Have a good day! Good luck. The kids are lucky to have you!

Hope you are coping with your first day back. It is always interesting isn't it to learn each childs personalities and styles of learning. They are very lucky to have you as their teacher.Frazer is about to enter year 5 at Junior school (ages 9-10). He will be in a class of 35 this year, due to 2 teachers leaving and not replaced:scared1: Big classes!! Let us know how you get on.:)

I just have to ask where you found these shirts? I've seen them a few times and I really want one now  Thank you! Hahahaha

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Hi there
I saw these at world of disney in downtown disney in the beginning of July. They are in the part of the store where the hats are near the door facing the stage outside. I posted a one page picture report of my quick trip and they are there with some other tshirts like it. here is the link

MeMom, I hope your first day of school is fabulous and you have 23 angels in your class! :thumbsup2

I had 25 on roll. I am not sure how many of them are angels. I think there might have been three sets of little devil horns among the group. ;)

Welcome back to work, hope you have a great class.

I start vacation tomorrow. WOOHOO!!!

Vacation - YAY! :woohoo:
I know it is well deserved. I hope you guys have a most awesome time on your trip!

Have a great first day of school!!

Thanks. Middle Tennessee was crawling with school buses today. Has East Tennessee started back?

Have a wonderful first day of school MeMom! :flower3: Although we know they won't all be, I'll cross my fingers that you have many more :littleangel: this year than you have had in years in past. I know you'll make a difference in these children's lives that they'll remember and the parents will hopefully appreciate. I know you have your struggles throughout the year and some parents just don't seem to care, but please remember that there are those of us that do. They appreciate every moment of your hard work with their children!

All of us here would be honored to have you as our children's teacher! I know I would!

You are very kind. I would enjoy teaching all of our DIS kids. :goodvibes This looks like a pretty good group overall. I had some talkers and a couple of kids with some issues - Asperger's I think on both of them - so I will have to really be aware of their needs. I want every kid to feel safe, comfortable, and successful in my room. I loved seeing their smiles today when I was telling about their weekend homework - family, friends, and fun! :cool1:

Hope you have a great first day with your new students! :teacher:
And heres a treat for you! :mickeybar Thought you would prefer that over an apple! :thumbsup2
Have a great year Memom!

Ooooh, a Mickey bar! I will take it. Ice cream can soothe this teacher's woes on most days. :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful first day!! I'll be praying for you; I know you're impacting those kids in positive ways. :)

Also -- I'll be in Chicago this weekend so hopefully I'll make it over to a Disney store. I'll be sure to text you some pictures! :)

That will brighten the weekend!

Have a wonderful first day back at school! I'm hoping for a wonderful group of kids that are excited and ready to learn - you deserve it! :goodvibes

If they are excited to learn, that will make my job very easy. ::yes:: I have lots that I can teach them. :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful first day of school!!!

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thank you, friend! I may be asking your advice throughout the year on tips for making things better for a couple of my students. I know I've read about you making cards, etc. in your trip planning. As I go along, I may be asking for your help in making the best possible learning environment for these kids.

:

Anyway, today is another new beginning. New children will come into my life, and I will get to know them well through the next 180 school days. I try to influence them in positive ways - especially in giving them independence and organizational skills. I feel like those are the best tools I can give them to help them through their future school years. They will learn about me, my family, and of course, my Disney love. We will have fun as we become a family of sorts for this year, and we will learn, learn, learn!

I do enjoy being a teacher. Even though I lament about all the paperwork, testing, mandates, and pressures, I love nurturing and teaching the kids. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers this year as I impact these young lives. Pray that I set a good example for them in thought and word and deed each day.

Have a great day, friends![/B][/COLOR]

Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your students.

The paper work part keeps you from spending more time teaching and helping the kids. For example the week of testing is a week you are not teaching. That is why I hated the testing and mandates, sometimes I felt like I spend more time proving I could teach , than actually teaching.

25 kids! We haven't had numbers like that in a while! We have to keep Kg. thru 3rd grade at 18 and 4th and 5th at 22. I work in a pretty big school (pop. around 860) and we have a LOT of classes! It's a challenge keeping the numbers that low, and often have to add teachers after school starts and the last minute registrations come in  They usually end up being combination classes which is a scheduling nightmare! I expect to be pretty busy for the next few weeks!! I'll be sooooo ready to go to Disney in Sept.!!

(they just published capacity info in the paper yesterday, and my school's capacity is at 114%, our percentage of free and reduced lunch population is 16%. They're doing a total rezone next year to hopefully more evenly distribute the percentages!)

I've said a prayer for you already! I hope you have the best year ever and I hope you get a great class of kids with less problems than they had last year. Can't wait to hear all the details when you get home!

My brain is too fried to tell you much. There were no incidents today. It was a fairly normal start. I had a couple of hovering parents that had to be encouraged to leave. I have a few mischievous little boys, but they're all as cute as can be, and I told ILuvXU when we were texting earlier - I think I can take them!

Have a great 1st day of school! :goodvibes

Thanks!
Now, how many days until fall break? :upsidedow

Hoping you have a great first day.:goodvibes

Thanks. Enjoy every minute of your vacation!

Hooray for the first day of school!! Since I can't find any apples, how about a banana for the teacher?

MeMom, if your trip reports are any indication of what kind of teacher you are (which I believe they are), you are the kind of teacher I would want for my child. You take the time to make sure everything is in order, you make a visually stimulating environment for students, and your love for what you do is evident. I know that your year will be filled with challenges and rewards, but you already have the most important thing in mind, the students.

I like apples and bananas, but if you really want to put something on this teacher's desk, make it a watermelon. That's my favoritest fruit ever!

I consider my job a mission field, really. Our students have many needs. We give them breakfast and lunch. We give them school clothes and supplies. We provide free after-school tutoring. They still need more. They need to learn to do simple things like play a game without conflicts or use logic to put a puzzle together. They need to know what it feels like to have a brand new pack of 64 crayons. Do you remember as a kid how exciting it was to get a new BIG box of crayons with all the cool colors? Little things like that are so rare for these kids! They need to get messy making chocolate chip cookies from scratch - blending ingredients, licking their fingers, and waiting for the aroma of their creation to begin to fill the air. If I ever win the lottery, I will set up some kind of after school mentoring program for them. They just need to spend time with good role models in a safe, welcoming environment, and I think we would see leaps and bounds in their learning.

Happy 1st Day of School!!
What a great attitude you have at the start of a fresh school year. I hope all your students come in with that same positive outlook!

You know, I really did feel refreshed for this year. Some years I don't just because of the way vacations or camps fall, but I had a nice amount of down time this summer, and it really was nice.

Have a great first day of school MeMom!

Thanks for thinking of me. :goodvibes

I loved all the Fantasmic Photos. Jill your pictures of the boat are great! I can't wait to see that in a couple of weeks. Jill I love the picture of the girls with Tigger. It's so cute to see your hands trying to hold hold your little one and keep her in the picture. So funny.

Memom, so sorry about all the testing and problems with the school system and most assuredly I will pray for you as you teach those kids and that your love for Christ will shine out to the kids and be such an example for them each and every day of the school year. I hear so many people picking on teachers and saying they get paid way too much for only working 9 months a year. I will tell you that I stand up for you all very quickly. There is no way they could pay me to do all you do. At least when I get off work, I can go home and not have to take papers home to be graded and stuff. Also, they say you all get 3 months off, but do you really? I mean, it seems to me you've been working on your classroom for weeks now. I think people don't really get it. Just want you to know I do and I think you teachers are awesome!! So anyway, here's one person standing on the side of all the teacher who truly care about their students!!

Anyway, I guess I should get off my soapbox now. ;)

I love the pictures as you were leaving Hollywood Studios. So cool with no one there.

Have a great first day of school!

There are many people who like to get down on teachers and say they whine too much. I think some of them do whine a lot myself. ;) I also think that everyone who is not a teacher should spend some time in a classroom - not just go for a party or field trip, but spend an entire day from start to finish. I would guess that most would be very ready to go home by the end of the day. I suppose some people, not knowing what it is really like, think teachers sit at their desks all day watching kids quietly sit at desks doing worksheets. What a misconception that is!

I'm pretty sure that all the teachers in our group would like to have many more parents like you! ::yes::

Hope you have a great first day of school!

Thank you, ma'am!

MeMom, I hope you have a great day at school! So glad to hear that your are in a district that will keep the class size to a great level. Jeremy's school really cut back this past year and of course, it was teacher's they cut. He will be in a class with almost 30 students now and no hope of that being reduced. I thought it was bad last year when there were 25 but I know 30 will be worse.

I don't think we tell our teachers enough how much we appreciate what they do. You have a tough job each day and really do make an impression on their lives. So, thank you from all of us parents who appreciated the hard work you put into it!

They won't let us go over 25 in 2nd grade, but they would like it to hover more around 22-23, I think.

:teacher: Good luck today!!

1 year from today exactly is my wedding day!! :bride:

That is very exciting! Makes me smile to think about it. :)

Have a good day! Good luck.

I will take your good luck wishes, good thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust - not so much for dealing with the kids, but with all of our new curriculum and the new evaluation system.

Hope you are coping with your first day back. It is always interesting isn't it to learn each childs personalities and styles of learning. It is very interesting getting to know them. I love to start a conversation in a group and then sit back and listen.

I hope your first day was great!!:goodvibes

Thanks a lot! It was a pretty good day. :goodvibes

Hmmm....spoken like someone who knows. ;)
We start testing on the 22nd.

We have very different schools, for sure! Our free/reduced is about 97%!
We are busting at the seams and have added a couple of portables. I would be really happy if our numbers would allows us to add another teacher. :) 25 kids in a room - that's too much, and a teacher cannot give the attention needed to each one. The quiet kids get lost in the shuffle of the day. :sad1:

**************************************

I don't want this to get too far off track, because I don't want to be chastised by our kind moderators. So, let's go to Pop Century to hang out for a few minutes.

Good morning, lake.

Tramp enjoyed seeing a bunch of hot air balloons going by.

disneysummmmer382.jpg

Some people think the bright colors of Pop Century are tacky, and that may be, but I like them. I think it gives it a 'vibe' of being alive and happy!

disneysummmmer383.jpg

I ended up in the gift shop. :goodvibes

Main Street's Mayor Mickey.

disneysummmmer384.jpg

I see a hoe-sie. :)

disneysummmmer385.jpg

These will be among the next pins I get. I like the ones from the different lands of Magic Kingdom.

I ended up getting this pin instead of the actual hat that I had planned on getting. It was cheaper and took up less space.

I also got this one

and this one. They didn't have one for Garden Grill, so this was as close as I could get to my momento of that meal.

You know I had Nemo on the brain all summer.

More shopping next time.

I was thinking of you on your first day back today. I hope tomorrow goes well, too. The kids in your class are very lucky to have you! I could never teach older kids, like you do. I prefer them little, like infant/toddler. Preschool is my cutoff.

Of course, I love the Pop Century pictures. Your pictures really just make me more and more excited for January!

Thank you, friend! I may be asking your advice throughout the year on tips for making things better for a couple of my students. I know I've read about you making cards, etc. in your trip planning. As I go along, I may be asking for your help in making the best possible learning environment for these kids.

I'd be so happy to offer any input I can! Please feel free to ask! I can send you my email address too if you'd like. :goodvibes

I'm so happy that your first day went smoothly! I'm sure you can take those mischievous boys! I know they'll be eating right out of your hand in a few weeks. ;)

Great pin pictures! I also bought the 40th anniversary ear hat pin! It was my favorite among the 40th collection.

I also love mornings at Pop. The color are so alive, and vibrate. It is the best time to see the ducks, rabbits, and birds etc. I love watching the resort come alive, as people get to moving around.

I love your Pin pictures. The girls really got into that this trip, especially Emily. We got a stash from Ebay and traded away till their hearts content. Emily loved it and it was good for shy Hannah to seek CM out to do it with. I love the lands pins for MK especially.

We finally got the cork boards up in their rooms for their pin collections. I thought it would be fun to see it grow and grow!

All caught up!

I love your classroom!!! I remember second grade. My teacher was scary  She was a good teacher though. She was a friend of my grandma's. They used to teach at the same school before my grandma retired. Ironically I had her son at a gym teacher this year.

We're leaving for Vermont on saturday! I've had a busy week so I really haven't done any packing yet...I'll be busy tomorrow :rotfl: I can send you some pretty lake pictures if you want :)

I also made my very first post on one of your reports. I can't believe I have been reading along for three years and have gotten to know so many great people!

I think I had one introduction post, but I'm pretty sure my second was on a MeMom and Jill report! I think that was about 2 years ago :)

I wish my family in Ohio was closer to Nashville because you really do! Christine and probably Katie can vouch for the fact that he really is as crazy as I say he is! Christine got to hang out with us in AK and watch my dad grabbing things on the wall in the EE queue, and ride Primeval Whirl with us.

Yup :rotfl:

I always enjoy your morning trips around Pop. Your pictures in past TR's convinced me to stay there for my upcoming trip. :thumbsup2 Then I got a pin code for 40% off a deluxe and I changed to the Wilderness Lodge! Figured if I'm turning 40 at the Magic Kingdom on it's 40th anniversary then I may as well go big! :woohoo: It will be our first time in a deluxe and I'm so excited! But, I will book POP in the future!!

I love a morning shopping trip!!! :)

Those pins are super cute. I especially like the 40th anniversay hat one!

Praying for you and your students. The kids are very lucky to have you as a teacher. You can tell that you truly care about them. I hope you have a fantastic year!
