Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

I love your Nemo bulletin board idea...if only I didn't teach 11th graders...well, I could get away with it in Jan. or so. After they get to know me and realize how difficult the course is. If I started with Nemo, they might think the course was going to be a breeze...

Great tour of DTD. Sorry you didn't go in Basin. I go in and spend 30 minutes aimlessly walking around and leave without anything. I really need to decide what I want before I go!

The new legos looks awesome. Is the tourise family still there too, or did they take it away?

I would love to have a real Mr. Ray's Lagoon in my room. :goodvibes Wonder how hard it would be to upkeep a ray tank?

That's why we didn't go in Basin - because I knew we didn't have enough time for me to browse. It's not exactly John's favorite kind of store. I never got back to DTD for the rest of the trip, either. I stayed with the girls one evening so Jill and John could go down there, but I never got back myself.

I really should get a do-over, shouldn't I? ;)

The tourist family is there with some Disney additions, as I have seen in other pictures, but I didn't get to it to take a picture of it.

Oh I could spend days just at DTD. :). Love it!

We had Earl this trip as well. Yummmmmoooooo! I get the one with basil, mozzarella, tomato & balsamic. I'm salivating just writing that! :)

I never feel like I spend enough time in Downtown Disney.
Or World Showcase.
Or Animal Kingdom.

I really need to go to Disney World more often. :)

Joining in for this one! I hope I can keep up this time. Since it's summer vacation, I have lots more time.

The girls are so cute!
Love the Lego sculptures and the fountain.

Yay for more DIS time! My summer is coming to an end shortly.

It was very cool to get to see the Lego sculptures. They are pretty amazing. It would be kind of fun to have a job where you get paid to put Legos together.

That video of Bella was just too cute:love: Great start to the trip! Earl looks delish as always!!! What's your favorite one to get? Loved your bulletin board idea! You are so creative~! I think I would like to be an adoptive child of yours! If you'll have more that is! :yay: Looking forward to reading about your first day!!!!

My very favorite is the Holiday Sandwich that they have during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but on that good Earl bread, I have never had a sandwich I didn't like.

If you read any of our past reports, you'll learn that I want to be Mrs. Walton and have a bunch of kids, so I'll be glad to add you to my crew. :thumbsup2

Lovely photo's. DTD is a good place to spend some relaxing Disney time. What is it with kids and walls!! Frazer, who is going on 10 still can't walk past a wall without climbing on it:). Great pictures of Walt. Thank goodness he did what he did .:yay:

I guess it makes kids feel big and maybe a little daring. Brooklynn loves to walk on curbs or rocks or whatever, and of course Bella is right behind her these days.

Oh boo the rain clouds!! I hope they went away!

That fountain/waterfall thing you took a picture of is so neat! I love how it's all flower pots.

Earl is so good! A definitely must-do at DTD!

I just love that picture you posted of Walt. His smile is contagious. And I think so many people forget where it all began.

The Toy Story and Snow White lego displays are amazing!! I hope they're still there when we go next year.

I think a trip through One Man's Dream should be a requirement before going into any of the parks. :) People get caught up in the fun, and I'm glad for that, but it's nice to be appreciative of how it all started.

I bet those statues will be there for a long, long time.

My DD4 loves these! Right now we just have Simba and Bambi, but I have a feeling our collection will grow. When we were there last March we went on a search for Bambi. DH and I made the mistake of not letting her buy it immediately, telling her to wait and see if there was anything else she wanted during the trip. Well, it came down to our last afternoon and she decided that's what she wanted and then baby Bambi was nowhere to be found in MK. We ended up taking the monorail to the Contemporary and found Bambi there. :thumbsup2

Those babies are so cute. I'm glad you found your Bambi. It could have been a disaster if you hadn't.

Those legos statues are amazing!!! So awesome. I can't wait to see them.
Love Earl! Sandwiches look good as usual. We go every trip.
Can't wait for more.
Anyone going to Winnie the Pooh today? We have tickets for 2 pm!!

No Pooh for me. I baked brownies and that tie-dyed cake this morning. I ran another load of food up to the camp and then came back to buy some more groceries. I got a whole bunch of ice cream and popsicles. I'm pretty set now. Just gotta get salad and shredded lettuce Sunday afternoon.

Hope you like the movie. It looks very sweet on the commercials.

Wow! You really do everything in DTD. Some of those stores I've missed and have seen for the first time. Earl of Sandwich looks so good as always. I think I've mentally taken a note of that place (MUST DO!) The Lego sculptures are so cool. I hope the Maleficent dragon and Prince Phillip one is still there so I may take a picture next to it. One of my favorite scenes from any Disney movie :goodvibes That fountain is so cool. I don't think I've seen anything so complex-

Well maybe, but still it's cool. And the baby plush disney characters are just adorable. I must find that muffin mold. Mickey muffins :smickey:-

And the stage in DTD brings back so many memories. I got to perform on it in February with my school chorus, very fun. I was glad to see you stopped to watch, most ignore this stage (:() -

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

That was fun that you got to perform, and during a cooler month, too - that's good.

I should have gotten the Mickey mold. I always end up with a regret or two, and that is one of mine from this trip.

Is that flower pot fountain new? How pretty!!

I love that photo of Walt. I'm so grateful for all he created. :goodvibes

No, the fountain has been there a while. Jill makes fun of me for saying how much I like it every time I pass it and for taking a picture of it every time, too. ;)

That video is adorable. She says it so clear too. :0)

She really does talk very well for a young two year old. She's fun to be around. She has a really sweet personality.

Skimming through the old TR I found the new link. I'm only 12 pages behind! Dear Lord, ladies! You've managed to accumulate 12 pages of TR and loyal readers! I love it!

Checking into POP at 6:00 a.m.!!:scared1: I honestly don't even get up at Disney at 6:00 a.m. Like Brookelizabeth aka Brook, I'm not a rope drop person. I hope that check in went smoothly for all of you.

Way to go on the intro Jill! I love the pictures of Brook and Bella, and the fact that you recognize the stars of the TR!:cutie:

We are definitely rope drop people. We do try to have a day or two, though, that we don't do a rope drop.

Those Lego statues are incredible. Downtown Disney is such a fun place. I never spend as much time there as I'd like to.

Me, either. You really could make a day of it. Maybe take an afternoon boat ride over to POR/POFQ to eat and walk around, then back for some evening entertainment in DTD.

Love all the merchandise pictures!

Little Miss Matched....new store?

Yes, that whole area where the Pooh store was has been redone.

 I have never seen the low walls in DTD without little kids walking on them! I guess they are really tempting!

Is that Fun Finds store new? I don't remember seeing it before! It looks really cute! I love wandering around DTD :goodvibes

Yeah, Fun Finds is up there in that same Pooh section, too.

We all enjoyed the mingo video last night while eating at a frozen yogurt bar. Jen was with us too...:goodvibes
That Bella is so darn cute and we I loved listening to her talk!
Both girls are just show stoppers!

I would so love to make one of those flower pot fountains here at home but we just aren't here enough to get that project completed.

Big news here, Hunter just cut his first tooth. He's just a bit grumpy...

Tell Marc he can come and do a practice fountain at my house before he does it perfectly at yours. :goodvibes

I saw Hunter chewing his fingers on a FB picture this morning and said that very thing about him teething.

Glad you enjoyed the silly Bella video. She's a sweet one.

The new Lego structures are adorable. It is great that they are Disney themed. I especially like the Snow White pictures.

I wish I was eating at Earl of Sandwich now.

Maybe you'll get a spring Flower and Garden trip to see all the new things going on in WDW.

wow, I got some catchin' up to do, eh?

Going back to bookmark and read!
Okay, all caught up!
Those girls are just so adorable. I told my DDs to read about how many trips they've taken and how old they are. They said, "that's like 3 or 4 trips a YEAR!!!" They thought they had gone a lot (7 times). HA!

LOVE Bella's cute voice on that video! It keeps running through my head - "what in the whuld?"

I think I have a picture of the flower pot fountain too. I wish they'd come install it on my patio!

We always stop at the Florida welcome sign for a picture on our drives down too. That juice tastes so good - just b/c it means I'm finally in FL!

Wigd - poor Hunter. And poor Hunter's family!

MeMom - I love your school Nemo theme ideas!!! My DD just finished 2nd grade. I loved her teacher, but if she could have you or Wigd, that would be the end-all beat-all!!!

Okay - I'm now caught up and will be vigilant about staying on top of this. Carry on.

Don't you think 4 trips a year is a good number? :)
One for every season sounds good to me.

Your girls have cruise experience, though, and we don't have that.

If I had a Disney kid in my room, I'd probably be a bad teacher. I'd just want to sit and talk Disney all day. :upsidedow

Poor Hunter :(

Hey Wigd & gang: I think we need to do a Saint Louis meet for this fall. Any takers??

We might be able to do that in the spring. Let us know what you guys come up with.

Make sure you take a picture of the cake. I want to see how it came out. Also, the water feature at Downtown Disney is one of my favorites.

I love the flowerpot fountain. It's so beautiful.

My kids love DTD so much they asked me SEVERAL times it we were going to that "park". When it finally clicked in that it wasn't a park but an outside mall they were overjoyed and DD tried to elect a promise from DH that on our next trip we go there every day. :rotfl2: Not surprisingly, he didn't go for it.

We've begun to copy you MeMom by having Disney themed parties and Disney inspired cuisine here at home to help us get through the time between Disney trips.

Our latest addiction are chocolate dipped strawberries. In January, I refused to let them use a snack credit on one at the parks :rolleyes1 because I didn't think it was a very good value for a credit so when strawberry season rolled around here last month I made good on a promise to make them at home. In fact, we're having them for dessert tonight!! YUM!!

I've also made magic cookie bars here at home and DD brought home a kid's Princess and the Frog cookbook from DHS so we've done a thing or two from it and plan to attempt several more before they go back to school in September.

How did Brooklyn do getting up so early the next day to switch resorts?

Aren't you glad this guy

disneysummmmer063.jpg

did what he did?

Love that picture and  him!! YES, very, very glad.

If he had been satisfied to sit on the bench watching his daughters spin in circles on the merry-go-round, we would not even know each other today. But, he wanted to play with them, and because he did, we are here reading this and sharing each others' lives. Pretty good case for saying that what we do can really have a big effect on others, huh?

::yes::

I have watched that video of Bella's mingos atleast 6 times!!! TOO cute! I love how after saying "what in the wuhld" she says again "mingos in the watah" kind of laughing like it's just soooo darn ridiculous that those mingos are there! :rotfl:

Spring '12 sounds good to me! :) let's make a plan as it gets closer!

I think Jill is going to go to WDW with John's family in February or March, so maybe we could do St. Louis in April or May. You do whatever you want for a fall meet, too, though. I know there are a lot of DISers that are near there.

Make sure you take a picture of the cake. I want to see how it came out. Also, the water feature at Downtown Disney is one of my favorites.

I did. I did it in a long cake pan and swirled five colors. It's pretty cute. I'll get the picture up after while.

Disney themed parties are fun! :cool1:

The strawberries in the park are huge and so good. They are a bit expensive, though, I agree.

Because she knew we were going to Pop and because we had gotten to bed early the night before, Brooklynn did fine. Every afternoon when she would take a nap at Pop, she woke up thinking it was the next day. She would wake up from a deep sleep and we'd be going to dinner or to a park, and she'd tell us we hadn't had breakfast.

Update on Christine's mom and her surgery - she sent me a message that she was back at the hospital after her college orientation and all is well with her mom. :)

She was pretty tickled about it for some reason. She's a silly willy nilly little girl! I really should have gotten a mingo as a souvenir. I'll have to get one in October.

Katie, sent you a PM. Would love to work something out for us!

You don't have to keep it a secret. Tell everybody else and let them in on the fun, too. You gonna keep the whole St. Louis to yourself and not share, huh??? ;)

So, here's the tie-dyed cake - a trial run before camp.

and we are going back to Chicago the week after next just to take Baylor for three days. We'll be driving, leaving early on Tuesday the 26th and driving 12 hours. We will take Baylor to the Navy Pier the first night, Shedd Aquarium/Wrigley Field tour on Wednesday, Field Museum/tour Wrigley field Thursday, Segway tour/White Sox vs Red Sox game Friday, Drive home Saturday. We could take the St. Louis route....

Now about that cake. I would like a piece please!:worship:

Love the tie dye cake!

Isn't it cute? I was pleased. I'll have to make one for the girls.

You can come and get it. You do know where I live.

Hope it works out for you and Katie to meet up. :thumbsup2

the cake looks cute! we are celebrating my nephews 5th birthday while we are in canada and that would be a cute cake to make!

i like that the legos are disney themed now!

I thought the muffin mold was an ice mold! I have been wanting an ice mold to make mickey mouse shaped ice cubes for Caleb's mickey Mouse Birthday party! There is probably going to be a big disneyshopping.com order for me before September! :-)

Love that cake! I am so making that with my girls at church. I'm suddenly inspired to do a lesson on Noah!

:rotfl2: The report grew an extra page while I was reading it and I was all confused...You can tell I've just finished work and am now officially on holidays!:cloud9:

I love the Mickey flower pot fountain! You should put that in your collage MeMom!:) And I also want to Mickey muffin tray and those cute wooden plates! Sounds like a very enjoyable evening at DTD! That hotel pool is huge!

I'm glad to hear that all o our Dis-friends' families are doing ok. You'll all be in my thoughts and prayers:hug:

Wish me luck...I'm now going to line up for Harry Potter....Winnie the Pooh is on Tuesday with my neice and nephews in Indiana! :goodvibes

Thinking of you guys today. You and Mom will enjoy your time together over the next few weeks. I wish we lived in DIStown, because we would have food coming to you every night. Definitely text me today and let me know, and I will share with everyone here.

I'll take some of that tie dye cake ;) :upsidedow Actually, we found out a couple of days ago that some people from our church are gonna bring some food over for a few days starting on Tuesday :) That'll give my mom a day to get settled before people start coming over. I can't cook much more than pasta so we'll appreciate it :rotfl:

Update on Christine's mom and her surgery - she sent me a message that she was back at the hospital after her college orientation and all is well with her mom. :)

Thanks MeMom!

The surgery went very well and my mom's doing fine! I got there at about 3:30, which was earlier than I thought. Orientation was supposed to go until 4:00 but the last 2 and a half hours were just for class registration, and they let people go when they were done, so I got out a little after 3:00. Anyway, my mom looked pretty good, but she was still a little groggy from the anesthesia. She said she was feeling better than she thought she would. They have her on a morphine drip, so she's not in a lot of pain. The nurse asked what her pain level was on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the highest) and she said 3, so that's not too bad. She was just really tired. She was starting to fall asleep mid-sentence when I left. I'm going back to visit tomorrow for a few hours. She's either coming home Sunday or Monday. We're both hoping for Sunday! She's gonna go nuts if she's in the hospital too long!

Thanks again to all of my wonderful DIS friends :grouphug:

Walt and his brother Roy are some of my biggest idols. They have brought happiness to so many people, even well past their life times.
I just wish they knew more about cigarettes back then and how they were more dangerous to your health than most people thought. Maybe then Walt would have been around for a little while longer.:sad2:

I should have gotten one of the headband ears for Hat Day at school. I don't do hats, but I might be able to pull off a headband hat.

disneysummmmer065.jpg

DSis has a pair of pink cheetah headband ears, you can borrow them if you would like :thumbsup2 I prefer the original ears myself. Except for the little elastic chin strap on them. Those annoy me.

Christine Glad to hear your mom is doing fine and there was no complications with the anesthesia or the surgery! Hope she rehabilitates just fine :)
