I love this! I just got reminded of this in a big way. My neighbor's house caught on fire this week (she is also my cousin and best friend). She keeps babies in her home for a living, and they were all there when an electrical fire started in the kitchen. She called me hysterical and I ran over to help. We got all the babies out and the fire department got there quickly, put the fire out, and thankfully was able to save their home. They have some pretty bad damage on one end of the house, but it is repairable, and most importantly no one was hurt. It was very scary though to think how much worse it could have been. I have had a hard time getting it all out of my mind and I just keep thinking about how thankful I am for my family, home, health, and life in general! It was a stark reminder to me to never take those things for granted b/c it can all change in a split second when you least expect it!
That gave me chils to read. I am so glad she had help and that everyone was safe. A couple of years ago, I had a student who lost his home in a house fire. They were displaced for a long time, and it was pretty much a total loss. He was the sweetest little boy, and he didn't talk much about it. When he did tell the original story about the dog waking them up, I was so grateful for that dog!
I think we could trade places with a lot of people in this world right now and be suddenly more grateful for the good lives we have.
My DMom is home and everything went fine.
She had cataract surgery on the one eye and they will do the other eye in January.
Thank you for having her in your thoughts today. She was touched that you all cared.
I am so thankful it all went well. She was amazed at how fast the procedure was done.
Doctors are amazing!
I have said many times that I am so thankful for smart people who become doctors.

If the world depended on me to fix them, there would be a Toy Story Band-Aid on everything, and I am pretty sure that would not work.
We are all glad to hear that your mom did well.

Keep us posted about her procedure in January, too.
Lana, so glad your Mom's surgery went well!!
I didn't get to post before the surgery but was thinking about her.
I just love the Mickey kitchen supplies. I think about buying them every time I am there.
Hope everybody's week is going okay. I had to go for my annual exam to the doctor today. Trust me, I am the worst patient and had been putting it off. At least it is over.
You will have to get a few odds and ends for your utensils drawer.
I bet doctors do make terrible patients. I hope you got an A+ healthy review.
I finally have a chance to get on the DIS! I had a very busy long weekend. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving On Sunday we went to my 1 year old cousin Caroline's baptism. This was the first time we've seen her and she's ADORABLE! Her dad kept pointing out that she smiled every time she saw me I'm not sure why, since she doesn't know me but I'm not complaining Then after the service we had lunch at my mom's cousin's house. It was quiet at first...until we had three little boys in the same room Kazin, Caleb, and my 3 and a half year old cousin Adam(who's mom is pregnant with another boy ) As soon as Kazin saw Caleb he said "Caleb Elijah!" and took off I have no idea why Kazin is using middle names when he talks to people now but it's cute There were 5 kids in total(I'm not sure who the other little girl was) so it was a little chaotic Kazin's talking in full sentences I heard him say "Daddy what's that up there?" in perfect english. I almost fell over

Then when he and Josh left he came over to where I was playing with Caleb and said "Caleb Elijah I'm going home now." I can't believe it! He'll be 3 in January.
In other news, we now have dates for out potential Disney trip We're looking at Jan 7-12 or 13. We'd have a huge overlap with Meg! And we'd make it for the last night of the Osborne Lights!!!! I really hope we can go!!!
I bought that in Feb! It's good to have in case I drop my phone in something wet and lose all my contact numbers...yes that has happened to me before. My first cell phone fell in the dish pan
Five kids makes for chaos, but it's fun chaos. What a blessing those children are to your family!
I'm glad your dates are set. I think it will happen.
As long as we're talking prayers and medical treatments, could you all send up a couple for my DD10? Today I'm taking her to her first orthodonist visit where they do the impressions etc. in preparation for braces. She's so nervous! I never had them, so it's hard for me to tell her what to expect. She's asked her friends, but is scared.
I'm glad your mom's eye surgery went well Lana. My mom's had both cataracts and glaucoma, so I totally get it!
Good luck on all of the mouth work to come. None of my kids had braces, but I know many who did.
So glad that everything went well.
I had serious orthodontic work done when I was younger - don't even want to go into it all. I know some people who have been through it lately, and it doesn't seem like they keep them on as long as when I was growing up. They aren't comfortable, but the results are well worth it. Her teeth will be sore for a couple of days, but to me that is just an excuse to eat ice cream Good luck to her
Thanks Kristen. It looks like she will be a pretty standard case - about 2 years worth. A lot of her friends (she's in 5th grade) seem to be getting them now. When I was a kid, it was usually in middle or high school. I think I'll be treating her to some milkshakes!! Today shouldn't be too bad, I'm sure when she actually gets them on it will be worse.
Yes, today should be easy - just gross molds. When she gets them they will definitely be sore. Milkshakes will be perfect

Some kids really want them since all of their friends have them - kind of a right of passage.
Well I am happy to report that we survived visit #1 to the orthodontist! She said it was gross, but it didn't take long. Now we go back in January. (Have to wait for the new year's medical expense account!)
So you can spend some prayers on others!
Kelli - How are you. SO sorry about your MIL. I hope you're feeling okay too!
I could totally go for some MK candy now!! Good thing there are Christmas treats popping up all over the place!! (well maybe that's not so good. my jeans are feeling tight!)
Sheree- I had braces and everyone is right. The molds were the worst part. GROSS! It hurt some when they were adjusted, but just a nuisance mainly. It is well worth it!
I love to listen in on DIStown conversations as people are helping and encouragin each other.
Hi MeMom! Great last update. I think shopping out of any park but especially Magic Kingdom is the best way to leave. It's never fun to say goodbye but with goodies, that makes it a little easier.
Sorry I've been missing for awhile. Thanks for your kind words on FB after my mother in law passed away.
Our Disney goodbye in January is going to be a rough one, as we will not be back until June!
We are sorry for your loss. It is great that you had a good relationship with your mother-in-law, as many (or maybe most) times, that is not the case.
I love that CM's pin! I need to think of what to write on mine if we get them when we're there. When my friend went last year, she wrote "no snow" on hers (we coincidentally got a foot of snow the week she was gone )
As always, I love the shopping pictures. Your pictures always make me feel like I am there. We hit five weeks today, and tomorrow we'll be able to start saying that we are going next month! Kailyn and I are both really hoping that Christine can go when we'll be there, too. It will be a blast to all be down there at the same time again!
I had to yank my car doors open yesterday because they were iced shut. That gave me a small taste of what is coming for the next three months. I did not like the taste.

I freeze to the bone in cold weather and am miserable.
I'm betting Christine and her mom are going to be making that trip.
I'm glad your mum had a successful day Lana! She's so sweet!
I get to meet her soon, I think.
Love the CM's pin...yes I want to celebrate Life everyday!!
Caren so glad you didn't have to use a snow day yet...YUCK!! The one perk of living further down South...no snow...but sometimes just sometimes I miss it!!!!
If I can have a snow day and be inside for the day, I am okay with the cold for a short time. If I go out and my face freezes and I can't get my car doors open, I like it a bit less.

One day last year I could not get any of the doors to open. I came in and woke Drew up and he crawled through the back and went up and forced a door open from the inside.

Because I despise the cold so much, I treasure those spring break Disney trips when I can bask in the warmth of the sun and the color of the trees and flowers.
I went 5 times with mine.
Glad everything went OK.
Glad the orthodontist went OK too. CHris had a spacer on his upper teeth and he was a basket it case the day he got it. Anything that prevents him from eating normally is torture to him.
I don't recall what was wrong with one of our counselors at church camp one year, but she had to have her jaws wired, and she could only have liquid 'food'. That would have been horrible!
Ok everybody stop talking bad about the Mickey sink drainer. I happen to know someone that has one.....
Lana, good to hear your mom is doing well!
Sheree, both girls had braces.....ugh! She will be fine!
Free Mickey! Free Mickey! Free Mickey!
I don't know about you, but I saw these when we were there in October and the red-eyed Tink freaked me out a little!
I want to have a Belle party for Seth. But I don't think Ray would go for it.
You could call it a Beast party.
Yeah, red eyes belong on tree frogs and in bad pictures, not on fairies.
All caught up! Great pics as usual. All the Christmas pics are making me miss Disney at Christmas-we were there last year....Will u be doing a TR for ur Oct trip??
Since we did not make a holiday trip at all last year, I am very ready to see some Disney Christmas things again.
I will do something for the October trip, but I'm not sure if it might be in a different format than the other trips. It might be more of a synopsis with some highlight pictures, and it might be spring before I do it. We will wrap this one up before we go, and then we'll do a regular report for the Christmas trip.
