Mine Train, rope drop, fast pass, strategy?

Confused about per-booking 3 fast passes, can anyone help?

I am planing a quick trip to take advantage of a 30% off room rates I saw today. I am only 20 some days away from my trip date so I can't get a fast pass for the new 7 Dwarfs Mine Train ride. I set-up my entire trip plan today... lots of work, but only one thing has stumped me about the new systems.

I'm going to try my first-ever Rope-Drop at the MK. If we hustle over to the ride and get in line I'd guess we might have to stand there for an hour? But if we want to try and get a fast pass, and then get in line so that we might get to ride twice in one day (once from standing in line, and once from having the fast pass we got at the ride)... is that still how it works? Or are all fast passes passed out at central locations now? (Its been a year since I've been to the parks, so not sure how they do it now?)

I had picked 3 fast passes for the day in advanced- Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain, and the Light Parade... should I cancel one to leave room open for possibly picking up a Mine Train fast pass? I'm assuming that if you walk into the park with 3 fast passes you won't be able to get a fast pass for the Mine Train? (So confused?). Thanks in advance

I didn't get one either. I'm not even sure if it was an option, but maybe I didn't bother looking. We plan on doing the Mine Train first thing at RD on an EMH day. Touring plans suggested that strategy over getting an FPP. We got FPPs for Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain instead. We're 19 days out, so it sounds we'll be there about the same time.

You can't cancel the 3rd FP+. System us set up that you have to pick something else. When you use your 3 FP+ (Or if they expire), you can go to a kiosk and get another FP, from whatever is left. Highly unlikely that you would be able to get a late dat FP+ for the 7DMT. Best bet is to high-tail to it at RD.

There are no more paper fast passes. You book 3 and then when you use those 3 you can go to a kiosk and book another use it come back book another and so on and so on until park close.

Kiosks are located in central locations at each land. Near Philharmagic in Fantasyland, Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland, and the Adventureland/Frontierland Pass through.

If you were unable to get Seven Dwarfs Mine Train now online through mydisneyexperience.com or waltdisneyworld.disney.go.com, they are the same website, then you will not be able to go get it upon arrival. For the shortest wait time you will need to go directly there during Extra magic hours morning or at rope drop.

Unless you are VERY lucky and happen to check just when someone else's reservations get canceled. I don't know if someone releases them that they go back to the pool.. but I bet that is what happens.

Just like getting an ADR from CRT or BoG. Every once in a while someone is lucky and calls and gets one a couple weeks/days out.

True it is possible but you shouldn't skip out on doing it at rope drop thinking you can go get a paper return time or that some how the kiosks have something the app doesn't.

Check on the app but don't get out of line or hold yourself up to do it.

Thanks to Everyone... great advice!

My biggest problem is I made a FastPass for the Electrical Light Parade at 9:00pm so I won't use up my 3 passes until the very end of the day. But my wife really wants to see the parade. So I'm covered.

(Check back everyday, wonder what time the system reboots itself every 24 hrs?)
