Hi everyone! We're going to Disney in June, so I'm trying to figure out which makeup would be best for the hot weather. I've got it down to mineral powder foundation or tinted moisturizer. Which do you think would do better in the heat and humidity? Thanks!

Personally, I dont wear any on vacation!! I like to wear makeup at home/work, but on vacation thats my time to be all natural! After all, most makeups sweat and dont look right after being in the sun!!

HOWEVER, to each his own! I know people that wear both kinds, and personally I think the tinted moisturizer looks better.

Whatever you decide, have a great time on your trip!!

I started using the minerals a couple years ago and won't use anything else!

It seems to hold up better in the heat and humidity better than a liquid too.

:)

I started using Bare Escentuals mineral makeup and love it! it doesn't feel like you have anything on, but looks fantastic!

Bare Escentuals!! :yay: I've been an addict for years! It holds up to even the humidity!

I also use the Bare Essentials, and I am hooked, its just wonderful and holds up well in the heat. I would go with that

I've used both in various temperatures and levels of humidity (Alabama girl, here!). I hate foundation, period, so I'll do anything I can not to wear it. I used to be an avid tinted moisturizer user...I used to use the Clinique City Block, but switched to Cover Girl because it was cheaper. I like it a lot, but I recently started using the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation. I'm in love with it. It's so light and it's just enough coverage. I can't say enough good things about it. I would recommend all three of those, with the Neutrogena powder being my favorite.

hello! i asked a similar question the other day when i got a facial (birthday present!). the aesthetician said that mineral make-up is better for humid weather -- dry weather can make you look flaky, but it's perfect for humidity. so that's what I'm going with! :thumbsup2

Not to hijack the thread, but how do you all find the BE travels? I only started using it in the past few months and I have these horrible visions of my makeup bag covered in powder after the flight down to Orlando. Any tips?

I used Bare Escentuals for years, but the bismuth in it always made my skin itch whenever I got hot. I've since started ordering alot of samples from other smaller companies and am shocked at the difference. I guess I just didn't realize how chalky Bare Escentuals made my skin. I now have tons of samples from just about every mineral company out there. My favorites at the moment are Pure Luxe minerals and DreamWorld minerals. Both are small companies with wonderful customer service. Their owners will custom mix foundation for you, if you can't find a perfect match in any of their foundation colors. Neither uses bismuth in their products and my skin just loves them. Both sell samples sizes of all their products and ship very quickly. I'll never go back to liquid foundations, but will also never use Bare Escentuals again. Pure Luxe and Dream World minerals are both alot cheaper, more natural looking, stay on through anything, and are healthier for my skin. Meow minerals is also good, but don't wear quite as well as the other two. They do have gorgeous blushes though:cloud9: .

I have to agree with you on the BE. I used it for a while with no issues, then after a few months my skin revolted and it caused me to break out and itch incessantly. After researching online, I found out this is very common. I stopped using it and tossed everything I had (in which I had amassed quite a bit of BE products in a short time).

I liked the lightness of the mineral style makeup, but for me both the liquid and the mineral type had the same life span when I was sweating. I haven't experimented with any more mineral makeup, but I have found that I like Prescriptives Virtual Skin liquid-it is very light and is just enough to even out skin tone without being heavy or cake-like.

Tinted Moisturizer with a high SPF is all you'll want in June and July in Florida. We are veteran summer trippers and it is VERY hot, rain showers off and on, humid....one of my favorite things is that I only take mascara, lip gloss, sunless tanner for my bronzer and moisturizer on the trip. PUT AWAY your "work face" and enjoy the casualness and "sunkissed" look:cutie: I love the mineral products but not for our week at WDW:woohoo: Hair too--a good cut before you leave and fun caps and visors will do the trick:cool1:

Definitely mineral makeup - whichever brand works for you - over your favorite sunscreen. (I switched from BE to Loreal myself).

Put a little scotch tape over the holes before you go and your makeup won't get all over the place when you open it again. I travel with mine a lot over the summer and this trick works great for me. :thumbsup2

OK call me totally behind the rest of womanhood, but what is mineral makeup? I have adult acne and have used Merle Norman's Aqua base lqiuid foundation FOREVER. Its the only one that doesn't turn me orange or lead to breakouts. I think it has zinc oxide in it. I don't use moisturizer because they all make me breakout regardless of what they say--and I figure with adult acne I am self moisturing anyway (44 and no wrinkles so I must be right!) Anyway, in hot humid weather I would not want to wear much foundation at all. Once I get sun-kissed I usually go without foundation---just a super high quality sensitive skin facial sunscreen since I am also very light skinned and burn easily So, what is this mineral stuff and does it have sunscreen in it? Is it ok for peopel who break out with almost everything?

You might be best to stick with what your doing considering your skin issues. I can relate because I have adult acne too and am very sensitive to a lot of products out there. For a while the mineral make up (Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals) worked great, but then I had severe breakout backlash after a while of using it. There are other mineral makeups out there though that don't have some of the known ingredients that aggravate the skin. You may want to research online before giving any of them a try. Nothing worse than aggravating an already bad skin situation. Good luck!

Oh, and yes, a lot of the mineral makeups have sunscreen in them. I know BE has SPF15. Check the different brands though to make sure.

The BE (which I love) has 15 SPF. I don't think that's high enough to wear outdoors, however. We usually put on 50 or higher first and then I put on any makeup (the BE is all I wear these days) once that dries.

For a wonderful sunscreen/sunblock try the Neutogena (may be incorrect spelling) "Dry Touch." It smells nice and really is dry to the touch (it's a lotion). It's non-cosma-whatever (so it won't block pores).

Don't get skin cancer folks! It won't matter HOW your makeup looks if you're all wrinkled (or have scars from having things removed). :)

Stay pretty, use sunscreen! :cutie:
