What kind of mineral makeup do you use? I have been using L'oreal but would like to try bare escentuals. The only problem is I'm not sure what color foundation to select. I really don't want to be bothered with ordering and then returning.(I never seem to get things returned)::rolleyes2 Anyhoo, how did you select your shade?

I use Bare Esscentuals. Being a blue eyed, fair skinned blonde I use light and fairly light. The rest of the females I know have medium skin and are brunettes, they all use the medium kit. The kit comes with 2 tones of color foundation, in my instance fairly light and light. The 2 color kit is nice because when I'm ghosthly white in the winter I use more fairly light with a hint of light. Then in the summer when I have a hint of color I brush on more light, and a hint of bronzer. If you have an Ulta near you they have the Bare Minerals (Essenctuals) you could go and experiment with color. Supposedly 80% of the caucasin population is medium.

I ordered. ;) That was during BE's first appearance on QVC when that was all they sold there!
I've tried a few different ones over the years and still like it best. :)

Do you have a Sephora near you? If so, try it there. No ordering and returning.

Also, there are several salons around here that carry it...you could go that route if you are fortunate. Otherwise, ordering is probably going to be your best choice.

Personally, I can wear about 3 shades of BE easily. I think they are that forgiving. Plus, with a little sun, I can add a darker one to the mix too. I'd look carefully at the colors and what they say and look carefully at your skintone and go from there. I think you'll be happy with Bare Minerals foundation, I really do. :) Good luck!

Well unfortunatley I live in a rural area, there is a BE store in the mall but that's an hour away.:confused3 I'm sort of fair skinned but often the light shades are too light, I'm more like a light medium. I really want to change what I'm using so maybe a trip would be worth it.

I use the medium kit. I am a somewhat fair skin (but with a LOT of pink/red in my skin) brunette with blue eyes. The light tones are way to light for me.

I've worn both medium beige and medium. I like the medium beige the best. I can't wear their lights unless I mix them with a medium. My DD and nieces al wear a shade in the lights though.

I have fair to medium skin and wear buttered tan but I use Everyday Minerals rather than Bare Minerals. It's way cheaper and I love it! You can order sample sizes of things from them for free so it was easy for me to choose a color I liked. I ordered three samples and then chose the one I liked best and it cost me nothing!

I was on sephora's web site and they're offering a starter kit for $60. It has 2 shades of foundation, blush, mineral veil (whatever that is) something else-can't remember, and a couple of brushes. Is that a good deal?

For a starter kit, that's what I bought. I am placing an order with them this morning for my BE:thumbsup2 !! First time ordering from them. I like that fact that orders over $50 are shipped free. I love QVC, but those shipping prices can add up quickly!!! Before you know it, the shipping adds up to what you could spend on a product!!!

I have dark hair and very fair skin. I find that the Fair is just a bit too light for me, but the Fairly Light is too dark. So I buy the Fair and the Light and make my own blend. That's one of the best things about using BE, you can mix them to make exactly what you need. :thumbsup2

Sephora is great. They usually send you great samples with every order. Make sure you sign up for their Beauty Insiders card (frequent buyer card) so you can get reward points and more samples. If you buy BE through them, they points will add up fast.

The starter kits, IMO, are always a great deal because the brushes are usually so expensive that it's best to go with the kits.

Just a few months ago Sephora offered a Mineral Veil and a full Kabuki Brush for $25. That was a GREAT deal considering the kabuki brush itself is around $20. I'm always on the lookout for deals like that.
