and today it was only in the 60's!! Tonight it's supposed to get in the 40's!! Brrr!
Can't wait to hear about your trip!

Kay does spend at least one day a week with Breanna, as her son and his wife are divorced, and she comes to stay with him on a regular basis. As I started hearing her talk about Breanna as the trip got closer, I started to worry a little. I even asked her if she wanted to wait until another time, trying to give her a way to opt out, but she decided to go ahead.

Welcome home MeMom!:goodvibes

I'm glad to hear that you and Brooklynn had a great trip and got to relax and have some special moments together. It's too bad that Kay didn't get to have the same kind of experience. I'm excited to hear about the trip! Sorry your weather isn't nicer, it's cold and rainy up here too.

It was nice to be away from school, and it was very nice to be with Brooklynn in my favorite place! :lovestruc

It was pretty here today, but definitely much cooler than it was in Orlando!

It sounds like a lovely time for you & Brooklynn. Have a safe trip back to your home.

That's great that you had some time with Bella when you got back. I always loved "nastics" when I was younger too. I could do a backbend with the best of them. Not so much now...

That girl loves to climb, crawl, flip, flop, etc. She also loves to dance and put on pretty dresses and jewelry. I had a lot of fun with her yesterday. :)

Welcome home!!!

That's so great that you had an opportunity to go with Brooklynn. I know my mom would love to be able to do that with Riley.

I hope they get that opportunity. :goodvibes
I will say, though, that I did wish several times that Jill and Bella would be coming down to join us after a few days. We missed them. This summer, we will get the best of both worlds - Brooklynn and I are going to fly down midweek, and Jill, John, and Bella are driving down and will be there on Saturday.

Welcome home, Memom. I'm glad you got to spend some good quality time with Brooklynn. I have a feeling she will remember more than you think.

It was nice to see you in person in the Pop Century line! Creighton is adorable. :lovestruc Hope you guys had a grand time. :thumbsup2

Hi MeMom! Glad you and Brooklynn enjoyed your trip!! :goodvibes I'm sure she WILL remember it and treasure it, as well. Sorry to hear Kay didn't quite have the same experience.

Can't wait to see all the pictures...enjoyed the previews from Jill on FB. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you enjoyed them, but I know I didn't do nearly as good a job as Jill does when she is with us.

I hope Brooklynn has fond memories of our time together.

Welcome home MeMom and Brooklynn!!! I'm glad you and Brooklynn had a great trip together. I've heard a little from my dad. He enjoyed meeting up with everyone. I can't wait to hear more about your trip and see all the pictures.

We saw him Saturday at Toy Story, and then he came over to the DIS meet. He was going to meet us at the campfire, but he said he was working on something (an I-pad or I-pod, maybe?) at home. He is always so kind! I'm glad he got to meet some of your other DIS friends, too.

Welcome back.So glad you had a good time with Brooklynn. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Thanks. It'll probably be December before we start on the trip report.

Welcome back!!! I'm glad that you and Brooklynn had such a wonderful time together! I'm sure that she is going to have fond memories of it as well! :goodvibes

Thank you. We did have a good time. I would love to be back sitting at the pool watching her splash around. She's a big girl now, so she gets on her life vest and enjoys the big pools.

Can't wait to hear about your trip!!

Congratulations to your well-behaved son! :woohoo:
I have enjoyed the past two drama-free days. ;)

Welcome home, MeMom & Brooklynn!!!

If your parents talk about a reddish-haired lady screaming at a little girl, they might be talking about Kay. :rolleyes1

It was cooler when the sun went down, but there were still people swimming. They were fine as long as they stayed in the water, but they needed to be wrapped up as soon as they got out.

We were lucky in Orlando, but I did see on the news about tornadoes in the area. We ended up with about two hours of light rain on Tuesday evening and some on Wednesday, and that was it.

Welcome home; thanks for the smile this morning and the other smiles on other days.

(And it was you, right?) :lmao:

Did you enjoy the EWP music? :goodvibes
Of course, if I am in Disney World and there is a live podcast, I am going to share the magic with those back home! ::yes::

So glad that you and Brooklyn had a memorable trip. It's one of those memories that you and she can share forever. You might have to remind her, but that's OK. I would say that I would make a scrapbook of our trip, but I know I won't ever do it. I might get as far as making a photo album, though. :goodvibes

Welcome Home!! So glad you and Brooklynn had a fun time! I am sorry Kay and Breanna had a rough time. Glad you got to spend some time with Bella when u came back.

We had such fun, and Brooklynn very much enjoyed spending time with her cousins every day for a little while.

Welcome, welcome, welcome back!!! :goodvibes

Thank you. I had planned to get started in my evaluation today. I did get to stop by the Parent-Teacher Store and get some stuff, but after I got home, I was pretty much a zombie, so I opted for a nap. I will pay for it tomorrow.

Glad you had a nice trip. I think as a teacher it is an extra tough cookie to swallow listening to kids when they are not behaving, and you can tell they never behave. Can't wait to see some fall pics.... I sure could use a Disney trip (or a fall break).

Ok I am now relieved that you posted. I have been thinking about you today knowing you were driving home. Glad you are home safely.

Now you have to get caught up on my TR.:rotfl: I have been updating like crazy since you were gone as I have been home & DH & I leave on Wed. for F&W so I want to get my TR done.:)

It was really good to see you and meet Kay and Breanna! I'm sorry that it was a tough time for Kay and and her little spitfire of a granddaughter...
I know that it isn't always easy to keep children happy, even at Disney but it's so disappointing to have such high hopes for a trip and have it go wrong. Then there's the money spent....

On the other hand you enjoyed your time with Brooklynn and this trip can be chalked up to a lesson learned!

Gee, I feel bad for you Memom. I really hope they didn't ruin the trip for you. I feel for Brooklyn too. Poor thing. I'm sure she isn't used to being talked to that way. I bet she wondered what the heck was wrong with that kid. Well, I sure hope that Jill is able to go with you on all future trips and you don't have a repeat of that situation. In fact, next time if Jill can't go, I'll be happy to tag along with you! I know my DD would LOVE Brooklyn! :cutie:

Main Street was pretty in orange, as it always is in October. When I get the pictures loaded, I will give you a preview. :)

I will enjoy your many updates. If I am anywhere near the end, I like to go fast and furious, too, to finish a report before we take off again. ::yes:: I only made one loop around F&W, but the two things I bought were new to me, and they were both good. :thumbsup2 I'm sure you guys will have more World Showcase time and will enjoy more F&W delicacies.

That is one of the things she kept bringing up - how she spent all this money for her to go down there and be a brat. It was really uncomfortable several times.

Brooklynn and I will not have anyone with us for the first few days of the June trip, so that will be much better. :goodvibes

Tuesday, Kay and Breanna went back to Pop to swim when Brooklynn and went to World Showcase. Wednesday, we weren't with them until travel time, as she met her brother and his family for breakfast at 8 and then hung out with them at Hollywood Studios.

We had a great time when we were with the boys and when we were alone, and we had some good times when Breanna was being a normal kid. She went nuts in Small World - she loved it and pointed out everything so excitedly. She was caught up in being a little girl rather than somebody's boss, which was nice.

I think we have a good plan in order for June. Brooklynn and I will fly down from Nashville 3-4 days early and have some time together, and then the rest of the family will come on Saturday. I will be flying back on the next Friday or Saturday, because I have to start church camp on Sunday. We're going to do the WDW stuff, then go out to see Wigd and Shocker at Vero for at least a day and possible a night, for some nice wind down time. Then, I have to get back to MCO to fly home to Nashville. Jill's crew will then start the drive home to Huntsville.

I think my last stop on the summer trip was at the Main Street Firehouse. I remember putting up the picture of the badges.

Remember this shirt?

DisneySummer20112ndset692.jpg

Jill wanted me to get this for her on our October trip.
They had moved the firehouse merchandise into the Emporium, so I was able to find it for her easily. :thumbsup2

On hot summer trips, we stop for lots of cups of ice water. Here is a water stop at Casey's.

On the summer trip, Jill's family was on the dining plan, so they got desserts and drinks with all of their meals.

That's it for this morning. Have a super Saturday, DIStown!

Love the MK pics this morning! We pretty much listen to the Four Parks CD all the time. The boys and I love it. Seeing POTC reminded me that last night we were at the drive thru window for Starbucks, Jason thought he would embarrass me by blasting POTC. The people inside thought we were crazy and asked us what we were dancing to that was so funny.
Glad you have your June trip pretty much figured out. We will not cross paths. My plans right now are to try for Vero for 3 nights and then WDW for 7 at the first of June. Oh well, at least we get to see each other on NYE! What are your dates again?
Have a great day!

Welcome home, MeMom! I am so glad you had a great time with Brooklyn, but sorry to hear about the drama between Kay and Breanna.

Love your math lesson idea.

I had a picture like the top one too but did not notice the skulls. :lmao: :confused3

You got a nice of Johnny Depp on PotC.:thumbsup2 I was on the wrong side of the boat to get a good one.
