Which park are these girls headed to this morning?

By the looks of things, it appears to be a Magic Kingdom day! :woohoo:

I leave you at bag check for now. See you this evening. Have a FANTABULOUS Friday!

I think that your lesson sounded like a great one! I will keep my fingers crossed for high marks for you! :goodvibes

Oh, how I'd love to be entering the MK this morning...it's all dark and cold out right now and Bay Lake looks so pretty and sparkly in the background :cloud9:

I appreciate the good thoughts. Kristen gets to look forward to joining us in this craziness soon. ;)

Oh, I already see the craziness...whether it be in the schools or in the newspapers, cruicfying teachers because they're "so overpaid". They're talking about increasing the number of teacher evaluations per year at the school I'm student teaching in, too. :sad2:

Thanks, everyone, for the good thoughts for today. I'll let you know if I still have a job tomorrow evening.

I did a lesson on how a community needs all kinds of workers. I was able to borrow and buy several hats, such as fire, police, construction worker, and train conductor. I borrowed some lab coats and stethoscopes from our school nurse and from Kay, and I got some vehicles - ambulance, tractor, firetruck, towtruck, garbage truck, and helicopter from my old teaching partner. I managed to snag a mini-vacuum cleaner and a toolbox from the YMCA Fun Company, too. :thumbsup2 We talked about the different citizens who live in a place and make it run. We discussed the vocabulary, and I had to assess in many ways whether the kids were grasping. This will sound familiar to some of you.

I took pictures of the kids in their attire at the end of the lesson. They looked cute, and I think I drove home the point that all jobs are important, so even if I get straight 2's, I still think it was a good lesson. :upsidedow

Tonight, I can really relax a little for the first time in a long while. The two 'big' evaluations are done. The next two are based on environment and professionalism, so there is not a bunch of paperwork involved with those. It feels good to have this weight off of me. I am going to DIS a little, make out a contractions test, and then go to bed. I will check in later to hopefully find Matilda looking very cute and very pathetic and hopefully feeling better. :cheer2:

That lesson sounds great, MeMom. Sometimes I wish I was going to teach elementary so I could do lessons like that and not get scoffed at by bratty teenagers :headache: I can't see how you would get lower than a 5!!

I'm glad you have this weight lifted off of your shoulders now, even if more evaluations are to come in the future. DIS time always helps take some stress away :goodvibes

Starting a day at Everything Pop, followed by some MK...it doesn't get any better! Looks like it was a beautiful day so far, as well :thumbsup2

I love starting my day off with a touch of Pop and hair fixing. :yay:

I'm glad the eval went well! Those kids are lucky to have you!!

I'm considering teaching; I just love little kids & at one point in college, I was an Education major. I'm good at my job now & it's not that I don't enjoy it, but I'm kind of at a crossroads in my life & deciding what to do. What holds me back, though, is what seems to be uncertainty in schools & the rules overshadowing the teaching. I know "change starts with me" and all that, but as much as I'd love to teach, I don't know that I want to be in what I consider a badly damaged system.

I hope you have a GREAT Friday!! Any big weekend plans?

 Hello, Neighbor! Welcome! I live across the Mississippi in Arkansas about 50 mintues from Memphis. I just returned from The Magic and Pop where I got to meet a group of great Distown people. MeMom and Brooklynn were two of them. It is a great place to hangout!

HI OVER THERE!!!:wave2: Sorry it took me so long to respond!

I am so jealous! We don't have a trip planned right now, we had a new Mouseketeer born in June and the budget just won't allow it. (Gotta fix that in my signature :headache:)I am hoping that we will get to go back "home" to our special place at Pop next year and meet up with some of ya'll! How old is Ty? I just know that my oldest and Brooklynn would have a ball together, they remind me so much of each other and that is why I love to follow along with the Memom and Jill reports. :chat:

SO cool! I will take one of each. Or at least the NBC one. I like that they are conveniently located at Everything Pop. ;) If they're still around in January, I will definitely be buying some.

My dad texted me from Home Depot earlier, telling me he got window plastic for my windows (they're veryyyyy old and drafty), AND some "Mickey noggins"! I can't wait to start making a countdown!

MeMom it sounds like you presented your lesson very well. What a great idea to get different hats & things. I bet you get a high grade. Like Anita said you never give yourself enough credit. I know that would make me very nervous to be evaluated like that.

At my work I get evaluated by the finance director once a year and that is scary enough and I always get nervous even though I usually get great evals. It is just a nerve wracking thing to go through.

Love the Pop shopping pics & the hair fixing to get started on a fun day starting with MK!!

Hi there! Sorry I've been out of the loop for a few days we were very busy with Halloween around here. Everett really enjoyed it, and he even learned how to say "trick or treat" and wasn't too shy to show off his new words to complete strangers. ;)

I'm happy to hear that your eval went smoothly and I hope you got very high marks. I'm so sorry that you have to jump through so many hoops, it makes me nervous just to read about it!

Wonder what you guys are going to get up to in the Mk? :)

Hi back! Ty will be 3 April 8th. I got to meet Miss Brooklynn and MeMom last month at MK. We will all have to have a Memphis Zoo meet next spring. How old is your little one?

Hee hee. More shopping with MeMom. Going tomorrow, yay!!!!!

Love the hair fixing rituals. Sadly, I don't get the opportunity to do that with my niece's hair. Someday, I will have hair fixing rituals of my own.

Oh, how I'd love to be entering the MK this morning...it's all dark and cold out right now and Bay Lake looks so pretty and sparkly in the background :cloud9:

The warmth does look nice right now. It's been a rather gloomy day here.

They had us score videos of teacher before school started as an introduction to what we would be doing. The one we all scored as mostly 3's was a 1-2 teacher by their standards. The one we scored as 4's and 5's was a 2-3 teacher. You would have to be Disney World wrapped up in a person to get all 5's. Or as my assistant principal said, "You have to be God or Jesus to get a 5." :upsidedow

You have to love Everything Pop, that is a great gift shop.

It sure is, and it's not a bit crowded for one's shopping pleasure in the early morning. :thumbsup2

It sounds like a great lesson and I wish you lots of luck in getting a high score.

I love starting my day off with a touch of Pop and hair fixing. :yay:

I got enough 4's to keep me floating, so I am happy. The assistant principal is my evaluator, and it is common knowledge throughout the building that she is the tougher grader. This is one time when I think I'd like 'the man' grading me.

Violet will need plenty of Disney hair bows. :lovestruc

Think long and think hard about that education decision.

My big plans are to veg out her tonight, clean the house tomorrow and probably make a quick grocery run, and then go to church Sunday. We are filling care packages for college students Sunday, so I will get those ready to ship out. I plan to do NO school work!

We'll have to make sure our paths cross in WDW. :goodvibes

We have plastic on our back windows, too.

How many heads did he swipe, and what colors did he choose?

We went from once every other year to four times per year.

I have forgotten what we did, so I look forward to seing the pictures, too.

We surely do jump through hoops in the education field, but if we want to keep our jobs, we jump. ::yes::

Hi back! Ty will be 3 April 8th. I got to meet Miss Brooklynn and MeMom last month at MK. We will all have to have a Memphis Zoo meet next spring. How old is your little one?

A May meet in Memphis. Wonder who all would be interested in that?

Hee hee. More shopping with MeMom. Going tomorrow, yay!!!!!

Hope all of your Disney trips are most magical! :wizard:

I appreciate everyone's kind words. I am glad it is all over, and I am glad I am still employed. For now. ;)

I am going to comfort myself with a bowl of ice cream and some HGTV now. Hope you all have a great evening!

Sounds like you have been the good kind of busy. ENjoy this time at school - before the real world really hits.

I really have been! I'm trying to--it can be hard at times!

-I really wish ALL vending machines looked like that!!!
-The Mickey Mummy Cookie is Adorable!
-I could totally go for a Mickey bar right now!
-I also LOVE the white chocolate pretzels! I always buy a few bags to bring back for snacks until my next trip!
-I have that lime green kitchen towel and LOVE it! I can't wait to go back and buy it in the other colors!!!

Sounds like you did well. We have a similar sytem for raises when we actually get them. There is a range but to get near the highest you need to walk on water and it is so frustrating when you are told that your work is great but it is your job so can't be exemplary so you get lumped in with meets expectations. :sad2:

I applaud you for being "above the average" when those in charge "grade" in a bell curve. ;)

Just what you need. NO school work.

I hope you enjoyed your ice cream. :upsidedow

Here is a picture of Matilda. She is doing so much better today. She had her drains removed and the doctor said that she is healing nicely. She doesn't have to wear the e-collar anymore. This is good because she figured out a way to escape it and wouldn't keep it on. We investigated the area where she got hurt. It is in our backyard. My husband is in construction and has heavy equipment trailers that haul all his tractors. Apparently, she didn't see it since it was so dark and ran right under the corner where a v-shape piece of metal sticks out from the taillight. She just caught her back on it and tore it open. When she goes outside now, she won't go anywhere near that side of the yard. I don't blame her.

Warning.......This next picture is kinda gross. It shows Matilda with her stitches and drains but it is the one where she looks like she had her head stuck in a lamp shade. She hated the e-collar and wouldn't pick her head up. It was kinda funny.

Oh poor furbaby. A cone of shame indeed. I am glad you found out what she got caught on. I am so glad the vet was able to fix her up . That is a huge area.
